Amazing week at Aquamarine
We just returned from a week at Aquamarine. This was our second trip, as part of a group of six. We were happy to see that Isaac was still part of the entertainment crew. He has a wonderful way of making everyone feel special. We added some new favourites, Lisianna at the pool, gave us fantastic service. She is so cheerful and hard working. I was very impressed. All the staff are friendly and welcoming. I love it when the Domincans say "welcome home" to us Punta Canadians. A few other highlights were Vianellis (I hope I spelled that right) from the entertainment staff, Ingris from Flamboyan, and German from the buffet. Thank you all for a wonderful week.

Not worth the money
I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience needs to be shared. We stayed at Aquamarine Resort expecting a high-end, well-maintained property, but what we got was far from it. We specifically booked a room with two beds, assuming—based on how the resort presents itself—that we’d be placed in one of the renovated villas. Instead, we were assigned to Villa 71/72, which are clearly outdated and not up to the standard you’d expect for the price. It honestly felt misleading. If some villas are not renovated, that should be clearly disclosed before booking—not something guests find out after they arrive. To make matters worse, when we raised the issue, the customer service was extremely disappointing. The representative we spoke with was rude and dismissive, which only added to the frustration. For a resort that markets itself as luxury, this experience felt like a bait-and-switch. I would strongly recommend that future guests double-check exactly what room they are getting—and that management seriously addresses both the condition of these villas and the way guests are treated. Very disappointing overall.

My bad experience at Bahia Principe Aquamarine Punta Cana
The Bahia Principe Aquamarine Punta Cana present a beautiful exterior and stands out for its overall cleanliness. The grounds are well-maintained at all times, and the outdoor facilities are pleasant, especially the pool and the beach, both of which are very attractive and inviting. However, several aspects significantly detracted from the overall experience. Upon arrival, the check-in process was extremely long. We were even asked for a $20 tip to get our room immediately; it was 2:30 PM, and check-in was at 3:00 PM. We refused, which was a rather disappointing first impression. The room had several shortcomings: no bedspread (only a sheet and a stained foot warmer), no washcloth, and a sofa with stained cushions. The number of electrical outlets was insufficient for charging electronic devices. On the balcony, the paint on the chairs is peeling, giving an impression of neglect. Furthermore, essential items are frequently missing from the room, such as washcloths, soap in the shower, or even Coffee Mate. The minibar is very poorly stocked with alcohol, containing only beer. Moreover, we constantly had to request that it be refilled. No snacks are offered, and only large bottles of water are provided, which is inconvenient. The lobby staff is unhelpful and rarely smiles. You often feel like you're bothering them, and basic greetings, like a hello or a smile, are rare. Making reservations at the a la carte restaurants is also problematic. The reservation website is unreliable, and it's often impossible to book or modify a reservation despite available tables. The staff on-site seem unwilling to help. Some restaurants, like Mashua and Rodizio, are disappointing: dry, tasteless food with bits of fat on the plate instead of meat. The dishes are lukewarm at best, and the service is unfriendly. The house wine is tasteless; it seemed diluted. As for the main buffet, it's large but offers nothing exceptional. The food is very ordinary, often lukewarm, and the accompanying sauces are never labeled. Canned fruit is available, but very little fresh fruit. The croissants and muffins, wrapped in damp plastic, give off a strong fishy odor, which is particularly unpleasant. The only positive point: the staff at the buffet reception are friendly. The resort doesn't offer enough umbrellas at the pool and beach. You have to get up very early to ensure you get chairs in the shade. In short, despite a beautiful and well-maintained resort, several shortcomings in service, room maintenance, and food quality detract from the experience. The Aquamarine is not a five-star resort and should not be marketed as such. Thank you.

Great experience!
We can't complain, our experience was amazing. Everyone at the resort was kind and helpful. We were there for our anniversary, and the staff ensured we had a great time, which we did. The resort is clean and well-maintained, and the food and activities were also excellent. Our room was impeccable. The location was great and had a stunning beach. I loved the fact that they had the "SHHH" signs, because people were respectful and there was zero noise outside our room.

Sunny, mid resort
“Can we sit here?” “Not unless you pay extra” “Can we get this?” “If you want to pay an absurd mark up” “Can we eat dinner at one of your à la carte restaurants that serves microwaved food and watered down wines?” “Absolutely” Staff was really nice. You’re not really getting access to a “resort,” but if you want to eat lots of buffet food and drink cheap liquor by a slightly scummy pool: go for it!
