  Family spring break trip

  We just got back from a fabulous spring break stay at Conrad. The hotel is gorgeous and service was top notch. Our room was very clean and so spacious. We really enjoyed having a kitchen space with the kids. Breakfast at Takato was delicious (try the short rib Benedict) and sitting outside along the beach was a great start to the day. Valet was quick despite it being a busy week. The staff at the beach & pool were friendly and the included chairs were plentiful and comfortable. There is a nearby lifeguard stand too. We are already looking forward to coming back!

  Unacceptable

  Been waiting for hours for our room to be ready. The lobby is full of others also waiting past the check in time. But still, we are charged full price. Do better, Hilton.

  A very disappointing 1st day

  We were invited to check in on line which we did but when we arrived we still could not get a room until 4 pm. There was nowhere to have a cup of coffee apart from getting a coffee to go. No cafe And this is a 5 star hotel !!! Then in evening turn down did not arrive I had to ring twice to get it. Then someone turned up with some towels but I was told that the dirty ones would be dealt with tomorrow. The balcony door is jammed and as an elderly man I did not have the strength to open or close it. Obviously little maintenance. For 4-5k dollars for 5 nights. This is disappointing. Would not stay again. I have booked for 5 nights and this is the first. Doesn’t bode well

  Good hotel, but I have some notes…

  This was a good hotel… it was clean, which is the most important to me. No bugs or dirt anywhere. I appreciate that immensely! The food at the restaurants were delicious and if you are curious as to what I am referring to, please see my other posts (Takato and Vitolo both exceptional). The staff at the restaurant are also exceptional, and several servers went above and beyond. I wish I could remember their names. I cannot say enough good things about the restaurants attached to the Conrad hotel!! That being said, I have some constructive criticism I hope will be taken under advisement by management: - We booked a room that was supposed to accommodate four people. While the accommodations in our bedroom were sufficient, there were no linens to prepare my kids’ sofa bed. When we called to have these sent up, it took about an hour and a half. At bedtime 😖 - Due to the currents in the ocean, we were told by the lifeguard we had to be at the shoreline if our kids were playing in the water. Despite the fact that chairs are included in the price of the room, the beach attendants would not let me keep a chair near the shoreline. So I just had to sit in the sand, even though we were paying for lawn chairs and an umbrella. Just kind of frustrating because I’m pretty pale, and I wanted to sit under the umbrella to avoid getting burnt. And I was trying to be responsible and watch my children. - I did not find out until the last day that tips are not included and you have to sign out for poolside food and beverage service. I felt terrible when I realized that we had not been tipping (most set ups automatically include 20%). So I gave one of the servers a large tip on our last day, but I feel really bad for thinking it was included. A little more clarity on this would have been nice because we are not the type of people who do not tip. When I brought this up with the servers, they made it sound like they had been lobbying for this kind of system to be put in place. Because I am not the only one who has made this mistake. - I was very excited about the prospect of ordering on demand movies with my kids, but they were not available for the first half of our trip and then when we were able to find them on the TV, they were $25 each. Insane. - The tap water looked like urine but they did provide lots of bottled water as an alternative without charge - WiFi is bad if you don’t pay the extra fee - There were two plates in a room that was supposed to be equipped for four people. - Reaching anyone at the front desk was very difficult and I was never entirely sure if I was going to actually speak to someone - our AC went off for one day while we were there. It did not affect the temperature of our room too negatively and it was back on by nightfall, but more communication about this would have been helpful because I was starting to panic that the AC was out entirely.

  Wonderful Stay, Unfortunate Ending

  Our stay, for the most part, was a 5/5. The hotel is clean, the lobby is lovely, and what really stands out is the genuine hospitality. We were only there a few days, but staff began greeting us by name. They were particularly kind to my children. The one bedroom suite is a fantastic option for a family of 4. The location can't be beat. One warning is that the staff at Takato (the breakfast option) and the staff handling the beach are clearly not part of the Hilton team and it shows. After such over the top hospitality, average service at breakfast and on the beach was sort of jarring. Again, just a heads up. I want to again reiterate the above and beyond service while we were there, and you could tell from how happy all the guests were that this extended to all those who were staying there. However, despite confirming prior to and upon arrival that we had booked under Hilton for Luxury/Impresario, and having these benefits outlined in detail by the front desk (including a welcome room upgrade), they were not reflected on our bill. Mistakes happen. I followed the advice in the email to text the front desk. I was then put in a "loop" with an AI agent that just kept asking how it could help despite what I said. I then tried the app (also in the directions in the email) and was put in the same AI loop. I then was connected to an agent who told me it would be 5-7 business days before the refund would process. I was told this is the turnaround on electronic payments. Of course, I've had refunds in stores, other hotels, and restaurants all post within 24 hours. Truly we left Conrad singing its praises, but I do find it disappointing that following their directions to fix an error on their end basically got me nowhere to begin with, and then when I did get someone, I find out I'll need to continue to monitor my card for up to 2 weeks. I wish I could do 4.5/5 but since that is not an option, I'll stick with a 5 because of the service while on the property. I do wish that management would consider that when "they" make an error, it really should be as easy on the customer as possible to fix it. And an apology for making the error in the first place would have been well received, but it was never given.
