- Other Local AttractionsCozumel is rich in history and natural wonders. Popular destinations include ancient Mayan temples on the north side of the Island; the sanctuary to Ix- Chel -the fertility goddess- in San Gervasio and the Museum of the Island of Cozumel, with its colorful displays of underwater reefs and other Island treasures. At El Cedral, on the south side of the Island, the oldest Maya structure on Cozumel built in A.D. 800 can be found. Nearby a towering lighthouse at Punta Sur offers a 360-degree view of the Island.
Cozumel is habitat to many nature reserves: the Cozumel Marine Reef National Park, Chankanaab Park and Lagoon, and Punta Sur. Botanical gardens at Chankanaab Park display 350 different types of tropical plants from more than 20 countries. Another attraction is the dolphin aquarium, treating visitors to a close-encounter with playful dolphins. Punta Sur is a new eco-tourist park for visitors interested in learning about the Island's native flora and fauna. Encircling a region known as Colombia Lagoon, Punta Sur is a unique setting of mangrove jungles, white sandy beaches and reef formations. The Park's information center allows visitors to watch a 20-minute video and learn about different eco-systems, environment and native birds, turtles, alligators, fish and coral in the Park. At the information center, visitors can rent electric bikes to explore Punta Sur on their own.

Cozumel Hotel and resort
The location of the resort was very convenient. Very friendly and attentive staff. Room was conformable with adequate amenities. The food was ok, not extraordinary, but not terrible. The snorkeling was bland with not too much to see. We signed up for the fancy dinner and was not overly impressed. The activities crew by the pool were top notch engaging the crowd with exceptional energy.

Fabulous Resort
We’ve been to Cozumel many times, but this was our first stay at the Cozumel Hotel & Resort, and it was a great choice. The hotel is in a central spot, so it’s easy to get to shops and lots of restaurants. Our room was clean and spacious. The curtains aren’t blackout, but you can close the hurricane shutters if you want to sleep in. The staff was wonderful and friendly. Everyone we met was cheerful and made our stay better. We especially want to thank Miguel, Mario, Ulysses, and Perla for taking such good care of us. The beach is beautiful, and we never had issues getting a lounger. For a couple of days, we rented a cabana, which was very comfortable and offered at a super low price. Since shade becomes a premium at certain times of the day, it was nice to have the extra comfort and shelter when we needed it. Watch out for “Frank,” the little biting Damsel fish that hangs out under the ladder in the beach snorkel/dive entrance. Did not draw blood, just a couple of little nips that can be startling if you aren't expecting it :) The Snorkeling was amazing! We did not eat dinner at the resort as we wanted to visit some of our old favorites, but we heard others saying it was pretty good. We did have breakfast every morning. The buffet had something for everyone. Plenty of fresh fruit, eggs, potatoes, meats, and varied traditional food. There were 2 omelet stations. Tip: ask for bacon at the omelet station. This is definitely a place we will return to. Budget-friendly and a great value, combined with amazing service!

Gone downhill
I have been visiting this hotel since 2016. Since Wyndham quit managing it the resort has gone downhill. Food is now awful, no wifi except in the lobby. The only great thing is the snorkeling and close to town. May have to find a different hotel.

ONLY come for the diving.
Have been coming to this property since the 90s. Absolutely gone down hill. Markedly since last here, July, 2025! Horrible food. Pillows are miserable. WiFi is rubbish. Worst facial in my life. Guest Services incompetent. Dive shop operation is great. The only reason to come here. Alas, booking anything other than 2-tank boat in AM is difficult unless a party of at least 4. Proximity to walking downtown excellent.

Good stay but…
The rooms are long due for renovation! Most irritated part of our stay is no WiFi in the room but in the hotel hall - I understand probable concern of management about vacations without cell phones/ computers but most of the hotel guests are divers and we need to have communication devices to log diving files as well to finds necessary information when it requires. Hotel and hotel properties are very clean. Food - it’s not the largest choices but what you get is tasty. A warning: Please ask the grill chef to cook it well. If you need to book a trip or some activity- use hotel’s service - it turns out they are the cheapest and very flexible. Service across the board is not invasive but good upon request
