PERFECT location! All units are directly on the ocean, so you can see the wildlife (whales, turtles, monk seals) from your balcony. Walking distance to the market, food trucks, and all the Kaanapali resorts (5 minute walk to Dukes). Jacuzzi was always warm, pool area well-maintained. Free laundry, housekeeping supplies.

Cockroach and Karen
We checked out early from our stay and are now headed to Sheraton. Though condo option is good, this hotel has an active COCKROACH problem. We booked an 1bd premium ocean front condo through Costco. The first room 907 in Molokai tower had an active pest problem and with a young kid became a health hazard for us. We reached out to Greg at front desk who initially mentioned due to the tropical location, insects are common. I am sorry but ants/bugs/bees are ok but cockroach is a pest. Greg from front desk moved us to the room 1214 at lanai tower which was actually renovated. We wonder if we were given an older room initially. However. The very first night at 1214 we saw a giant cockroach in the living room. Even with the cockroach situation, we thought we will just finish our stay and go home. We stopped by multiple times at the front desk to inquire extending a day since our flight was at night and my kid needed a place to nap in the afternoon. At no time the manager was available and no one else could help. Finally the nail in the coffin was the front desk staff ‘Karen’. We waited for 10mins, did not greet us and kept taking calls in front of us. Only when we started walking out, she asked our room number and said you sure you want to go? At that point. We decided Aston just does not care about the guests at all and it is better to move out and enjoy the remaining time we have. Karen actually is quite good at greeting and smiling at other guests but may be it was selective discrimination that she needs help with. If there is a course on treating everybody with respect and dignity she should take that for her hospitality career.

Highly Recommended Home-Away-from-Home
We loved that every room has a gorgeous ocean view, and the beach is literally steps from your front door. We also appreciated the relative calm and quiet of the Mahana, while still enjoying the close proximity to some of the larger resort hotels and their amenities. Great location with easy access to other West Maui beaches and Whalers Village. We were unexpectedly upgraded to a suite when we arrived, and enjoyed the cleanliness and spaciousness of our well-appointed apartment, as well as the extreme seashell decorations!

What you get is not what is advertised - disappointing and shady business practice
The "premium" rooms are not what is advertised on the website when you book. Despite the pictures of beautiful rooms you will see on the website, be prepared for the actual room you get to be dated, expect nasty old carpet, and expect dingy threadbare bedding.

Great Honeymoon Destination
The best expectation vs. reality experience I've ever had walking into a "hotel" room. the views are incredible, private balcony was so nice to have, and the pool area was quiet and peaceful all day long. The shopping center down the street had a grocery store so we took full advantage of the kitchen in the room which was well equipped for some basic cooking and serving. The staff were great, always smiling and offering assistance. No crowds, no traffic, no vending machine to stand in line for a pool or beach towel at, it was great.
