16th Awesome Visit, Wonderful Resort, Great Value
Another great visit to the Barcelo Maya Resort. This marked our 16th visit to this exceptionally well run property. The facilities are spotless and impeccably maintained. Facilities are sized such that wherever you go including the pools, beach, buffets, bars, ala cartes, etc. you never feel crowded. There are endless opportunities for structured activities and entertainment. We found that the quality of the food at the buffets and ala cartes is incredible and there are seemingly endless choices of things to eat. After 16 visits we are impressed with the consistency of service Barceló service standards. Overall, the value to staying at Barcelo Maya Palace is hard to beat. One last thing that makes this place stand out and that is the friendliness and professionalism of the staff. Everywhere you go staff smile and greet you with a hola, even the maintenance people. Staff members that went above and beyond in making this great trip even more memorable included Carey Bar staff members Angelica Acosta, Gabriela Morales, Francisco B, Jorge R, Jesus Chan, Gerardo Cantun, Leonardo C, and Raul R at Rodizio and Victor and Marcos at Brasserie and Valeno May at La Trattoria and Jose Enrique at Hacienda. Guest Service agent Evelyn Correa was also most helpful. Thank you Barcelo staff!!! See you next year for visit number 17.

Would not go back to Palace, Perhaps I'd try the other ones.
Pros: - Beautiful grounds and large rooms. Bed was comfortable. - Food is diversified, a lot of vegetable options. - Service in 'à la carte' restaurants was good. - The beach (Sargassium was present while I was there but it's natural thing they can't do anything about). - You can go to the other resort around (colonial, caribe, etc), the bus system is pretty neat. Cons: - You can feel they really don't value their guest: The checkins is awful, we saw people waiting for more than 3 hours in the lobby. Who makes people waste precious vacation hours like that? We travelled with our extended family and they would always insist on sitting each apart to avoid taking a minute to move a table. They did that at each meal. They don't serve wine in the rooms even in Premium, you can only buy overpriced alcool at their shop and if you need a bottle opener, they won't provide you one, you need to buy one for 16$. There is no restaurant next to the pool so you have to dress up and go the buffet for lunch. The wine they serve is undrinkable and they don't have Rosée. The entertainement was of very low quality. I think people who give good reviews on that went to the other resort part (Caribe probably) because the shows were terrible. Overall we had an okay time but I don't think I would be back at Palace. I would look at the whole resort map and choose to stay close to the action. And it ai'nt at Palace.

Amazing time!
This was our first trip to Mexico and to an all-inclusive and we couldn’t have asked for a better location or better staff. I’d say the only downside is the cost of souvenirs and snacks are a little pricey but it’s to be expected when there really is nothing too close by off resort. We did take a taxi into Playa Del Carmen for a quick trip and that was about $70USD round trip, but might be worth it for shopping/nightlife if that’s your thing.
