Feb 09, 2026Too expensive for what is offered at this resort
We were very disappointed in this resort. The rooms were clean, but had to ask for face cloths every day, and got them twice. It is an older resort and needs major upgrade. The selection of food was not good at the buffets, except for breakfast. It was cold or luke warm on rhe trays and most of it was tasteless. We're there for 10 days and was only allowed 3 A la carts. The entertainment was all in Spanish. Did not incorporate any English anytime so we could understand what was being said. The pools were great and the services at the pool bars were fantastic, no complaints there. This is not a 4.5 rated resort.

Our fourth trip there in the past 4 years, Did the Premium Level which we like and use. The food was good and the service area was kept clean all of of the time. The staff(all of them) were great.

Beautiful Resort & Restaurants
Such a beautiful resort! We especially loved the Caracol restaurant - delicious food and great service by Karla and Alfonso 😊

Feb 08, 2026Nice location, but noisy rooms and no space at the pool
Staff are great, as are the location and beach. Food was decent but not spectacular. Hotel is on the older side and rooms are noisy - you can hear your neighbor's every word which is hard if you have night owls on either side. Wifi is terrible and unreliable. Biggest problem is lack of pool/beach chairs which people reserve with towels and books OVERNIGHT. If you don't go out by 7am you literally won't find a spot, while all chairs sit empty and covered with towels.

3 weeks at Barcelo
We are on day 1 of a 3 week all inclusive holiday at Barcelo, this is our fifth time to Ixtapa, third time at Barcelo, we are not sure what happened but the room we were given was not the room we were expecting. After 24 hours and a bit of confusion the Front desk manager Erika Lopez Vargas handled all of our concerns with the utmost professionalism. A special shout out to Juan Jose our resident west jet representative for helping out as well. We are 2 returning couples who love this place and everyone associated with it. All involved have turned a stressful situation into the beginning of a great holiday. Thanks!
