  OK experience

  My butlers Nathaly and Joshua were ABSOLUTELY Amazing and kind. They did everything right and were attentive. However, the other staff?! Horrible. Lorelai at the Italian restaurant made me wait 20 min at the Italian & pizza restaurant on 5th Avenue and then after waiting in the rain for 20 min she proceeded to the tell me I cannot be seated. No apology was given or anything. I am an ETC member and room service only came to clean my room whenever requested. I had to basically hunt them down just to clean my room. Maybe the rest of the staff should take lessons from the butlers.

  Catalonia needs changes in attitude, service and repair

  Our family group of 15 had 4 rooms and spent Christmas week at the resort. The location is great and the beach gorgeous. The restaurants, apart from the buffet, are small and difficult to get a reservation for. Unless you’d like to order a few expensive bottles of alcohol. Then you can get in at any time. We strongly disliked this upselling! So distasteful and manipulative. Avoid the steak restaurant. It was the scene of our worst meal and service ever. Steak was tough and much of it inedible. Fish was totally burnt. Sides arrived a half hour after mains. Some mains arrived an hour later than the others. No offer of dessert. No apologies when we complained. And for this we paid for 3 bottles of champagne. This hotel seems to cater to the Executive guests. The executive area of the beach features 50 lounges which are mostly empty while the rest of us are scrounging for chairs. It’s a long hike to a bathroom from the beach. The bathrooms are generally far and few between and not well signed. The shower in my sons’ room had a sheet of plywood for one glass wall which must’ve broken. Guests should never be placed in a room in this sort of condition. The toilets ran incessantly in 3 rooms of our party. This hotel could really use a handyman. Oh, and if you like an ocean view, you’re unlikely to get it here. Unless you substantially upgrade. A vast majority of the rooms closely face the other buildings in the complex.

  Not bad. Not great.

  Very nice four-star rooms. Very average three-star food. All of the restaurants are noisy and uncomfortable fitted with cafeteria style furniture. This is likely by design to ensure fast turnover. There is simply no place to have a quiet comfortable romantic dinner.

  Great trip to Costa Mujures

  We stayed at Catalonia Grand Costa Mujeres during the first week of December 2025 and had a great experience. We booked a private van for our return transportation so we could go directly to the resort without multiple stops, and I highly recommend doing the same it made the arrival so much easier. The resort itself was extremely clean and well maintained. The staff were friendly, helpful, and consistently made our stay feel relaxed. Check‑in was fast and smooth, which was a pleasant surprise compared to other resorts we’ve visited. The entertainment team was another highlight of our stay, especially Francisco (“Funny Frankenstein”). He went out of his way every day to engage with the kids in our group, getting them involved in pool games, dancing, and activities they’re still talking about. His energy and genuine interest in making sure everyone had fun really stood out. The food throughout the week was good, though not necessarily the highlight of the trip. There were a couple of days when the food trucks were closed, which disappointed the kids, but we always found something tasty without much trouble. The beach is one of the best I’ve experienced at a resort — wide, clean, and usually very calm. We did have two days with bigger waves, but honestly, we enjoyed that too. One thing to note is that the room category and bracelet color do come with certain perks or limitations. We traveled with three families, and because of a last‑minute booking, we weren’t all able to book the same level. The price difference was under $1000 CAD, but it did affect things like access to one of the beach bars and where we were seated in some restaurants depending on who made the reservation. It wasn’t a major issue, but it wasn’t something we noticed in the booking details beforehand. Overall, we had a great stay and would definitely return.

  Lobby Bar Exception Service with Job

  Our best experience was with Job at the lobby bar, who would greet us with a smile and positive experience each and every morning during our daily espresso and americano run. Job lead his team of Maria and Orlando who also seemed to be trained by Job. While the overall experience at the resort was average, Job and his team were a pleasure to visit each and every morning during our stay, in addition to being informative and knowledgeable with all questions and requests.
