Great resort and spa
The spa was amazing! Had a great experience with Yolanda and Brenda doing a deep tissue massage with my mom that really helped my body relax. The resort was great too and had a nice gym multiple pools and a great beach. Definitely recommend!!!

Exceptional Staff
What a wonderful two weeks we had for our third stay here at the Barcelo....a few of the many employees who made our vacation so perfect are Joshua in the restaurants who is the happiest guy always, Manuela our housekeeping lady that deserves the employee of the month award, Luis Rios at the Miramar bar who always got our water after our morning beach walks, Lucio the oustanding pool waiter, Candelario who made sure we had water, cerveza and snacks every day in the room, and Alberto,Constintina and Brenda at the front desk who were so helpful and really nice people....the weather was perfect for the whole two weeks and can't say enough good things about the food...the Italian, Seafood and buffet were excellent and the Thanksgiving supper was exceptional...this was our eighth vacation in Ixtapa and we are always so impressed with the area....looking forward to next November already.....

Wonderful resort, staff and area
We were impressed right from the start, (after booking this resort) when I fb messaged and asked a few questions and had a request, we got a reply, and not just a generic response, but a personal one, and also information on the area, about the whales and more. Our question was, can we have an a la carte on our first night of arrival. They said they have the restaurant schedule on the 24th, and someone would get back to me that day. They did! And the email was so welcoming from Paulina. Customer service is what makes the vacation! We absolutely loved the resort, the staff, the area, the cleanliness, food/restaurant options, the gorgeous building, the pools, the view that took our breath away every time we walked into our room (10th floor), the long beach walks. We also went Premium, and usually do because we want an a la carte option for every night. We never experienced Time Share people, and not one staff member asked us to put anything on Trip Advisor. Where to start...the staff, and I may miss someone, and I am sorry, but I couldn't get everyone's name, I tried! We had exceptional service from, Adrienne, ( we loved visiting with you) Lucio, Alfredo, Eesy, Paloma (loved our visit with you!) Marlen, Blanca, our maid Breyda, and Carlos at the front entrance, so helpful and informative, special mention to Anciento, Migel, Marcus, Salvador, Eduardo, Marina, the Premium staff, front desk staff, the lovely ladies at each a la carte entrance, Guadalupe, AND the lovely little sweet ladies that do the turn down service at night, they are just so cute, and the Pool drink service people! I apologize if I missed anyone, but all the staff made our trip more memorable and that is what will have us coming back. We at breakfast in the courtyard every morning and it was quiet and calm and always delicious, we usually had lunch at the Caracol, but changed it up to the Miramar some days for different lunch options. We tried all a la cartes except Kyoto. We like sushi, but heard it was only sushi, no other options so we chose the other restaurants instead. What was incredible was the Thanksgiving dinner they had at the Miramar, and the Sunset Grill at the Miramar! WOW! The Dress code for men, you have to wear long pants to sit INSIDE at the Italian, and the Japanese, but you can sit outside in shorts at the Italian. You can wear shorts to the Mexican, Sunset Grill and Seafood. We enjoyed the many options on the menu, my husband loved the steaks at the Seafood, rib eye, New York or Filet, all tender! We never went to the Buffet at night, but heard they had many wonderful options. Our room and view (1016) quiet, spectacular view, always clean, and the room and mini bar were done before noon each day. The AC worked perfectly, and between that and the sound of crashing waves, we slept so well each night! The pools were lovely and clean, the ocean, not easy to swim in, strong, powerful waves, black flag every day, so long beach walks for us and more pool time. The hotel is close to lots of shopping and restaurants. We did the bike tour, which is free, with Herdando. He was a great guide, taking us to the Marina, then through the jungle path, then to Playa Linda and back,. It was from 8:15-10:15 AM approximately, great workout! Highly recommend! We would definitely return to the Barcelo Ixtapa, so impressed by the area of Ixtapa and Zihautanejo too. The bike paths they have are gorgeous! The only thing we would recommend is more shade at the beach (over loungers) and at the pool. We were up every morning by 6 AM to reserve a spot that would offer shade all day. We noticed that this hotel is fantastic for people with mobility issues, everything is close, all the restaurants, the pools, everything, and ramps everywhere and gorgeous glass elevators. It is so easy to get around here! Again, thank you Barcelo Ixtapa for making our vacation so memorable and absolutely fabulous from the start to finish. We will return and we miss all the lovely staff we met. You made us feel so welcome.

Wonderful staff!
Had a great 10 day stay. Fabulous view from our room on the 11th floor. Although the rooms need a bit of an update, bed was very comfortable, and had everything you need. Housekeeping did a fabulous job and we returned to a very clean and tidy room every day. We were in premium and enjoyed the lounge very much. Excellent and friendly service morning and night. We never ate at the buffet but found the a la carte restaurants to be better than most all inclusive resorts we’ve stayed at. The employees at the Barceló work very hard and your work and friendly attitude are much appreciated. Special shout out to Grecia and the rest of the front desk crew for excellent and friendly service looking after every request/question we had. Alejandro for your smile and conversation by the pool every morning. Paloma at the restaurants, so lovely. Luis at the lunch restaurant by the pool, great welcoming smile and service. We hope to return next year to see our new friends again.

Ixtapa Vacation
Staff and service was great, good food but could have used more salad choices. Japanese restaurant didn’t allow choice of many different rolls etc. Other restaurants were good especially the Seafood and Steak restaurant. Wedding events music at the hotel were loud and repetitive even when in our rooms and ran until 11:00 pm. That was our biggest complaint but Overall we had a very good vacation.
