    Shout out!

I have been to this resort more time then I can count. The resort is beautiful and has everything you could want. My husband and I keep coming back mostly because of the staff. I don't normally single out any staff in particular but I felt I must in this case. Santa and Santiago who for many years made the crepes and omelets in the SianKaan buffet. They always treated guests like family and made there food look like works of art. This trip I spoke with them and they now work inside, they would love to be back at the omelets station and I hope they will be on our next trip.

Bahia Principe Sian Ka'an is in a jungle like setting off the beach

The Bahia Sian Ka'an is NOT on the beach, but has trolleys to go there. It has 4 pools that offer tranquility or action, as one desires. The entertainment staff tries hard to get people engaged. The grounds are lovely, lots of foliage and therefore the villas don't have a view other than to the gardens and don't get much sunlight. Did not bother us because we spent not a lot of time at the room. The rooms are spacious, somewhat dated, but functional. We would like more drawer and shelf space, which was very minimal. Hopefully that will be rectified in the near future. Currently railings in the stairwells are installed, which is needed. The bathroom, while small, is adequate and our shower worked well. Maid service is great, always a clean room and fresh towels. The towels could be more fluffy, but that might change as renovations are always ongoing. The buffet at the Sian Kaan is the best from all the Bahia's (Akumal, Coba, Tulum and the new Tequila), but all offer a great variety of food and people who say they can't find anything, I don't know why. My favorite meal was the breakfast with a huge variety of egg dishes, salmon, prosciutto, crepes and more. There is also room service if you prefer. Or you can go to the Cenote Snack bar; their food is excellent as well and fresh eggs Benedict for breakfast or French toast with berries is very good. We went to a lot of the specialty restaurants. Alux, in Sian Kaan was disappointing this time because the noise level is way over comfort level. The Maiko Japanese restaurant is very good and the wait staff, like in ALL restaurants is outstanding. We had dinner at Katok in Akumal, which was excellent, same goes for KuUK in Akumal, Portofino in Coba, the new The Smoked Restaurant in Coba which has barbecue dishes. The sauce was a bit too sweet for us, but a dessert with peanut butter was the best we ever had. Don Pablo in Tulum this time was very nice, low noise level and excellent food and service. Gran Tortuga in Tulum was also good, but since we have been there many times, not a novelty anymore. For first timers, the waiters come around and offer different types of meat; there is also a food/salad/dessert bar. The grilled pineapple is my favorite. Tequila is a new section in Coba, for Adults only, with its own pool and the Cozumel Restaurant. We had lunch there and the former restaurant was transformed into a splendid new venue for adults. I have to compliment the staff, housekeeping, wait staff, pool staff, bar staff, everybody is super nice and accommodating. Maintenance is prompt when called for an issue. The staff really makes that resort a destination to return over and over. We are Privilege Club members and our concierges Ana and Liz were doing a wonderful job. The Members Only trolleys were always on time and would take us anywhere, but even the normal trolleys were great and wait time minimal. Of course no resort is absolutely without problems, and the Bahia has deficiencies as well. If you run into a problem during your stay, don't hesitate and contact guest services to get issues resolved instead of complaining when back home.

I wouldn’t if you are younger and looking for youthful energy. It wasn’t for us for sure.

We couldn’t get a room number until we checked in so the app was useless until then so by the time we tried to get reservations for the restaurants they were full. Buffet was not very appealing especially for picky eaters. Spent a lot of time riding the golf trams to get anywhere. Alcohol choices were limited, not even Titos. We were told about a party at Tequila that we could BUY tickets to and when we get there we would get free water, soda, and beer. So we would have to BUY any liquor drinks. Very not all inclusive. Average age was 60+ so not really a fun resort for younger people in our opinion. We stayed one and a half days and since we didn’t want it to ruin our vacation we booked at a different resort so we paid for 2. Tried getting some money back for the unused nights but the hotel would not refund any. Still don’t regret changing resorts.

    Excellent resort for golfers

Our group of 10 golfers went to Sian Kaan and it’s a great resort if you want to play golf everyday. The awesome golf course is right at the resort within 5 min. walk and no need to wait for a shuttle to take you there and back. The app to book Ala carte restaurants is useless if making reservations for more than 2 people. Better to book when you get there. Camila, Erandi and Daniel were excellent in helping us get reservations. Camila went out of her way to make sure our needs were met. My room in Bldg 31 was good but the water in the shower was iffy. Some days it was cold and no hot water came out. Other days it was fine. The room was clean but damp. It showed signs of age but I was hardly there. The food at the buffet was good. Lots of selection. Oatmeal for breakfast was not creamy and it was watery. The soups for lunch and dinner were so-so. However, lots of variety to choose from from main dishes to salads and desserts. The Alux was our best meal. The seafood and smoked restaurants were not that good. I liked the hindu thali food. Customer service was excellent and they did everything to make our experience enjoyable.
