Approved for San Jose stay
Barcelo San Jose is a good choice for business purpose stays in Costa Rica, close to the Airport and to the main highway, makes you save time and money in transfers and some entertainment options during dinner.

Never Again, a real nightmare
You travel to relax and you stay in hotels to be treated with a smile and respect and for staff to be able to assist you with your needs, A front desk staff told me to hold on while reading a piece of paper when I just need it to know were is the breakfast restaurant located, he could have stop reading and respond to my need. The time he took by telling me and family to hold on because he was reading…he could just ask me how can I assist you, and his look he gave us with his glasses on was so rude that I was going to put him in his place but I was with my family and didn’t want them to experience more bad experiences so we walked away till we found the restaurant, unbelievable

Beware Theft By Employees Ignored by Hotel Managment
In my 56 years of travelling all over the globe, this is the first hotel i have had money stolen from my personal belongings in my room. To add insult to injury, the hotel management responded with a cavalier attitude basically blaming me for the theft of $460 from my medicine bag, that was tucked away in a drawer when i left the room, Stayed for last 2 nights of my month long trip to Costa Rica before catching flight home. Checked in January 2. On January 3 i left hotel at approximately 930 am. When i returned to my room, my room door was OPEN and a maintenance man was working on a hose outside my room. Not sure why my room was open for this but didn't occur to me at the time. Housekeeping had already cleaned room. My medicine bag was on the counter at that time. A little bit later i noticed some items out of my medicine bag, then was alerted to check the bag and was shocked to find $460 USD i had tucked into the bag, was missing. Immediately went to front desk, they informed me that would check the cameras and key card entries to the room for the time I was not in my room. They informed me i would have a report the next morning. I went to front desk next morning at 7 am. The personnel didn't seem aware of my issue but informed me that the security person that dealt with that wasn't in yet. I was kinda blown off. I had to catch the van to the airport at 8 am. Pretty quickly i received a hotel stay survey and responded with complaint about not receiving a response yet to my issue. The response to the survey was quick, explaining that I had not filled out any report that is necessary to investigate the complaint while at the hotel (none was offered) and blaming me that i should have used the in room safe. Futher apparently any losses are in some type of fine print and not the responsiblity of the hotel. The lack of concern ffrom managment leads one to believe it might be a scheme possibly involving management and employee collusion. Recommendation DO NOT STAY HERE

Great breakfast
We had a great stay in this hotel. Staff was helpful and friendly. The pool looked super nice and we saw a gentleman taking good care of it. Breakfast had great costa Rican breakfast. Even when we had a tour pick up at 6.20 they provided some breakfast to take away. The water pressure was excellent in the room. Very clean. Wr had to take a point off because of two things. Unfortunately our room had a single bed and a tiny "queen size" bed. As a couple we had to sleep in two different beds. Also the internet was terrible in the room. The one place to catch up with the family was right at the gate to the street.
