  Two Bed Bugs, No Help, and Hours Wasted – Completely Unacceptable

  This was one of the worst hotel experiences we have ever had. Shortly after checking in to Room 104 at Best Western Plus Monterey Inn, while unloading our luggage and preparing to settle in, we discovered TWO bed bugs on the bed—before we had even used the room. This clearly indicates the issue already existed prior to our arrival and raises serious concerns about the hotel’s cleanliness and inspection standards. We immediately reported this to the front desk. However, the response was unacceptable. The staff showed no urgency, had a poor attitude, and even told us to contact the manager ourselves. There was no proper escalation or immediate action taken. We then spent nearly TWO HOURS waiting for a resolution. The only “solution” offered was to have housekeeping replace the bed sheets, which is completely inadequate and alarming for a bed bug situation. This shows a serious lack of understanding of basic hygiene and guest safety. As of 11:00 PM on March 29, we had still received no contact or follow-up from hotel management regarding this serious issue. The complete lack of accountability is extremely concerning. Traveling with children, we did not feel safe staying in the room and had no choice but to check out and find another hotel at the last minute, which caused significant stress, inconvenience, and disruption to our plans. The hotel offered no assistance in relocating us. Although a refund was eventually provided, it does not make up for the time lost, the stress caused, and the unacceptable handling of a serious health concern. This experience reflects serious problems with cleanliness, staff training, and management responsiveness. We strongly urge others to reconsider staying here.

  Good Hotel but no AC

  had a good stay at the Best Western in Monterey. The location is great—close to major attractions—and the hotel was clean with a solid breakfast selection. The only downside was that it wasn’t disclosed that the rooms don’t have AC, which made it uncomfortably warm at night and difficult to sleep. Overall, a convenient and clean place to stay, but better transparency about amenities would improve the experience.

  Very comfortable stay

  This hotel is located very close to the Asilomar conference grounds- I was attending a conference there. The breakfast is very so-so but I really liked the rooms. They were comfortable and well appointed. Each “room” consisted of 2 rooms and a bathroom. There were two beds, one in each room and a door between them. If you are a family of 4, you would be very comfortable. This hotel was value for money for a family of 4.

  Nice, quiet and clean room. Walking distance to the wharf and Down town

  Staff was efficient. Breakfast room was very small and limited items served. Loved the room and the location. Nice underground parking

  A really delightful pleasant place to stay

  One of the nicest places we have stayed in, starting with a most pleasant and comprehensive check in experience, the room was spotless and very comfortable even though it is not the newest everything is in superb condition and even the gardens are beautifully kept . Really highly recommend
