    Absolutely Memory Maker

My husband and I had the opportunity to stay at the Mahana in Condo #717. It is a privately owned rental unit. It was a very clean unit with a well stocked kitchen. The view is amazing. This is a one bedroom one bath unit, capable of Sleeping 4. We watched whales, turtles, dolphins, and surfers from the wall of windows in the condo! The bed was very comfortable! The unit also has a washer and dryer which can in very useful during our stay! The owners were very helpful and were only a phone call away if needed! We will certainly be back!

    Love the Aston Mahana

1st, Mahana is our favorite property, the view can't be beat. Amenities (washer/ dryer, full kitchen, keurig, dish washer) is so convenient. Great location. We watched whales from our balcony. Cooked breakfast several mornings, set off smoke detector, staff was at our door within a minute to check on us. Only issue was the Beds/pillows were hard. We bought pillows at Costco and left them in the room. Next time we may buy a bed topper. Our friends would have liked a tub in the bathroom. We've stayed at The Mahana at least 5 times, Maui with a room at the Mahana is my favorite place to be!

    Amazing family vacation

My family and I stayed here for 6 days and 5 nights. I have been to Maui a couple times before and I have to say this was the nicest place that we’ve stayed. We booked a premium ocean front room through Costco travel and originally we were put on the 1st floor. The view of the ocean was right there and the room was nice, but, we didn’t completely like the idea of being ground floor with people just outside our back patio area. I asked the front desk if they had anything else higher up, told them it wasn’t a huge deal but would be nice. Their system was down when I asked and they said they’d give me a call once they had access to look. Within 10 minutes or less, they called the room we were in and told me they could move us to the 10th floor. AMAZING room. We saw whales and turtles EVERY DAY. We also saw sting ray occasionally and even a pod of dolphins went by one morning. The staff was extremely professional, kind and accommodating. The room was very nice and taken care of. The hotel is also very close to a lot of good food and coffee choices as well as good beaches. When we visit again, this will be my first choice. Mahalo!!

    Excellent stay!

Great accommodations in a breathtaking location. The staff were friendly and helpful, rooms clean, overall really well run. Pool was heated and crystal clean, nice size hot tub. Easy access to super soft beach that you can walk all the way to South Kaanapali. The hotel provided over and above services when power was unexpectedly cut to all of West Maui for almost 24 hours.

Great staff and location; Awful accommodations (unit 1112 & 0512)

This is probably my 20-something visit to Maui and sadly this is probably the worst hotel I've stayed at. That said, I heard there are some good rooms: you just have to hope you don't get a condo that the owner has neglected. Unfortunately, we got to see the worst of the rooms (I hope). The positives: The staff and the location of this hotel are amazing, especially the front desk. Their smiles and positivity are contagious. The oceanfront location is also amazing! Every room has an ocean view! The negatives: The rooms While I heard that there are some good rooms at the hotel, you are lucky to get them apparently. The price of the hotel did NOT match the quality of the rooms. We were first provided with room 1112 which was horrendous: horribly dated, a broken down mattress, dull dangerous knives, gross old white carpet, weird artwork, a dated bathroom, old appliances and really nothing you could use to cook a full meal. It was almost comical. We stayed in there two nights as we didn't think we would be able to move rooms since our friends were told that the hotel was booked when they tried to book at the same time as us. (Plus we don't normally complain). However, when the front desk sent a text asking us how our stay was we had to say something. Second room was 0512. I was so overjoyed with this room that while the bed seemed to have broken springs, it was at least a king so I figured I could sleep in the middle. Unfortunately the middle was broken down too and after a night attempting to sleep and waking up wit a sore back we asked the front desk if we could get a new mattress. Sadly, we were informed that it is up to the owners to purchase new mattresses (and apparently the owner of 0512 considers a mattress which a bunch of broken springs acceptable). Housekeeping did flip the mattress though (thank you!) which helped though you could still feel the broken springs but it was so much better. Also it is up to the owners to provide Britta filters. (At least 1112 had one). We are used to drinking out of the tap at home and on Maui and yet the water in each unit was so bad. Even ice you would make with it had such a strong sewage-y like taste. Since the owner of 0512 decided not to provide the Britta filter, we made lots of routine runs to the filtered water downstairs and filled up water bottles and a pitcher.
