Misleading and Underwhelming
This resort falls far short of the 4- or 5-star rating it claims to have. We booked through Costco, which listed the Alohilani as a “5-star resort” with a user rating of 4.2 at the time. Unfortunately, our experience aligned with every negative review we later read. Be sure to carefully filter and read all reviews before booking. Here’s our breakdown: Positive * Staff: The staff are incredibly kind and helpful, and their professionalism stands out. * Valet & Check-In: The valet and check-in experience create the illusion of a luxury resort—unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. Negatives Hallways & Elevators: * Carpets and baseboards are visibly dirty and appear to have never been cleaned * Popcorn ceilings are outdated and unbefitting of a supposed 4/5-star property * Musty, dusty odors permeate the hallways—terrible for anyone with allergies Rooms * Smell: The mildew and mold odor hits immediately upon entering and doesn’t dissipate, even with AC or fresh air. * Cleanliness * Carpets in the room are just as dirty as the hallways. Bring slippers. * Shower and sink looked rinsed but not thoroughly cleaned or sanitized. * Baseboards are dirty. * Bathroom: The sink area is tiny—barely enough for one person * Pillows: You’re left with two poor options: rock-hard flat pillows or lumpy soft ones. Mixed Experiences * Water Temperature: The shower and sink water get dangerously hot—be careful. * View: A “partial ocean view” was as described, but noise from Waikīkī detracted from the experience. * Clean Towels: At least the towels were clean.Overall, the friendly staff and valet team cannot compensate for the poor room quality and lack of cleanliness. This resort is not worth its advertised rating. * Comfortable Bed * Pool: appeared clean, towels readily available. The crowd this place attracts though is definitely mixed.

Great stay in Waikiki
Wonderful service from the valet, very responsive and respectful, so with concierge and reception. Beds were comfy, bathroom essentials were plentiful for four people, with the exemption of coffee, although we went out daily. Enjoyed the poolside entertainment and food was delicious. I would definitely come back and recommend Alohilani.

Good with some problems
First the good - the location of the hotel is great, right across the street from the beach and walkable to anywhere in Waikiki. Our room was in the "beachside" building with partial views of the ocean from the balcony, on the 5th floor. (The 5th floor is also access to the pool/bar area, so if you want quiet, ask for a different floor as you will hear all the people passing by to get to the pool at night. This area of Waikiki is busy all day and night long, so a higher floor might be your jam.) The room was clean and spacious. The bathroom was fine - no tub, not the most luxurious bathroom, but it was clean and came with lotions and potions (but not the little extras like cutips and nail files that you get at some nice hotels) There is a good pizza restaurant and ramen place in the lobby, both reasonably priced, and you can take-out to your room. The not so good - while the rooftop pool is a nice touch, there are not nearly enough lounge chairs for their capacity. Not even close! So if you arrive any time after 9am, forget it. There are ten premium chairs in the shallow end of the pool, but you have to pay for them. Considering you are paying a $50 resort fee daily and there are not enough chairs, it was infuriating. The staff direct you to sit in the bar area when there are no more chairs, but this is a level down from the pool. There are some very tired sofas with sagging cushions in this area, and then lots of tables and chairs. It is not exactly the relaxing-by-the-pool day you might have envisioned for your hard-earned vacation. They don't have beach chairs for guests, so that's not an option either. The cabanas look amazing in the photos, but also come at a pretty cost. Also maddening is the advertising in numerous places of their happy hour from 3-5pm. But when you go, the staff simply say, "We don't have happy hour." The pool is not heated, in case you care. And there were lots of kids when we were there - screaming Marco Polo and jumping into the hot tub, which was so counter to the bar vibe the hotel had going. It would have been nice if the hotel staff whispered politely to the parents that their little ones were disturbing many of the guests. If you want an adult vacation, this may not be the hotel for you.

Great Location & Service. A little Overated but would stay again.
Reception Foyer and Overall Facilities are great. Staff were attentive. Rooms made daily. Location is awesome with the beach across the road. Uber pickup/drop off at the front is no problem. McDonald's across the road. There are many convenience stores along the main road strip called ABC stores. There is one located next to the hotel that can be accessed from inside the hotel foyer also. Very convenient. The complex has two towers, the front being the smaller one and the rear being the higher one. We stayed in the rear tower on level 20 in a partial ocean view 2queen bedder. Don't expect amazing views in these partial ocean views as you might be disappointed if your one that needs a full uninterrupted view of water. We had the partial view of the ocean and the view looking opposite Diamond Head. Looking at the other side from the Lift lobby, Id say we had a better view to the Diamond Head Crater as the other view had other apartment towers blocking the view. Beds are comfy, has a small bar fridge. Bathroom/Basin area is tiny but it is what it is. Water flow from the shower heads are slow but kind of acceptable. Toilet flushing is very effective and kinda noisy. We could here the toilets getting flushed above us! We didnt use the pool as opted for the beach instead. Pool cabanas need to be reserved and paid for with the base price $250US! No thanks. There are beach towels that are available in reception for free to use at the beach aswell as umbrellas but first in, best dressed. Not sure how good the restaurant was downstairs as we always ate elsewhere. Balcony space more than enough. Overall a very good resort and would prob stay there again if the price is right..

Always a great stay at Alohilani
Amazing staff with clean rooms and a very well kept property. Make sure you add the Longboard Club to your stay for a great breakfast and happy hour bites with beer and wine! Well worth it. They also have a beautiful gym for you to use and the pool is always happening
