Not for people with mobility issues
First off I would say if you have mobility issues book somewhere else. Lots of uneven surfaces and lots of hills, seniors and kids were struggling the week we were there. Rooms were very dated but fairly clean. Garden view room not much of a view. Beds were quite comfy and A/C worked and bathroom was ok, some in our group had toilet issues and took awhile for hot water in the shower. Food was pretty good for a 3.5* resort could always find something to eat at the buffet. Ala carte were pretty good Italian, Mexican and Seafood we tried them all, the Mexican twice probably our favourite. You line up in the seafood restaurant at 10am to make a reservation and we had no problem getting a reservation when we wanted. Pools were great after all day in the sun, very refreshing. One tip I would suggest you put your towel out before you go for breakfast to save a chair otherwise it’s hard to find a chair later on in the day. Beach was great both private and public, sand was nice, and water was actually warmer than the pools, unfortunately for us the beach was only open 2 of 7 days we were there otherwise closed with red flags. Bars and drinks were great, most bartenders were ok but some not very friendly. Hugo at the bar by the buffet was great always friendly and smiling. Maids we encountered did not speak English and could be hard to communicate with, they did a good job and a little tipping goes a long way. Front desk staff were quite rude most of the time and they tend to help Spanish speaking people first before English people Wifi cost $18US for 7 days and it’s still quite spotty, lobby worked pretty good, sometimes by the family pool, sometimes by the boce balls, and worked pretty well by the sitting area by the buffet but non existent in the rooms. Safe in the room cost extra I think $18 for the week but we didn’t trust that so we brought a lock from home and just locked our suitcase when we were not in the room. Shows in the evening were not to bad but our favourite was definitely the magic show One down fall is they only give you 1 room key per room and can be quite a pain for more the one person in a room or families per room. We talked with a couple who upgraded to select for more $$$ and they said there room was not much different than rest of the resort and didn’t think it was worth the extra money. We found most of the staff not very friendly and rude not like we have encountered in Mexico, Jamaica or the Bahamas. Tons of fellow Canadians at this resort and it does tend to fill up on the weekends when the locals come. Shopping for souvenirs and knit knacks is literally 100 feet outside the resort gates to the right down the street. Great guys to deal with and fun to barter with. One tip is avoid the first shop as he tends to be twice the price as the other guys for the same merchandise. Taxi just outside the resort a guy Named “Junior” was fantastic to deal with he has fair prices and he speak pretty good English. Drives a black Cadillac Escalade just across the street. Overall not a bad resort for a 3.5* resort but would definitely upgrade next time to at least a 4-5* resort in Mexico or someplace new.

Worst Experience Ever!! Infestation of Roaches, No water, Rusde and Confrontational Staff DISGUSTING
Day 1: December 31st – Poor Room Condition Upon Arrival We arrived at 10:30 PM and were given room 2402, which was in unacceptable condition: The bathroom door was broken and would get stuck when closing. The lamp was broken, and the toilet lid would not stay up, making it extremely inconvenient. The bathroom was dirty, with visible dirt and a wrapper left behind from the previous guest. Despite reporting these issues to reception, they showed little interest, did not offer an apology, and nothing was resolved. Day 2: January 1st – Cockroach Infestation and Additional Room Issues We discovered cockroaches in the fridge and bedroom. Additionally, the balcony door was broken and, after being forced open, it could no longer be closed. Despite reporting these issues to reception, we were told the hotel was fully booked, and no room change was possible. Again, there was no apology, and the issue was simply brushed aside. Day 3: January 2nd – Key Issues and Poor Buffet Service Key Malfunction: Our room key stopped working. Despite two trips to reception for a replacement, it still didn’t work, and we were left waiting in the hallway with a crying child for 25 minutes until maintenance finally arrived. Buffet Incident: When I asked for four slices of pizza at the buffet snack bar (two for each of my children), I was rudely told by staff that only two slices per person were allowed. Despite explaining that I was getting slices for my kids, the staff remained rude until the manager reluctantly allowed me four slices but only after being visibly annoyed. Day 4: January 3rd – No Hot Water and Poor Cleaning Service For the second consecutive day, there was no hot water in our room or in my mother-in-law’s room. We reported the issue to reception multiple times, but nothing was done. We had to shower in my sister-in-law’s room, which had hot water but no handle to regulate the temperature, forcing us to manually adjust a pin to control the water flow. Additionally, despite daily requests, we were only ever given three towels for four people. Reception continued to show little interest, offered no apology, and failed to resolve the issue. Day 5: January 4th – No Hot Water, Lost Electricity, and Disgusting Hygiene No Hot Water Continued: The hot water issue persisted, and the cockroach in the fridge remained. Lost Electricity: The resort lost electricity, and staff provided no explanation. Snack Bar Incident: At the snack bar, we were told we could only take two cookies per person, despite the small portion sizes and the resort’s claim of offering unlimited food and beverages. Disgusting Hygiene: At the snack bar, I witnessed a staff member lick his finger, dip it into the sauce, and suck his finger again to taste it. This was extremely unhygienic and unacceptable for any food service. Day 6: January 5th – No Water and Horrible Restaurant Experience No Water: On this day, we had no water at all, making it impossible for most of my family to brush their teeth. We reported it to reception, but again, nothing was done. Dirty Buffet Glasses and No Hand Washing Facilities: During breakfast, the glasses near the juice fountains were visibly dirty, and the toilets were overflowing with feces. There was no water to wash hands, and although hand sanitizer stations were available, they were all empty, forcing guests to handle buffet utensils without proper hygiene. Mexican Restaurant Incident: That evening, when we dined at the Mexican restaurant, we were served the wrong orders. When we politely pointed out the mistake, two waiters began yelling at us. This was completely unprofessional and unacceptable. Bar Service Incident: Later that night, at 1:03 AM, I asked the bartender for a Sprite for my 4-year-old. Despite the Sprite being right in front of him, he refused, repeatedly yelling, “It closed at 1!”. Moments later, I saw him serve drinks to another couple after receiving a tip. Day 7: January 6th – Health Concerns and Denial of Late Checkout Health Concerns: On our last day, I had to visit a pharmacy to purchase anti-diarrhea medication and Gravol for my children, who were vomiting and experiencing stomach issues. This was undoubtedly caused by the lack of water and poor hygiene at the resort. Denial of Late Checkout: Given all the issues we faced, we requested a late checkout so we could shower before leaving, even offering to pay for it. Despite all our complaints, we were denied late checkout. We were then assured we could use a room to shower later, but when we returned at 7:30 PM, we were told that no rooms were available. Overall Poor Service Throughout our stay, the staff — from reception to housekeeping, bar staff, and waitstaff — were consistently rude, confrontational, and unwilling to help. Every simple request was met with hostility, and we were made to feel like we were bothering the staff by asking for basic services. Despite reporting most of the issues to reception, there was little to no interest shown, and no apologies were ever offered. There was a logbook where incidents were supposed to be recorded, but when the manager reviewed it, we noticed that many of our complaints were missing, as were complaints from other guests. This indicates a deliberate effort to downplay the issues and avoid accountability. I had stayed at this resort in 2019 under Casa Marina Beach and Resort and had a great experience, which is why I chose to return and recommended it to the 10 other family members who joined us. This time, however, the experience was entirely different. The staff were hostile, and the resort failed to meet even the most basic expectations. I suspect this may be due to new management under Amhsa, but regardless, Sunwing is responsible for offering and promoting this resort as a 4-star property when it is clearly no more than a 2.5-star.

