First thing is that there are 2 x Courtyard by Marriott hotels in Edinburgh. When looking at reviews make sure you are aware of this, thought I was in city centre but found out that I was in the other one 45 mins out of city. Hotel was quiet with really good rooms! Food & beverage staff were very pleasant. Had 2 issues: WiFi is poor to non existent in hotel No kettle in bedroom! When relaying this to the receptionist got the “ I couldn’t be bothered unhelpful “ look from her - hence the lower satisfaction score, sorry!

Nitin is an amazing server, I would die for him. Plus the food was so delicious and the atmosphere was incredible, but Nitin really made my night when he gave me his grinch Santa hat out of kindness. I would return for him alone (but also everything else was amazing)!

Our Edinburgh favourite
We love staying at this hotel on our regular visits to family in this brilliant city . The hotel is located very close to Waverley Station which is just a 10 minute walk if you use the back access to the station. It’s on many bus routes and the tram line . Close to the newish St James shopping Centre and to many excellent restaurants and bars . In the hotel the staff are fantastic …. a real asset to Marriott . They smile as they engage with guests and are efficient and helpful. The food provided is very good , we particularly enjoy the buffet breakfasts there . The range of choice is is excellent and the quality is top notch . We look forward to our next visit in the new year .

Rave Review – Courtyard by Marriott
Our stay at the Courtyard by Marriott was absolutely wonderful. The location is perfect—well situated and convenient for exploring the area. Breakfast was excellent, and dinner was equally enjoyable, making it easy to relax and dine right on site. The service, though, is what truly sets this hotel apart. Every staff member was kind and helpful, but I have to give special recognition to Yura at the front desk. Yura went above and beyond to make our stay seamless and memorable—attentive, professional, and genuinely welcoming. That kind of service makes all the difference. Thank you to the entire team for such a fantastic experience. When we return, there’s no question—we’ll be staying here again.

WE LIKED - the staff, they were great! Everyone we spoke to was friendly and helpful. The large comfy bed. The breakfast. The housekeeping team who kept our room spotlessly clean. WE DISLIKED - the glass bathroom panels especially the fact that there was a gap all around the door which meant that someone in bed 3 feet away could hear everything! (Although the shower was good) The lack of a stool to sit and apply make-up and dry hair. Instead there was a huge glass table and an office chair which was no good whatsoever.
