The Ayres Hotel could be a great 4 star experience, but there are a few things holding it back. First of all the pool and jacuzzi in the courtyard are far from a sanctuary. They are so tiny and shaded that literally no one ever used them despite the near 80 degree sunny weather. Secondly, there is almost no breakfast to speak of. While the other Ayres Hotels have free full buffet breakfasts, this one only has an extremely light continental breakfast with no hot dishes. The hotel does not serve lunch and one of the evenings I was going to have dinner there, they were closed for a private event. Finally, the service is subpar. They list a concierge service but when asked, the front desk personnel are not knowledgeable or helpful. Even the shuttle is hit and miss. I was just told that I could not be picked up if there wasn’t anyone else to pick up even though I was the only one picked up yesterday.

This hotel is in a great location in terms of the beaches and LAX airport. Never heard a plane and hotel was quiet. Restaurant under renovation, so only a very basic breakfast available in the lobby. For a hotel with such lovely European inspired decor, it seemed incongruous to have paper cups for the coffee, plastic "glasses" for the water and no tea available. One small issue was the fitted sheet not quite fitting the bed so the staff had left it undone. They offer a shuttle to Manhattan Beach (not the airport). Probably a good idea, as we could not find any parking at the beach due to a volley ball event on Sunday.

Awesome hotel! We couldn't understand where we came to when we saw this first time. The room had all the amenities we could possibly need, laundry on the same floor and also a modest breakfast. Warm pool and a gym. The only cons was the water pressure, it was hard to wash the hair.

A wonderful peaceful night amidst the firework festivities
After arriving at LAX from a long-haul international flight, my family needed a quiet place to rest and recover from jet lag. I had noted this in our reservation, and the front desk staff was attentive to my notes upon our arrival. The front desk agent kindly explained that while only two-queen rooms were available facing the exterior of the building, she could offer us a king bed with a sofa bed facing the interior courtyard—an ideal option given it was the 4th of July and I knew firework festivities would be going off well into the night. We truly appreciated her thoughtfulness and the effort to accommodate our needs. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. We especially appreciated the in room mini-fridge and microwave, which came in handy for heating up food during late-night battles with hunger while adjusting to the time difference. Although I didn’t use them, the hotel offers self-serve washers and dryers on-site. Parking is free, plentiful, and located in what felt like a very safe area—there’s even a Porsche dealership right across the street. There are several convenient food options within walking distance, including McDonald’s, Carl’s Jr., and Blaze Pizza, plus a Costco and an LA Fire Department station just a few minutes away. I would definitely stay here again, especially when arriving from an international trip.

Horrible!!!! Very sketchy! The area around the hotel is run down with businesses out of business. Sketchy people coming & going out of hotel. Hotel pictures online don’t match up with hotel in person. It reminds me of a motel 6 not a 4 star! Don’t stay here!
