First time
Overall we had a great time other than the return flight delays to to the overall amount of flights. It would be beneficial if you warned travelers to increase their time between connections during your extremely busy times.

You won't find a better resort experience
We had a great stay at Barceló Maya Palace. The resort is absolutely beautiful, with lots of pools, shaded lounge chairs, hammocks under cabanas, and a gorgeous beach lined with palm trees. The room was spacious, very clean, and comfortable, with excellent air conditioning, a large bathroom, and a great balcony where we could watch tropical birds in the palm trees. The grounds were also stunning, with fountains, statues, and picturesque courtyards throughout. There is so much to do across the resort as well, from water slides and a water park to go-karts, bowling, shopping, and nightly entertainment, but it is also just as easy to spend the whole trip relaxing by the pool or on the beach. The dining was a bit more mixed. The buffets offered a huge variety, but the quality was definitely better if you went right when they opened, since some of the food could feel like it had been sitting out a little too long. The à la carte restaurants were a step up, with nice service and ambience, but the food still did not feel especially memorable. The biggest frustration was the reservation system, which really needs improvement. Having to go through guest services to book restaurants, with limited reservations and often very late dinner times, felt unnecessarily inconvenient for a resort of this size, especially for families with younger kids. What really made the trip stand out was how relaxing and welcoming everything felt. The staff were consistently warm, pleasant, and attentive, and they did an incredible job making us feel at home and taken care of throughout the stay. The beach was warm, clean, and full of marine life, although there were some rocky areas in and around the water, so water shoes would be a smart idea for some guests. Overall, this is a fantastic family resort with an impressive amount to do, plenty of ways to unwind, and a staff that truly helps make the whole experience special.

Reservations Re: Reservations
My small family loved this resort. The beach and grounds were beautiful. The entertainment was engaging and fun without being too juvenile or mature. Our only complaint was the reservation process for the specialty restaurants. On checkin day you can make 2 reservations then each day after only 1. The resort seems to use a giant slow spreadsheet to accomplish this task among all the property restaurants and only had a single employee at each guest services desk. This resulted in long lines and much waiting in the morning, especially when people were making reservations for 10-20 guests at a time. There is no app or ability to request before check in. Unless you want to eat buffet every night 30 min to an hour will be spent hoping a reservation is available. Don't lose you reservation ticket either or they might send you to different restaurant (happened 1st evening for us).

Nice Spring Break
Grounds are superb. Very well appointed rooms and quite comfortable. Housekeeping does a wonderful job. The pool at Maya Palace is excellent. Buffets can be good when you find what you like, but some food quality was lacking and was not always hot. Breakfast was fine with no issues, but lunch and dinner was disappointing at times. Getting restaurant reservations is probably the most frustrating experience. This certainly needs attention. The restaurants we experienced were wonderful, but getting a reservation before 9 PM was a chore. Room Service rarely answered their phone and they did not follow up with their stated actions to serve us. We enjoy Barcelo very much, but the restaurant situation needs access improvements to compliment the stay and experience.
