Dec 04, 2025Nice stay on the coast of San Juan
We recently stayed at Caribe Hilton during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. We arrived on Wednesday and departed Sunday. The hotel was busy compared to our previous stay the prior days. Even though the hotel was busy, we had an enjoyable experience. Check-in was easy and efficient. We arrived around 3:30pm and were seen quickly. We had an Ocean View with 2 Queen beds. Our room was nice, though needs some upgrades shortly, as it was in the older part of the Hotel. We headed down to the pool area, which was very crowded. The rest of the days though, there was plenty of seats and lounge chairs. The same thing with the beach. All the lounge chairs were taken, so we walked to the end where we put down our 4 towels. It actually turned out to be a great place, as 20 minutes later, 3 iguanas came out of the plants to hang out. The kids loved it. The rest of the week, we did not have a problem finding lounge chairs. The service by the beach was nice, as the guys were constantly around if you needed food or drinks. The service for our 5 days was fantastic. All the staff was friendly, and the facilities were clean. The restaurants were also good, especially the Italian. The onsite Starbucks was usually packed in the mornings as expected. We had an awesome experience and will definitely be back.

The best thing about this hotel is the location, other then that I would say this hotel is just average. The people there were NOT very friendly and the rooms were pretty run down. The restaurants and bar ALL work from ONE kitchen therefore when you order your looking at almost an hour wait, who wants to wait an hour for your order. There were NOT enough lounge chairs to accamodate all the guests staying at the hotel so therefore if your not down by 9 am your looking at not finding a seat till after 1 pm. The few waiters and waitresses who served us made me feel like they were doing me a favor by serving me. Definitely NOT what I expected from a Hilton.

Good hotel with great location. All the attractions in San Juan are very near by. Room looks a bit old, but it was clean. There are some sort of entertainment going on in lobby like live music or art booths. Overall I had good experience.

Would Come back
We just came back from a five day stay at this hotel. First, you need to remember, this is a hotel, it's not a sprawling all-inclusive resort. We utilized the pools and beach area everyday. The pools were FREEZING. The beach area was so nice, the water was calm enough to walk in and swim. My kids loved both areas. We were served and checked on in both areas. We stared in the beach wing, which I guess is the oldest wing, but the room was still nice and clean. We ate at the Italian restaurant, which was good, not extraordinary. We have been to italy and eaten at some really great italian places in chicago (where we are from) so Italian is hard to beat. The food at the bar in the (Caribar) was honestly the best we had. we also ate outside at the pools and that food was great too. We did not eat at mortons or the buffet breakfast.

Go for the views
My daughters and I stayed at the Carib over Thanksgiving and we definitely enjoyed our stay. You definitely come here for the ocean views so make sure your room has one. The pools and the beach are beautiful. Lots of restaurant options. Rooms are beginning to show their age and could use an update. I also had an issue with check-in, the room I selected wasn’t available at the 4:00 check-in time, and I was told we would have a wait of 2 hours. We ultimately had to switch rooms. Overall, enjoyed it, but we may look elsewhere next time.
