Heaven
We travelled to Bouganville April 1-8/26 for our 4th vacation there. We had an AirCanada vacation for the first in a long time. Terminal one in Toronto is very nice and easy to get through. We were on a Dreamliner. Impressive. Arrived at hotel. I had done check in on line so very fast. Love the new room key in your bracelet, so awesome, never wondering where your key is. Terrific upgrade. Awesome rooms in building 54, no bad rooms really. Went to lobby bar and were so impressed Isabel, Rosa, Patricia and Mayelin all gave us hugs and thanked us for returning. So wonderful. The mudslides are still just as awesome. Booked our alacartes through the app before we arrived. Maria in the Asian, Omar in the Brazilian both greeted us with hugs. Wendy in the beach restaurant, Glenys in breakfast buffet, Pedro the coffee coffee coffee guy at breakfast all make our holiday memorable. Being greeted at the breakfast buffet by Maria and Sulyeni every morning starts your day off on a pleasant note. Mariel on the front desk always had pesos for me. We had a terrific vacation and hope we can return next year. I hope new ownership doesn’t change anything.

Wonderful 5 Day Stay
A wonderful 5-day stay! We flew from JFK to Santo Domingo (SDQ), and the airport was a pleasant surprise—large, well-organized, and air-conditioned, a far cry from Punta Cana. We arranged transportation through the hotel, and our driver was waiting upon arrival. The entire process was seamless, and the drive to the resort took about 50 minutes. Bahia Principe Bouganville is an adults-only property, just a short walk from the larger Bahia La Romana, which is more family-oriented and was very busy during our stay the week of April 6. Guests at Bouganville can access the facilities at La Romana if desired, but we appreciated returning to the more relaxed atmosphere at Bouganville. The resort itself is peaceful and inviting, with lush, beautifully maintained grounds. The staff overall are very friendly and engaging. Dining options are plentiful, and we found the food to be excellent. I would have happily eaten at the buffet every evening, though we also enjoyed dining at the à la carte restaurants. As others have noted, early reservations can be hard to come by if you wait until arrival, but we were able to book Don Pablo and Takara—both were outstanding. There are two pools: a quiet pool for total relaxation, and a livelier pool near the beach with music, activities, and a busy swim-up bar. We never had trouble finding lounge chairs at either the pool or the beach. The beach itself is tranquil, though the water isn’t the typical turquoise of the Atlantic. It was dark and a bit chilly—slightly disappointing, but not a deal breaker. Our room and bathroom were spacious, if a bit dated, but very clean and comfortable. The beds are quite firm (which we liked), the air conditioning worked perfectly, and the fridge was restocked daily. It was also exceptionally quiet. One thing to note: the buildings are three stories with no elevators. We didn’t mind being on the top floor, but others did—something to be aware of when booking. Overall, it was a fantastic vacation. The sun is quite intense, so five days felt like the perfect amount of time to relax and unwind. We would absolutely recommend Bahia Principe Bouganville.

Honest review about BPEB
Very overpriced place, not worth it all. Beach, dark brow water with jelly fish, no practical swimming. Swimming pool with murky water, disgusting. Food: nothing Va to die for. Restaurants: Japanese restaurant is their best they were excellent! Other restaurants are not

Great, but Question if We’d Return
My husband and I spent April 1st to the 8th, 2026 at the Bahia Luxury Escape Bouganville. We booked a pool view room and stayed in 57220. I will first list what we loved, followed by what was okay, and finally the reason why we probably wouldn’t return. What we LOVED: The resort grounds are spectacular. There are the most beautiful palm trees and vegetation of all kinds. The resort is extremely clean. The maids and cleaning crew merit a special acknowledgement from management. The beach is wide, loungers are spread out, and there is more than enough shade. The beach is great for walking with hard packed sand along the shore. Along your stroll you will encounter crabs, see a good variety of birds, especially close to the beach club, and you will find lots of seashells. The lobby was very nice, had comfortable furnishings, and was open air which is so enjoyable. Plenty of towels, hot water and complete refills of the fridge every day. Turndown service as well. 3 pools, something for everyone- quiet pool, music and games pool and jacuzzi pool. Bloody Caesar’s at all the bars. What was just Fine: The service was okay, not always with a smile. The breakfast crew were very attentive and had huge smiles except for some of the hostesses. The beach bar staff did their job and that’s about it. The a la carte staff were very good. The food was fine, but nothing wowed us except for the chicken cordon bleu at the Italian restaurant and some of the deserts at the a la cartes. The lunch buffet by the pool served the exact same thing every day. There really wasn’t much entertainment at night, which was fine with us. There was a beach party one night, but the music was horrible. It wasn’t suited for the age group that was there. Many people were disappointed. Even 50-70 year-olds want to dance, but not to the music that was played by the DJ. The average age must have been 55+ which was fine with us but not if you are looking for a young crowd with a party vibe. We loved that it was quiet and very relaxing. There are tons of sand wasps on the beach but they don’t bother you at all. By late afternoon, they are gone. Why we probably wouldn’t return: We really loved this place but missed the clear, blue ocean water of Bavaro, Negril, Maroma and Cuba. The water reminded us of lake water. It was very murky and brown. From a distance, there was a bluish hew, but it just wasn’t nice. There were also jellyfish. We saw 2 people get stung during the week. Furthermore, there is seagrass along the bottom of the water. I would recommend this place to older couples or people who are searching for a serene, peaceful vacation at a beautiful and very clean resort. There is no party vibe, especially at night, no drunken parties, no Bluetooth speakers which is exactly what many people want.
