Expected better service from the hotel !

The hotel is large with 7 towers, it services a lot of guests and conventions. It seems that the personnel is quite overloaded with service calls, doesn't speak English at all, show up late or don't show up at all... like cleaning our room. We were gone for 7 hours and noone showed up. Also we asked for a duvet cover on our bed and noone knew what that was. Also we were asking to refill our water bottle, the coffee shop refused and made us buy water for $7 a bottle !

Great resort and gluten free options

My family and I spent two nights here and really enjoyed it. Our first impression was friendly staff and beautiful entry way. My kids loved the interactive floor. The pool was nice. My 5 year old loved the slide! My 1 year old loved the splash pad and playground.. The rooms were nice. We got a two queen suite. Plenty of space for all of us and when the kids sleep we were able to hang out In the living room. The food there was really good! There were alot of gluten free options! We absolutely loved the sports bar. Great music and golf/sport simulator! There were alot of activities to do. Honestly My only complaints would be the walls are thin I could hear hear people running around jumping at night and the pools were a little chilly. But it’s not a deal breaker becuse it was spring break and I have kids so I get it. We definitely will come back.

    Confirmed reservations are not honored

A Most Unfortunate Stay at the Caribe Royale, there's nothing Royale about it Dearest readers, Allow me to recount a most curious and disappointing affair that unfolded at the Caribe Royale this past weekend. Our party—six adults and 4 children—arrived with high hopes, having reserved not one, but two of the establishment’s grand villas, totaling well over $2,600 for the stay. Naturally, we also secured a confirmed cabana reservation, complete with a confirmation number and a rather strict cancellation policy—one might assume such details would imply the cabana actually exists for one’s use. Alas… this was not to be. After several attempts to reach the Fitness Center by telephone to confirm the cabana prior to arrival—calls which were answered by no one at all—we approached management upon arrival and the day of. There, with the calm confidence of someone announcing the weather, we were informed that our confirmed cabana reservation was “subject to availability.” One must admire the creativity. You see, this massive resort possesses a grand total of three cabanas. Yes, three. For a hotel of this size. It would appear the odds of securing one are roughly equivalent to drawing a royal flush while blindfolded. Despite presenting the confirmation email—complete with confirmation number and absolutely no language whatsoever about “subject to availability”—we were simply told there was nothing they could do. The grand solution offered for this royal inconvenience? A $100 beverage credit. A thoughtful gesture perhaps, if one were inconvenienced while purchasing a sandwich. Slightly less compelling when one’s party is spending over $2,600 on two villas for the weekend and had specifically planned the day around the cabana reservation. To make matters even more dramatic, our daughter slipped on one of the painted walkways that had been generously soaked by irrigation sprinklers, sending her tumbling and slamming her head onto the pavement. Thankfully she is okay, but the scene would have rivaled any dramatic fainting episode in a Regency ballroom. In summary, while the Caribe Royale may boast impressive buildings and grand ambitions, its cabana reservation system appears to function more as a suggestion than an actual reservation. For comparison, we have stayed at the Hilton numerous times and never encountered such a whimsical interpretation of what the word “reservation” means. Should you visit Caribe Royale and wish to enjoy a cabana, I recommend bringing luck, patience, and perhaps a carrier pigeon, as the telephone seems purely decorative. Yours in mild disbelief, A formerly hopeful guest

    Insect Infestation

This was our second stay at Caribe Royale and will definitely be our last. I *wanted* to like this place, but we've just had too many negative experiences. On our first stay, our child was injured by broken furniture in the room and housekeeping stole several items from us, but it was our second stay that pushed us over the edge. After a long day at the park, we returned to our Villa suite and quickly got our youngest to bed because we had a tour scheduled early the next morning. Afterwards, I went into the master bedroom and found that insects had rapidly infested our room, including the bed. It was NOT a small amount of bugs, and the more we killed, the more appeared. My husband went to the front desk to speak with the manager and the only thing she would offer was to have us move rooms, with no assistance, and no compensation; it really did not seem like she cared. After some pushback on my husband's part, she said she could give us $200 off for the night, which wasn't even half a night's compensation, and stated that was absolutely all she was willing to do. It took us hours to pack up all the belongings we had brought for a 10-day stay (including a fridge and freezer full of groceries), wake up our youngest child, take all three of our kids and our pet to a different building, unpack, and then get the kids back to bed. It was a massive inconvenience that took up our entire evening and left everybody exhausted the next day. If we're paying hundreds of dollars for a room so that we can be rested and enjoy our vacation, it shouldn't come with an insect covered bed and the requirement that we spend hours moving our belongings and our sleeping children. This hotel is just too big to care about individual customers. It feels like a drive-thru, where they don't care if you leave, because somebody else will be there next.
