Very Honest Review
Loungers: I was worried about them after all the reviews, but we didn't get them only on our first day, maybe it's because the time of the year before Christmas and the resort is kinda empty. But we see some people actually fighting for them. Food: I was actually surprised by the food, everything fresh made and pretty good, just the buffet by the main pool at lunch time is not good, we tried it once, and after that our lunches were always at the other buffet. The a la carte restaurants are pretty good. Beach is bad, I mean bad, but if you walk like 10 minutes to the left of the resort, the lagoon is amazing. Pools: we tried the quiet pool only once but our kid found it boring so we spent our days at the main one,he loved that, volleyball, basketball, ping pong, and lots of entertainment, but kinda loud and noise. Staff: for sure the best of the resort, they are extremely friendly and do everything to make you happy, a special thank you to Ana Karen our housekeeper, such a sweet lady, every day after breakfast we returned to a super clean room with cute towel animals on our beds holding flowers, she was amazing, please don't forget to tip them they really deserve it for working so hard always with a smile on their faces. Resort: Needs a huge renovation, has so much potential but is neglected big time, the black and white bar is pretty bad, the theater is terrible it's not a theater actually just a bunch of chair in front an improvised stage hot as hell, we tried to watch a show one night but gave up after 10 minutes because that was unbearable hot. They need way more golf carts to drive people around, we didn't mind to walk but there are lots of elders on this resort who wait for a very long time for a ride. So many wildlife, we love them but watch your balconies, never leave the doors unlocked because they are very smart and open them and make such a mess in your room. We stayed at the building 2 and everything works perfectly, elevator, A/C, hot shower, our fridge wasn't working properly but they sent someone to fix it when we called the reception. We travel to Mexico twice a year, this time of the year to scape the cold canadian winters and always pick a cheaper resort to stay and during the school holidays when we go for 5* ones. We can't really complain about our week at The BlueBay, but I wouldn't stay for more than 7 days as it becomes kinda boring for the lack of entertainment in the evenings. but we won't be back

Awesome Service by Ruperta
My friend and I were consistently served by Ruperta at the Jall-Ha buffet for breakfast and lunch. She was very kind, always kept our drinks filled, very polite and considerate. Highly recommend seeking Ruperta at Jall-Ha buffet! She will not disappoint!

Good to know before you go
My husband and I have spent another very good week in this resort. It was my 4th time here. Last year we bought a membership with Circle One to enjoy a little more services since we go once a year with my daughter's family. The main asset of the Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda is their staff. Our week is made special by Ruperta, Candido and Esther at the beach buffet. Israel at the beach bar with Samuel and Andres. The rooms are okay but they are seriously in need of TLC (Tender loving care). The food is good even though it is often repetitive. The main buffet is okay too. The beach has sargasses but they are picking it up a couple of times a day. The water is brown from the sand. We rarely see people swimming there. But the 2 pools are great. There is animation all day. The biggest problem is that they miss at least half the lounge chairs. They had more but a lot has disappeared since March 2024.Weird?! We enjoy going to this family resort with our grandchildren. The kids'club is a plus for them... And their parents. 😊 Finally if you choose to go knowing that it is more a 3 * than a 5 *you will have a great time.

Poor quality hotel, avoid it!
This hotel is absolutely terrible, rooms smell like mold, the grounds are full of smelly swamps, there aren't enough chairs on the beach for all guests, rooms are cleaned randomly, items missing when restocking them. Avoid it, very poor quality for a 5 star hotel!!!
