    great location and awesome staff

Reservation: Booked "City View King". You get a direct view of the buildings across the street, but you still have a great view of the mountains if you step outside onto the balcony. They offer an upgrade for a "Mountain View King" for an extra $40 per night. This gives you a direct view of the mountains. Did not take the offer. I booked directly through the hotel's website and it was easy to use and was the cheapest option. Hotel: The staff was great! They kept our luggage as were weren't able to check in yet due to cleaning. Troy made our check-in easy and smooth. Robert made sure we got our car promptly. The cleaning crew tidied up our room and bed daily and made it seem like we were checking in every day. Sorry, I don't remember everybody's name! There is coffee and tea (only in the morning/late morning) in the lobby daily. There is freshly made popcorn from 3-5 (?) in the lobby. I really like the filter water dispenser right next to the elevator. We made sure to fill up everything we left the hotel. The hotel had a gym with a treadmill, elliptical machine, bike, and your typical gym equipment. There was a small pool and some outdoor seating areas that we did not use. Room: The pictures on their website were fairly accurate. The room was much larger than I expected. There is enough room for a sitting area with a couch/coffee table and armchair. There were 1 full bathroom and 1 half bathroom. I had a big enough work desk to do some emergency work while on vacation. There was a decent side fridge and microwave for holding and reheating any leftovers that you may have. The only really bad I had to save was the kitchenette sink was really high. Shorter people will find it hard to use. The bathroom shower had a leak which caused low water pressure. The shower curtain bar was broken which made it hard to keep the floor from getting wet. The water pressure is normally a big issue for me but I let it slide this time. :) The biggest issue was street noise. It travels really well up to the room. Especially motorcycle noise during the middle of the night. This was with the balcony doors closed. I wish the windows/doors were double-paned. Overall a very nice room! Location: I thought the hotel was in a great location. It was very close to the main Waikiki strip. It was a ten-minute walk to the International Market Place. It was about 3 1/2 blocks from the Waikiki Beach Walk and the beach is not that much further. If you plan to go to the beach daily and need to lug stuff with you, it may be better to stay at a hotel that is right on the beach. Parking is an issue just like most hotels in the Waikiki area. There is street parking, but the immediate parking spots in front are metered parking and have 2-hour parking (Not 100% about the 2 hours). There is free parking along the canal but is rarely available unless you get back to the hotel early. If you plan to stay out and then come back late; don't even bother looking. You also have to worry about street cleaning and I was told by some locals that they do not ticket; they tow. It was on Monday/Friday between 6:30 am-11:30 am. Do you really want to wake up that early to move your car around plus potentially get your car towed? There is only valet parking for $45 a night. The valet is available 24/7. Please note the entrance to the hotel driveway is on Ala Wai Blvd. It is right at the corner next to a private entrance and can be easily missed. If you are coming from Lewers Street, you have to make a left turn onto Ala Wai Blvd and then make an immediate U-turn into the driveway. There are restaurants and some bars right on the same block down the street. ABC is at the end of the block. You can get some late-night snacks or drinks. Excellent location being closed to everything but still keeping some distance. Final: I would totally stay here again.

    Welcoming and centrally located

This hotel has a welcoming low-key vibe to it that's a sweet contrast to that of the corporate behemoths prevalent in Waikiki. The staff is great and the penthouse, where we stayed, is awesome. Would definitely recommend!

    2 stars

The room we were in was not very clean, the fan in the bathroom was not working properly and mold was growing around the door frame. The TV had dead pixels and some of the lights in the room were not working. The hotel is beside a busy street so it is not very quiet. The staff are quite nice though, and the hotel is a short walk to the beach and the busy retail areas, but I probably would not stay here again.

Poor practice of washing linens and a mediocre Front Desk

First impression, the Front Desk was OK. I would have appreciated a welcoming salutation. We asked her about where we could go to eat since we are just here for 1 full day. We wanted a typical Hawaiian meal. We got a go down the street. We were also told to clean up and cuddle as an activity. Room was clean, plenty of room, and obviously received some upgrades. The balcony did not receive an upgrade, it was uninviting. The bellman/concierge was very friendly, eager to help, approachable. We asked for directions. He mapped it out for us. Guest laundry, an amenity that is offered by the hotel but is not able to provide. Our first trip to the laundry, we were unable to use the washer because the hotel was using it for washing sheets and towels. The kind houseman told us to come back in 10 mins. We did and we started our laundry. We returned to place the laundry in the dryer and both were in use by the hotel. The houseman removed the items and placed them on a bench nearby. We tried to start the dryer but it would not start. The houseman got a refund for us, removed the laundry from the other dryer. Now that our clothing is in the dryer, we returned to find the clothes were not dried. The houseman said the dryer over heated. At this time he said we could place it in his dryer and to return in 15 mins. Back to our room again, then back down. The clothing was still not dried but we took them and packed them away wet. The time spent in the basement changed our opinion on the level of cleanliness. Laundry is not washed in commercial size machines equipped to process laundry properly. l I could not help to think that the hotel is not practicing sanitizing guidelines as recommended by OSHA and the Dept of Health. Linens placed on seating, folding linens in a garage are unacceptable practices for a hotelier.

    Pleasant and relaxing

Loved the hotel. Had a balcony that faced the canal and mountains. Staff was friendly. Used the valet service and they were always prompt. Glad to utilize the filtered water machine to keep our thermos filled. Walkable to beach and various dining.
