Dated, Hot and not a relaxing stay

We planned our vacation for Hawaii in 2026 and were going to book a vacation package. We wound up booking it all through United Airlines, which partners with Priceline. I only mention this because they have a strict cancellation policy and it's more difficult to cancel. We looked at many hotels and we settled on this one because my family and I stayed at an Outrigger on Maui last year and had a great time. It was a similar condo rental. It was owned by someone and rented through outrigger. Since we had such a great time on that one last year, we thought this one would be the same. We could not have been more wrong. Before finally renting, I chatted when an online "agent" (seems like it was an AI bot more like it) to confirm that the rooms had air conditioning. It seemed a little misleading on various reviews. They assured me the rooms do have a/c. They were wrong. We got to our room and checked in and right away we noticed it did not have a/c. That was the first bad mark. The front desk did offer us box fans and had many for us to take. So this can't be the first time they have had this complaint. It's like they knew it was coming. To make the room bearable, we had to have both ceiling fans on and two box fans on. One of the ceiling fans squeaked horribly when on the high setting, so we could only handle that for so long then had to slow it down a bit. The condo also doesn't have glass windows. all they have are screens and then shudders over each that you have to open to get any air circulating. So the multiple fans, then all of the outside noise you hear in the place just to bring the temp down under about 85 degrees made for a very loud and unpleasant stay. The beds were very uncomfortable. The pillows seem like they haven't been replaced in years. they provided very little to no support. The place was generally just dark as well. the bathroom lights didn't light up very well. So taking a shower was like taking it in a cave. They don't rotate the towles very often, so you have to move a fan into the bathroom to get the towels to dry. They beach has really one little hut with some things you can rent and get towels at. They give you cards at the front desk for towels, and you are supposed to only get one set of towels each day. Luckily they didn't seem to be enforcing that. But you had to turn in the towel cards at the end of the trip to the front desk. If not, it was a $25.00 fine per card. The hut closes at 5:30 each night, so we stayed later at the beach and couldn't get our cards until the next day. And the front desk wouldn't allow you to turn in the towels in, you had to go get the cards. It is a minor nit, but adding up all the the rest of the issues it just made it more unenjoyable. Like others have pointed out, the pool is across the street from the property and away from the beach. It is technically walking distance, but it's approximately a 10 minute walk. The overall condo was very dated. It was not clean. I wouldn't call it dirty per set, but it just didn't seem clean. We vacuumed several times after we came back from the beach and the amount of stuff we were getting from the carpet was concerning. We attempted to cancel through priceline, which they had to call the property and try to reason with them to cancel. They didn't allow it. So we were stuck in the place. We were so uncomfortable however, that we wound up eating the cost and moving to a nicer hotel just down the street to a better hotel. If you are looking for a relaxing hotel with conveniences that normally come with things like an on-property hotel, small shop, restaurants, etc... this is not where you should stay. The only positive I can give this place is that it has good beach access. But do yourself a favor, stay at a nicer place and just park at the beach. You will have a much nicer vacation.

Great Place to Stay in Poipu

There are a lot of advantages to staying here. You are able to to immediately access the beach from the resort and walk a half mile to Poipu Beach (where the turtles haul out overnight). The townhomes are in a quiet, serene are of Poipu, but the town restaurants and shops are in walking distance. The grounds are well-maintained and there is a rental shack for beach towels, etc. The condo we stayed in was a bit small but still worked well for us with a full kitchen and patio to sit on in the mornings and evenings. Chickens and other birds are constant visitors to the patio.

Kiahuna Plantation Resort is a great place to stay!

Kiahuna Plantation Resort grounds are incredibly beautiful, and there are several beaches out in front of the resort and within easy walking distance. We loved seeing the turtles at nearby Poipu Beach! Employees at check in were warm and welcoming. Although our room was definitely in need of updating with new carpet, tile and furniture, it was clean and quite comfortable, with lots of drawer storage and a large closet. The kitchen in our unit was fully stocked with a refrigerator, dishwasher, dishes, utensils, and the ocean view from our balcony was fantastic. Family next door was loud and boisterous, which was somewhat bothersome at times since instead of windows, there are only louvres for privacy and screens. Other than that, it was quiet and lovely with all the birds singing. We loved all the fresh air flowing through all the time. If you are a bird lover, this resort is absolutely for you. They sing 24-7. And the roosters do their rooster thing. We booked this resort through Costco and feel it was a fair value for what we paid. There are many great restaurants, a couple of coffee shops, and a convenience store all within easy walking distance.

    Great place to stay

We really enjoyed staying here. It had a nice balcony, kitchen, etc. We were able to catch some tuna and cook it up there. We also used the community grills in the park area. The beach was great there too.
