Shout out to ALFONSO BUSTOS - maitre d’ at the seafood restaurant last night. Alfonso provided exceptional service to our group. Seating us at a table to watch the sun set and checking in with us regularly to make sure we were happy. Thank you Alfonso for the exceptional service.

Our 2nd vacation to the Barcelo didn't disappoint. Very convenient to the beach and hotel amenities. Food and service was great. The concierge went out of her way to assist. Our favourite vacation spot

relaxing winter getaway
Here is a polished version of your review: We recently stayed for two weeks at Barceló Ixtapa and had a very relaxing holiday. Most days were spent enjoying the lounge chairs by the pool, which quickly became our favorite spot. The pool bar service was excellent — the waiters and bartenders consistently made sure we were well looked after. A special thank you to Jose Bailon for his outstanding and friendly service. Housekeeping did a very good job keeping the rooms clean every day. The rooms themselves are a bit dated, but since we mainly used them for sleeping, this was not a concern for us. The Italian and seafood à la carte restaurants were enjoyable, although after a longer stay we did wish there were more dining options available for guests staying beyond one week. The beach directly in front of the resort is beautiful and well maintained, and the location is excellent — it’s easy to walk to nearby restaurants and shops outside the resort. We attended the Mexican Fiesta dinner one evening; however, the lighting around the buffet area was quite poor, making it difficult to see the food selections clearly. Overall, we had a wonderful time. We met several guests who return to Barceló Ixtapa year after year, and after our experience, we understand why. We are already planning to come back again.

1 out of 5 We paid $$$$ to stay here the room felt like a storage room. We had to request a king bed. Still no balcony, our room smelt of sewer our entire stay. We were not allowed to go to any ala cartes. We stayed 2 night and had to go to buffet which food was disappointing. We felt the drinks were watered down. We have stayed for less money in a 3 star and received nicer rooms, better food and better drinks. We’re were very disappointed with our overall stay. Very dated hotel for being a 5 star and charging $$$$.
