Golf vacation, 5th visit
Very good value overall in the quality of accommodation and food. Golf course staff in particular were friendly, provided excellent service. In general, English was an issue for some staff. Suggestions for improvement: - need more towels, particularly because the water is not contained when showering. - changing rooms was problematic. Could wait 24 hours. - Although we didn't notice until near the end of the stay, our phone wasn't working because the line had been cut. - opportunity for clients departing very early to the airport to order coffee and small packaged snack would be wonderful.

Wonderful Stay at Barcelo Resort
My trip to Barcelo Bavaro Beach Resort was absolutely incredible! The pools were spotless, refreshing, and there were plenty of lounge chairs for everyone in my party. The spa was exceptional, I had one of the best massages of my life, and afterward, I enjoyed the outdoor spa pool and the hydrotherapy area inside, including the sauna, which was so relaxing after a long day. The dining options throughout the resort were impressive, with delicious choices available all day. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate my food allergies and were always attentive, kind, and ready to answer any questions. Every aspect of the resort, from the pools and spa to the food and service was thoughtfully managed to create a seamless, relaxing, and memorable experience. I would highly recommend Barcelo Resort to anyone looking for a luxurious, all-inclusive getaway with excellent amenities and truly caring staff. I can’t wait to come back! First All-Inclusive Stay
Overall, we had a good time at Barcelo Bavaro Beach. Golfing was fun, but we were sad that the beverage cart did not drive the course, it was only located near hole 9 or 10. The pool was clear and a good temperature to cool down from the sun. Beaches were cleared of seaweed at least once or twice a day. The buffet food was very mediocre. There were only a couple things of the dozens of choices at each buffet that were good. I felt like I was wasting so much food because I would try something and it not be good, which was the case for our entire group of 8 adults. The a la carte restaurants had better food, but were fully booked for half of our stay so we could not utilize each of the five nights. The rooms were fairly nice, but a little dated. The shower head in our room, building 6 had a little bit of mildew on it and the faucets were a little hard/sticky to use the handle. For the price we paid, it was a good deal, but next time we may opt to pay a little more to stay somewhere nicer. There was also one night we could hear the person above us walking heavy around their room, causing us to wake up every now and again for a couple of hours. The drinks most bartenders pour are very generous/strong.

We enjoyed our vacation, but would not stay here again.
First some good stuff. We were lucky enough to get a room facing the beach. The view was fantastic, we enjoyed reading and sitting on our porch more than the pool or beach. In the room the air conditioning worked well and the bed was more comfortable then our’s at home. The large TV had several US stations in English so we could follow the news, etc. We liked to walk on the beach every day and the beach is endless, and the weather was great. The Trolly was a nice feature, but mostly we walked everywhere. The food, even at the buffets, was good - and far better than the previous resort where we stayed. All restaurants, except the Steakhouse, were excellent - hard to decide which was best. We enjoyed the Hole19 for lunch 2 times. The staff there was slow, inexperienced and did not speak English - but the food, drinks, and view were very good. We had a rough start to the vacation. We had to wait for a private transport from the airport and he did not understand English. He also seemed to get lost going to the resort. At the resort the first night, the staff in the Premium check in area barely spoke English. They checked us in OK, but they had difficulty understanding our questions and resolving our room problems. The next day there were 2 people who spoke English, and we used them the rest of the week. The facilities are aging, and look it. When we got to our room neither the phone, the safe, nor the clock worked at all ! I returned to the Premium check in area and made it clear I would not stay in the room without a working phone (in case of an emergency). They replaced the phone, and 2 days later replaced the safe. They never replaced the clock. On day 2, the TV controller failed to work - it was fixed in 2 hours. Also, there were at least 6 power failures in the first 2 days (only 1 over 10 minutes). However, when the power fails in the room - not only the electricity goes out but the water system also stops functioning. When the water system resumes we got brown water for a while. Needless to say we used bottled water after that experience. When the power fails in the buffet, the lights go out and all the drink dispenser machines, omelet cooking station, etc., all shut down until the power resumes. There are very few electric outlets in the room, and 2 did not work. We rotated things that needed charging. There are no shower stalls at Bavaro Beach, only old bathtubs, now converted with showers. They are difficult to get in and tout, and are slippery.
