10 Days at Ambar
Luxury Ambar My wife and I just enjoyed our second 10-day stay at this resort. Our third-floor room was well located, one building from the pool and beach and two buildings from the lobby and main buffet restaurant. Staff were pleasant and helpful. The food at the buffet was varied and very good. Our only complaint was with the buffet dinning room. On several occasions the air conditioning was working overtime and the temperature was unpleasantly cold. Apparently they were having some issues with the system which they were working to fix. Limbo This was by far our favorite restaurant. We ate here twice. Although there was not a huge selection in the menu, everything we had was excellent. Service was very good, staff were pleasant and the atmosphere was very nice. Would highly recommend. Thali We had the à la carte menu rather than the tasting menu. Starters were good but the main courses we had were not as flavorful as we would have expected Indian cuisine to be. El Olivo Our dinner here was pretty good. Service was pleasant, but the lighting could have been toned down a bit for a nicer ambiance. MEAT Steakhouse Our dinner here was pretty good. Our starters were very good. For our mains, I had the steak which was not as tender as I would have liked and my wife had the salmon which was nicely done. Side vegetables were only warm which was disappointing. Service was pleasant and atmosphere was nice. . Nicole

Second visit sadly hotel deteriorated
This our second visit to the Ambar, it isn't cheap and last year it was fantastic, sadly in a year it has gone down hill Pros Nice rooms Fab beach One or two good Al a carte restaurants Excellent personal trolley service Nice spa however it is expensive Entertainment better than last year Las Brisas service at lunch was excellent, Adrienne and Maura looked after us every lunchtime Cons Food at buffet especially dinner, foodwas cold Service at main buffet very hit and miss. Some days no coffee delivered other days juice was forgotten. Definitely a language barrier Lobby bar at 7:30pm no wine glasses given in a whisky glass Plastic sundae glasses used two evenings. Not expected in a 5 star hotel All colour wristbands used Ambar exclusive beach and not only not policed sunbed man found them sunbeds!! Feeding cats throughout resorts and some people feeding them from tables at Las Brisas Sadly for the price cons outweigh the pros and we won't be returning. Had I been able to give a half a star I may have pushed it to 3 1/2

Very clean but could use some improvement in food and liquor
The hotel itself is very clean and well maintained. Public areas, rooms, and grounds were consistently spotless, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, the overall experience was brought down significantly by the food and beverage quality. The food across the board was mediocre at best, regardless of venue. While there was variety, execution and flavor were lacking, and nothing stood out as memorable. The liquor was clearly watered down, and selection was limited. Surprisingly, diet soda was not available anywhere on the property, which felt like a basic oversight for an adults-only resort. Service was inconsistent. At the pool bar, service was quick and efficient, but breakfast service was the opposite. Each morning we waited around 10 minutes just to get a cup of coffee, which was frustrating and unnecessary. Overall, while the cleanliness of the resort is a strong point, the food quality, beverage program, and uneven service would make it hard for us to recommend this property or return.

Bed Bug Incident and Negligent Response
Our stay at Bahia Principe Ambar, Punta Cana resulted in a serious health and safety issue that the resort failed to handle responsibly or professionally. After two nights in our room, both my wife and I developed multiple bite clusters in linear patterns, consistent with bed bug bites. We then found a bug in the bed and when it was crushed, it produced blood, strongly indicating a bed bug. We documented this with photographs. We immediately reported this to hotel management. Their staff inspected the room but dismissed the physical evidence we provided. Later, we were told that a third-party company inspected the room and “found nothing,” despite the clear symptoms and proof. In addition, the third party fumigated our room with our stuff in it. We were moved to another room, but were required to transport all of our luggage ourselves, creating a significant risk of contamination and spread. No proper containment, treatment, or guest safety protocol was followed. When asked if we could have our clothes laundered, the request was denied. The only compensation offered was a “romantic dinner,” which is completely inappropriate given the seriousness of a bed bug exposure, the health impact, and the financial risk associated with potential infestation at home. This incident caused: Physical discomfort and injury Significant emotional distress Ongoing concern and expense related to decontamination and preventing home infestation Most concerning is the resort’s failure to acknowledge responsibility or follow proper safety and sanitation procedures. This is not merely an inconvenience — it is a public health and consumer safety issue. Guests should be aware of the risk and inspect rooms carefully before settling in. We are pursuing this matter further through formal channels.

Great holiday
We had a fabulous stay , great value for money The food was mostly outstanding , and we were able to book a different restaurant every night ! The entertainment was the best ! You literally had so much to do and the entertainment team were brilliant, bringing so much energy and positivity. That’s a huge plus to this resort ! The pool area is quite a party area lots of music and fun !! Lots of people enjoying themselves. The team serving around the pool were mostly helpful My only negative . it was a struggle to get a Diet Coke , zero sugar mixer - lots of negative conversations around that ! But all in all once it did not effect my stay My room was clean and cool and was serviced twice a day on my request Great holiday
