people need to relax
stayed at Couples San Souci for 10 days starting March 16th 2026. Place was awesome. Pools, grounds, all was very clean and well kept up. New general manager has everything well organized and everybody doing their job. The place is great, to bad some of the people that go there are idiots. Why do you need to reserve 2 chairs at pool and also 2 chairs on beach, plus never sit in any of them as never around? The resort should also put up no cell phone allowed signs by pools and all restaurants. When out dining with loved one, must you both be on your phone? Sitting or floating in pool, must you be on your phone? If you are that important, stay home or do your phone business in your room before you come out. You are on vacation, relax. The bus ride from airport was almost 2 hours. not bad ride, sit back, relax. Rooms were very clean and good water pressure and AC. Couples just has to do a little work on their pricing, getting a little high, as we could tell by not being sold out in March. All in all, another great trip. Chuck & Rhonda

It’s gone right down hill
Our 4th visit to Couples and we were shocked just how far it has gone down hill since our last visit 2 1/2 years ago. This was our 3rd trip to the Caribbean in 6 months, more expensive for 12 nights than the 14nights we had at Sandals in Barbados and at Coyaba Beach in Grenada (even when the diving was added). We thought Couples encouraged loyalty with rewards for repeat visitors but not for us. No welcoming, no sign of a senior manager at any time and we weren’t asked once how our holiday was going. It’s a beautiful location but the whole place was looking tired with rotting timbers, tripping hazards with poorly maintained surfaces and mouldy split sun bed cushions. Staff were very friendly and helpful within the constraints under which they are working, but there were too many work experience trainees making lots of unsupervised mistakes. Penny pinching was apparent in the catering. No sign of an orange or a grapefruit or papaya or mango or passion fruit at any point, not even a slice of lemon for a drink. And the fish of the day was snapper, every day. And when I asked for Red Stripe I was told they were stopping it. Unbelievable. Finally the scuba diving. The dive leaders are all experienced, friendly and helpful. But the small dive boat makes diving prone to being cancelled if there’s more than a metre swell. 4 days in a row the diving at fixed times of 9 and 11 was cancelled though the weather had improved for boats to go out for snorkelling in the afternoon on 2 of the 4 days but no diving. The Caribbean is no Indian Ocean but one would have to put together the best bits of the 12 dives we did at Sans Souci, 8 of which were at Middle or Dickie’s reefs, to equal our experience in each and every one of the 20 dives we did in each of Barbados and Grenada. With such utterly underwhelming resort senior management just letting the place spiral down hill, we won’t be back.

Trading Places
Stayed at CTI but had a day trip over to CSS. Quite different in that it was so much quieter which is perfect for us. I wanted a wooden sculpture from Jerome the beach seller, he didnt have one there the right size but said he could make one and deliver to us at CTI. Unfortunately he left us with a hideous purple plastic 3D fake! Not wood at all and certainly not worth the $60 we gave him.

Amazing hotel and staff
Stayed for 2 weeks in Beachfront suite in A block. Lovely hotel with amazing staff. I was nervous before staying because of some negative reviews but didn’t need to have worried. Food is great specially at Casanova and Bella Vista for lunch. Our room was big, clean and the bed was very comfortable. We didn’t go to Sunset Beach and remained on the textile side, my only gripe was that the nudity should be kept to sunset beach, every evening the man on the balcony below us to the right decided to lay out completely naked …. not what I want to see when chilling with my G&T! Staff were great, especially Ashley & Shanae both full of energy and always smiling and having a laugh, Natalie and Robert at the pool bar…. made the best Bob Marley cocktails, Natalie was a “pocket rocket” serving drinks, and Carol the singing chef making delicious omelettes every morning. 4 gala nights in 2 weeks is a bit much, 1 a week would be enough, all restaurants and bars are closed on gala nights so you have to eat there or have room service, this was my only negative. Would definitely return.

