We had a wonderful stay at the Barcelo Ixtapa in Jan 9-23, 2025 Our room was nice and comfortable , always cleaned and fancy little things made w Kleenex . Lovely touch ! Food is good . Would like to see more sliced cheese and some sliced mango but what was there is good The hot chocolate at breakfast is so good! Really like the pools and beach as well . Would like more English speaking in the entertainment. Day as well as night ! The lounge has nice music at night and a lovely place to have sore dinner drink except for the smoke that floats in from the smokers on the terrace , The doors should be closed for that period of time as both areas can be full . Overall we had a great stay and will return in 2026

Great time in the sun.
We had a great time at the Barcelo. Only downside was the inconsistency with meals at the restaurants. One night the calamari was great the next it was like rubber. Some waiters were strict on the number of meals allows to be ordered where others were OK with cold and hot appetizer being ordered. Overall it was a great holiday.

Everything was very good from checking in to checking out. This is rated a 4 star and it is for the most part but I have to give the Location and the Staff a 7 star. The New Years Eve party was Amazing…the food (lobster,steak,roast pig, ect), the entertainment, the Staff once again, the fireworks, ect. This was a Party until 3am. The gym was adequate and clean. The ala cartes were nice. Some little improvements we would like to see would be a fresh coffee bar little area open 5am-10pm possibly. We did have coffee in our room and there was a coffee machine with fresh beans but it wasn’t always working. Rooms needed a little TLC but nothing too serious. The toaster in the Mirmar was on hit and miss if it would be working. Let’s get a couple spare toasters not a big expense. Bacon showed up the last week we were here which nice. Overall this was a very enjoyable 3 week stay But the smokers showed up in the 3rd week which sucked. They smoked outside but the smoke would fill up the lobby bar and buffet not nice at all. With a resort full of 800 plus people and only 20-30 smoking just doesn’t make sense. Have a little smoking room for them.

Before 7:30 AM from our balcony when I looked out, I could not see an available chair and I believe most of them were gone on the beach. At 9 AM 95% them did not have anyone in them. In Jamaica Luxury Runaway Bay. All towels were removed from the chairs before 9 AM unless you were there. Guess what. They're always seem to be seating for everyone in the were no issues. People didn't leave towels and go on excursions or the buddy that comes down and throws 20 towels out for his friends was not an issue. Otherwise this place is good great location, good food and nice service. Good rooms. If you don't mind laying on the sand in your own towel or staying in the pool with no place to sit or eat.

Best Ixtapa experience. It was my birthday and cake and champagne was sthe room, signing waiters at dinner.
Very good experience from the first person I met at the reception desk: Erika. I explained what kind of room I wanted which was different from the one that was selected for us, and no problem the room was changed. She was very pleasant, spoke English and smiled all the while. Next was Paulina, concierge whom I met there on a previous trip. See too was very accommodating and set us up with dining options other than the buffet. Then Karen our housekeeper who kept making towel characters daily, room always tidy and stocked.
