Horrible hotel room
Although I made our reservation for a Harbor View room 2 months prior, when we checked in the management could only give us a room with a large staircase outside our balcony, which was the "view." We asked for our promised Harbor View and was assigned another room down the hallway with a similar staircase outside the balcony. The management offered us no other room and so the reservation was canceled. This date was a very special anniversary celebration, so that was ruined. The receptionist and manager were very uncaring. Don't book this hotel!

Another Best Western Francise Owner a scammer - BEWARE
I made a reservation, and I received an email confirmation of the rate some nites were $154 a night and some $199 a night for a 13-night stay total was $2,607.14 for my entire stay. Then later that day I just happened to log into my best western account and the nightly and total price was now changed! My new total showed I owed $2,968.55 with no acknowledgement from me. When I called the hotel, they said they get the government rate of $199 a night. Even though their website advertises $174 a night for gov rate for those nights. So the management team at the hotel just changed the rate in their records and didn't even let me know. Surprise! These franchise owners at Best Western's do whatever they want so BEWARE! This is my 2nd issue with a Best Western. Last time as I showed up and the hotel and they said I was banned. (Because I got a cheaper rate online and they could get a higher rate from someone else walking in so they said I was banned from the hotel). Like I said they do WHATEVER they want. You have NO GURANTEE YOU HAVE A RESERVATION OR HOW MUCH YOU'RE GOING TO PAY. Stay at Marriott or any hotel for goodness' sake and at least you know what you're paying and that you have a guaranteed place to stay.

Comfortable Stay and Good Location – Staff Could Be Friendlier
We stayed here during our San Diego trip and overall had a decent experience. The room was a bit dated, but it was spacious, airy, and the beds were comfortable — which is what matters most after long sightseeing days. The breakfast buffet offered a good variety and was adequate for a satisfying start to the day. However, during peak breakfast hours, it was nearly impossible to find a table. One morning, we even had to stand while eating. One of the best features was the free guest parking — always a plus in city hotels. The location was also very convenient, with nice cafés and restaurants within walking distance. We watched the 4th of July fireworks from the harborfront just across the street and then walked back to the hotel easily. The only downside was the overall attitude of the staff. Regardless of the time of day or who we interacted with, the front desk staff seemed rather unfriendly and disengaged. It was a noticeable contrast to other hotels we stayed at during our trip. Not rude, just not welcoming. I’m not sure why. Still, the comfort, location, and parking made it a solid base for exploring San Diego.
