  Pretty property but very poor service

  I recently stayed at this property and had a disappointing experience with the front desk staff, particularly regarding an upgrade that is advertised as a benefit for American Express Platinum Card members. At check-in, I inquired about a complimentary upgrade. I was told the hotel was completely booked and no upgrades were available. However, I had checked availability on the hotel’s website earlier that same morning and could clearly see rooms available in higher categories. When I mentioned this, the staff suddenly “found” an upgrade. Instead of handling this professionally, the front desk associate responded in a condescending tone, implying that I should be grateful for receiving the upgrade because they “normally charge” for it—despite this being a stated benefit of my membership. I was then told the upgraded room was still being cleaned and would be ready shortly, and that I would receive a call. After waiting until 6pm with no communication, I followed up myself, only to be told again—without apology or explanation—that the room was still not ready and no estimate could be provided. The combination of misleading information, lack of transparency, poor communication, and dismissive attitude made this experience particularly frustrating. While I understand that delays can happen, the absence of accountability or even a simple apology was disappointing. I expect a higher level of professionalism and honesty, especially when benefits are clearly outlined and when guests raise reasonable concerns. Service at the pool was also poor. We sat at the chairs and someone brought us a menu and never appeared again. I assumed we had to go up to the bar but we noticed there were servers walking around and delivering food and drinks, so my friend and I decided to wait and see how long it would take for someone to come check on us and no one ever did. At this point we realized we were better off spending our time off the resort. A couple of days later, we attempted to check out the pool again due to an cancelled tour and we waited 22 minutes (yes we counted!) until we had to physically flag down someone to get service. Mind you we saw servers attending to people around us during that time, also received a dirty cup of ice. Thankfully it was a short stay.

  Get A Way for a Week - We will be back.

  The Alaia Belize is a great one of a kind location on Ambergris Caye, Belize. From the moment we arrived to the time we departed, the staff was very attentive and super friendly. Eric is one of the Bellmen that took care of us during the week and made several great dining recommendations, all of which were right on point. The main pool area as well as the roof top pool and lounge have a great vibe day and night. I’ve give this location 8.5/10.0. The only downsides are no direct beach access and golf carts that have seen there better days.

  Can’t Wait to Come Back

  Just an overall great experience. The staff was AMAZING, especially Ken, Kdrian, Kaylinn, Henry, Moises, and Elvis. They all took great care of us and we can’t get wait to come back. One small part to point out: was that the walls were fairly thin; and we can hear a lot of noises while we were sleeping. Beyond that, everything was fantastic. Couldn’t recommend this place enough.

  My 5th stay with Alaia and it was...

  A 10/10!!! This was my fifth stay at Alaia and it never disappoints. I absolutely love this hotel and the entire team. The staff consistently goes above and beyond to make every visit special. What I appreciate most is how they treat me like family and remember me each and every time I return. Mr. Eric, one of their wonderful employees, always ensures that my family and friends are well taken care of during our stay. His attention to detail and genuine hospitality truly stand out, and his level of care and hospitality truly elevates the entire experience. Thank you again to the entire team. I'll see you all very soon!

  Alaia is SO worth a stay!

  What an experience! From the start, Alaia checked every box. The property is incredible… lots of places to sit around the 2 pools, and plenty of seating elsewhere. The rooftop was incredible, and a great way to watch a Belizean sunset or sunrise, with a 360 degree view. The food was VERY good… we had Seal Salt for breakfast, and it was a wide variety of really great foods. We did pizza at the beach as well, and it was INCREDIBLE. Now the best part… the staff was AMAZING. From the moment we checked in we were taken care of at every spot we went. Poolside service was always prompt and available, and the bars all had attentive staff as well. But a very special shoutout to Eric, the best part of this incredible place. He was ALWAYS smiling and SO very friendly. A Day Maker if ever there was one… THANK YOU Eric for making our stay better than it could have ever been, and thank you to Alaia… it was a once-in-a-lifetime trip for us!