It wasn't what we expected
The place is beautiful. The food is okay. I went with a group of friends. My friend room had issues with the door key and the AC. Before checking out the water stop running. She had to go to another room to take a shower. We reserved another room with a private pool and a balcony. When we checked in the staff told us it was 24/7 use however, the security guard told us we can't be in our own private pool. Which made no sense. There only wifi and service in the rooms. If you go to the hallway or walking around the hotel the service is no good. Overall, the hotel was not what we expected. Yes it's nice but they could should work better on the check in process. Assuring all the rooms are working properly and if someone has a private pool they should have access to it.

very good hotel but bad employees
The food is good. I also like the pool areas. Some shows were better than others, but they were good. The hotel disco is very good. I only had discomfort with some employees, especially the young woman from the entertainment team who was getting drugs for my youngest son. 17 years old and I also wanted to take him out of the hotel, really be very careful with that young woman while she is there, I will never return to that resort

Do not book here - Shame on Sunwing
Awful experience - couldn’t have been worse. Too many issues to list in full - this is a split personality resort where only the ‘select’ accommodation is pictured. Real rooms at base rate are worse than imaginable. First room no lights, tub faucet not attached, bathroom ceiling bowed like it would collapse, no house phones working, no working smoke alarm, floor dirty and covered in debris, cigarette burns on melamine counter in bathroom - one towel. Had to remove headboard to access light switches. Second room next day same lighting issues. This room’s bathroom sink was leaking (why were my feet and legs getting wet as I washed my hands?); I walked to reception (remember house phones disconnected) to request plumber at 9:30 that morning; at 5:30 pm still no attention so I walk back up to reception and made a scene to get their attention and dude who WROTE down the need for maintenance call was still on duty! Two hours to replace the P trap! No dead bolt or peep holes in doors; no emergency exit plan; one day my room was not serviced yet mysteriously between dinner and bedtime someone came to my room removed nothing but left clean towels and 4 bottles of water so they knew the room had not been serviced. I was in rooms 2555 and 2558; there are 58 rooms on this floor with only 2 women to service each room every day - completely impossible for 2 people to “clean” 55-58 rooms each day. Explains why my floor was never cleaned the entire week. Hot water was scarce some days and other times took 15-20 minutes to actually arrive in the bathroom. Pools and surrounding areas not maintained or cleaned; 3 larger pool areas and 3 small pools at the ocean and 90% of loungers at all pools are broken - either plastic parts broken or mesh torn or pulled aware from frame. Bars, buffet dining room and a la carte restos all understaffed like the housekeeping ranks. 90% of the time, bars staffed by 1 person anytime of day or evening - impossible for one person to serve all guests. English nearly non-existent. Even reception staff struggled to communicate effectively in English.
