Solo adventurer, tips and Valuable information
I had a wonderful time at this place, the man at the bar made Pina Coladas taste like ice cream, you can be comftorably drunk. If the beach vendors are bothering you, security will peacefully and professionally ask them to leave. The security offers good advice, listen to them. If you're looking for a place other than the hotel, and maybe even some adventures/chouffer, check out Miss Sonias restaurant down the road to the West, talk to Cheff Harry (Mr.Johnson). I was actually out there during the pandemic, so not very many people really. I'm much more of a mountain skiier than a beach goer, but I had these people made a positive impact on my expierience, especially going alone. I wouldn't go alone again, unless it were all inclusive. If your searching for a fishing adventure, its a great idea to line something up in advance, and go in the morning (before sunrise and before sunset) are the best times. If you're white, bring swim shirts, you will thank yourself if you wear those from day 1. The hotels breakfast is great and affordable. If you plan on doing a solo adventure. I highly advise you don't, go partnership style at the bare minimum (You'll need the back up). As a man from Nebraska, and pilot, please don't disregard this advice. But otherwise all really good hotel.
Nicest staff who learns your name and likes......
Nicest staff who learns your name and likes by day 2. Special shout out to KiKi, Romeo, Martino, Dillon, Jayda and many others, thanks for making our stay special. Excellent beach location with shade and plenty of sun, calm waters! Three large sand/eagle rays swam by us while standing in the water. Great location and very safe to walk the beach for a bit of exercise, drinks, shopping or snacks. Beach vendors have delicious fruit juice, pineapple rums cakes and meat patties at good prices. Resort food was very good and across the street there are a few good spots for jerk chicken & grilled lobster! Definitely worth the trip from Montego Bay to Negril.
Poor WiFi poor beach control
WiFi reception does not reach inside many rooms and you must go outside for connection. The hotel offers day passes to non guests. One day sixteen non guests brought coolers lunches and loud speakers in front of our room. The hotel also allows beach vendors to walk inside around the beach chairs some very aggressive
Maybe come back
Lovely small hotel, we stayed a week over Christmas. Rooms were kept clean, needs a bit of upgrading and especially wi fi and internet connections. Room was pretty tired, the toilet overflowed and flooded out whole room one night and they didn’t replace towels that we used to sop it up. Then they had a wedding at the pool, right across from our room with the DJ almost in our room. It would of been nice for a warning that we would be kept up from the music. We are old, in mid to late 70’s. I needed to dry my hair, it said that they provided hair dryers as an amenity, yes… but one had to go the front office to actually checkout a cheap hair dryer, and sign a receipt. Really ? If I had known that I would of brought my own, then I was informed that they did not do concierge services to call to make reservations anywhere else. But they did have you sign a receipt for the $2 fee for a local call, which I paid in cash. They made the call in the lobby, transferred it to the lobby phone and you talked to the person whom you wanted. Prior to my visit I emailed twice to see if they would make a reservation for me at a local cooking school and they never answered and I missed out on attending. The restaurant was lacking in quality but the breakfast wait staff were superb, the food itself usually came cold. Poached eggs are not good stone cold and the eggs Benedict came with less than 1 tablespoon of Hollandaise sauce, pretty dry. Loved the gals who waited on us. I have been going to Jamaica since 1987, I liked the people who worked there, the guards at the beach were all great guys, Brandon, Andrew and Steve. Hard workers. The beach was great. Will we return? We think so, maybe they will do some renos. The small family run hotels are disappearing and that’s not a good thing. Maybe they will have a great recovery after covid and do some changes. I hope so.
Nice and easy stay
I love going to Coco La Palm. It's quant, quiet and safe. If i'm traveling solo, this is a good place in Negril. The staff is friendly and helpful. The location is perfect; across the street from a good local restaurant and near several good spots (The Italian Cafe). Delta Vacations provides excellent travel packages that provide great value for a short stay (4 - 7 days).
