3 weeks winter break at beautifully designed hotel, loved mangroves, all the wildlife this is quite unique. Ground staff worked tirelessly to keep hotel grounds neat, tidy and well trimmed. Good size room which was kept pristine every day, Melania from housekeeping is brilliant at her job and does it with a smile. Staff were always cleaning throughout the hotel, it was spotless. Good food selection in Food Market (buffet), (but no citrus fruit)! bookable specialist restaurants, recommend El Pion and TAO Teppanyaki. Good Coffee/ tea and ice cream shop. Some very annoying gender specific bar staff! My partner gave up queuing to be served several times. Interpersonal skills of staff opening Spa/Gym late needs attention, manners doesn’t cost anything, how about hola, buenos dias, hi, hello, this does not apply to trainer in the gym who was very attentive. Staff going the extra mile Flor/both Ana’s/Adalgisa/Frank/Damason. Also Francis in adults bar and Ruth concierge. Entertainment team around the pool/beach was a good vibe. Plenty of sunbeds around 3 pools and beach. Don’t agree with VIP and the hard sell when you check in, hotel is either 5 star or not. Dominican and staff weekly show is a plus. It’s quiet at night as rooms are far away from reception entertainment. We were unhappy that the hotel allowed numerous weekly vendors on site, also disguised time share office. We love to see how local people live in countries we visit, this is the 13th Caribbean Island visited. Enjoyed daily walks out of hotel and felt very safe, trips to Santo Domingo and Los Haitises National Park Tour, Sabana De La Cave and La Española Mangroves. TUI rep Cheyenne is brilliant at her job.

El Pilon
The resort is amazing !. We loved the Restaurant El Pilon Dominicano. Santos, Laura and Starling were very nice and professional. The food was delicious. We had a great time dinning at El Pilon. Pablo and Claudia from New Jersey USA.

Adequate Vacation
This resort has a very nice layout. The vaulted lobby is gorgeous and the accommodation buildings, which surround the pools, are quite lovely. I enjoyed our partial ocean-view room overlooking the pool area in building A. It never got too loud for us. The food is adequate - nothing stood out about it but it wasn't horrible. The pool area is very nice. I love the layout which has a large walk-in entry leading to a bar area which is usually quite busy with drinkers standing around, followed by a less populated area with lots of space to relax, then an activity area which the animation team uses frequently for events. The beach is nice but it is difficult to get a decent place to sit (or sometimes any place to sit). The upgrade areas are very expensive. So if you're not up early or willing to pay a lot more, you may not get a chair or two. The water is not calm on the beach. The waves crash in and it is fine for people who want to play around but it is not a place to relax. I saw multiple people get knocked down either trying to get into the water or trying to get out. Most employees will go out of the way for you if you tip them. They are working hard but rely on that extra cash. I got a couple upgrades on things but had to pay cash. Generally it was pretty clean but areas were under constant maintenance. The wildlife is fun to watch, including the flamingos and waterfowl, peacocks, and iguanas. Overall I feel like this is not a five star resort, but it is nice. I probably won't return as I would opt for a beach with calmer water.

DISSAPOINTED
Everyone was rude , pumping foul Sewage when we returned for dinner so it was an unpleasant smell and LOUD noise when we wanted returned and be on our balcony we PAID FOR … which was EXTRA!! Food was awful, Mexican restaurant was just poor quality. Stay here if you want an awful time. Seriously unhappy. Only Thing good was the beautiful birds and Beach. What a disappointment.