Beautiful Resort But Not Returning
We are going to try to keep this simple and not long winded. You get what you pay for in comparison to other resorts. We now know what to expect and have lowered our expectations. We have been here 7 times over 10 years. We have seen management and employees come and go, including old rooms and new rooms. The grounds are beautiful and we love the setting, but the people, systems and details need major work. We will list the positives and negatives to keep it clean and when management reads this since they don't seem to read the departure evaluation form maybe they will listen. I remember sitting with young Abe Issa at breakfast and talking to him about Gluten Free options this is back in 2010, and the changes they would have to make in the kitchen to accommodate food allergies. He listened or Pierre did but at least they have something to offer. The person from Couples Customer Care Team reading this I'm sure has not been there lang so they will have no reference point. The glue. There are still some pillars employed there that make the place more at home and these people care. They need raises as they have been there 9+ years and make Couples what it is. Maquagh is a friend and I spend allot of time with him while I'm there. The guy has a handle on what's going on and has the personality to run the entire place. I would recommend to put him on the board for his "close insight to what to people want" as he spends allot of time actually talking to guests and hearing the good and bad. He's smart, and if he can manage 50+ plus rowdy drunk naked people he can manage just about anything and that's a huge complement. Others that need to be recognized Rohan who takes care of that Pool like it's his baby. Been there 15+ years give the guy a raise. Herd, RayJay are great but they need a pat on the back and $ to keep them happy our you will loose them. Bartenders are the face of the resort like it or not keep these guys happy unlike water sports who all need guest service training. Positives: Dining. 4 Star at best. Sunset beach lunch has gotten better with more choices and new cabana to shelter the food. Bigger salad bar with mesh cover that seems to work for the bird issue. Restaurant's in general the food is good although menu items need to be updated after 3 yrs. Deserts are excellent as always this is where they excel. Gluten free and Vegan options are available although if you are a celiac best to steer clear of buffets. AN Beach. Always a kept clean in general. The beach itself always needs a good clearing with the tractor and a York rake which is shocking they don't have one to clear all the debris the ocean leaves behind. Staff is always pleasant and professional. New loungers were delivered while we were there but need new float mats. Bathrooms clean and Hot tub emptied/scrubbed weekly. Grounds. Are beautiful there's not another resort like it. We love the steps and walks to keep up in the exercise. There is also A/B blocks for people who can't navigate the steps. Pickle ball court is a nice addition but puzzled why they didn't make a concrete walkway while they were pouring the courts? Housekeeping, Always nice and do the best they can. We asked to mop daily and they did. Night Life. They put on nice shows and have music or some activity after hours to keep things interesting. Nice job on the large scale focuses including Gala and Jamaica Night. That about sums up the positives Now the Negatives: 1. When looking over the balcony clean the garbage between the building and retaining walls. 2. We arrived to our Pre-register being lost in a "computer glitch" so they lost all our dinner reservations, and requests for our room. Check in basically sucked. 3. I always check the rooms for cleanliness and usually they will move us to a better less moldy room. This time no. My wife has a mold allergy so this is an issue. We get it's a damp island but some things need to be addressed. 4. Pro tip throw out the grass woven floor mats as soon as you get there. They harbor mold and bacteria the look nice but a very bad decorating decision. 5. Check the Mattress ours had 2 big voids and a big hump in the middle. My wife said to let it go or I would have requested a new one. 6. Mini Splits need to be cleaned and have black mold. Not so much the dust filters which also have mold but the internal coils. I knew this going in, so I brought a can of Mold spray to help mitigate the problem. In pre- register I told them to clean it but we know what happened there. Do yourself a favor bring a can of Concrobium with you like we did and spray the inside of the wall unit it helps with the mold. Management should be foam spraying and washing the indoor units 2 times a year to be sure they stay clean. 7. Electrical wires and boxes outdoors need to be addressed. Many hanging wires and potential hazards both on the lawns and AN beach. 8. Fix the AN pool skimmer system it does not work. Blow out the lines at least to see if there is debris plugging the lines. It would make Rohans job much easier. 9. Float loungers are disgusting and need new ones. As far as I can remember these are the originals. They are sticky, water logged, dirty and by no means 5 star quality. 10. Attitudes other than a few which I mentioned and Ashley who is sweet you might want to start hiring personalities and then train for the job after. The wait staff in general, mornings are bad. Nights are better except for BellaVista. One girl there was miserable. It's like they don't want to be there. This has gotten worse over the years. 11. Spa prices are out of hand. Used to be $159, now over $200 per person for a basic hour massage is crazy. almost $500 for 2 people with tip. If we didn't have the credits we would not have gone. The girl at Spa check out when redeeming rewards acted like she had no idea what to do. 12. Coffee shop although nice it's in the wrong location. Palazina where it used to be is a better central location for all day use. And Veggie bar also wrong location move it to the main beach area so guests can use it for lunch, not at the mineral pool where 5 people hang out. 13. Speaking of coffee if you want coffee at Palazina for breakfast even if the hostess asks, you won't get it before 5min. The wait staff will look at your table and ignore what they see. It's a very I do not care attitude and the staff they do have are over worked and not enough of them. Running out of coffee cups and silverware in the morning should never happen!! I hope this message gets to management as I don't want to see this place go down hill. It's old and needs TLC but It can be a great place once again. Again it's in the lack of detail that drives people crazy. When I see a resort putting out monthly specials to drive business something is wrong. For the money it's fine but a 5 Star resort no longer. Unfortunately, we will not be returning.
