    The staff are a huge asset to this hotel

    I can’t rate this hotel highly enough. We arrived from Ireland and stayed 3 nights. Check in was fast and efficient. The rooms were spotless. Staff in both the bar and restaurant were excellent. They could not do enough for us. They were especially kind to our 3 boys. Every morning they gave the boys a treat after their breakfast. They made a great effort to chat away to us about where we were from and how our holiday was going every day. On the last day of our stay the chef made more donuts for our boys as there were not any left at the buffet. They really went out of their way throughout all of our holiday. In general we enjoyed our stay in Manchester and our trip to the etihad stadium. The hotel definitely stands out as one of the highlights of our visit. We will definitely visit again.

    Birthday stay over

    Stayed here with my wife for her birthday 18th jan. check in was quick and the receptionist was very nice, our room was on the 8th floor and had a nice view of the city . Overall the room was lovely, bathroom was a bit on the small side, tv worked ok . The only downside to our stay was the mattress was quite hard and we didn’t get a good nights sleep which we told reception about the morning after. Breakfast was really good, with a choice of cooked items, cereal, and pastries, also fruit and yogurt, tea and coffee. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would stay here again, only thing that let it down was the mattress.

    One night stay with the my son.

    Stayed one night. Staff were friendly and hotel was clean enough.Rooms are small but adequate. TVs don’t work. After checking in we went to the room and tried to turn on the tv but it didn’t work. I reported this and they move us to a different room. TV didn’t work here either. Maintenance came to the room but couldn’t help. So no TV for our stay. Not ideal when travelling with a child. They apologised on checking out but blamed the service provider but made no reduction to the rate. Breakfast basic but iis an additional charge .

    Smashed phone, broken tv and unhelpful staff. Don’t get me started on the lifeless bed!

    The most unhelp staff in hotel history Firstly would I stay here again? Absolutely not. We had a number of small issues with our stay and if they had been rectified while we were there I would have had a more neutral review. Our smart tv dosnt work, it turns on and off so we are unable to use it, equally it’s not ideal turning on at random moments. We notified staff that our tv did not work at 3:45pm shortly after check in along with the issue that the phone in our room had been smashed and had exposed wiring. They told us we’ll send maintenance to fix it, no apology or any sort of “sorry for inconvenience” So we waited for a few hours but no one arrived so we went out. As two new parents on their first time away from baby, the only thing we wanted to do was sit with a cup of tea and watch tv after a late night at the AO.. I went to reception before heading up to the room at 11:45pm and asked if the issues had been fixed and gave the gentleman a run down. He quickly called our phone in the room and said yes but that still works.. not what I had asked, the safety element of the wires was the concern anyway the tv, he said he can see the notes on the system and that maintenance had been told but if I could let him know… so I need to go to my room to then wait for maintenance to arrive at anytime this late at night? I think not. Again no sorry for the inconvenience or any emotion at all. Guess what, the tv didn’t work. The staff are robotic and lack any kind of common curtsy. I can not believe I contacted reception twice and I was still no closer to getting a working tv or any form of apology. Even a fake sorry at this point would have done! Now things about the hotel beyond the control of the staff - The beds! 0 for confront. Hard mattress and the pillows are lifeless. Bring your own!! It has to go down for me as one of the worst beds in a hotel I have ever been too. Good points because it’s not all bad - Location the hotel is very central and is in good walking distance from everything and the outside noise is very limited. The rooms are clean and modern. Would I stay here again? Absolutely not. The comfort of the bed would have been enough to put me off staying with the chain again but to then have the rude and awful encounters we had due to things in our room not working, I would avoid at all costs. We’ve stayed at budget hotels in Manchester that had staff that smile and pillow that are plump! Edit - We told reception as we left about the issues and we got our first apology… which then opened up a can of worms. We were told twice that maintenance would be up to fix our tv to find out it’s a third party service provider so it was never going to be fixed during our stay. We were never offered to swap rooms during our stay which would have made the most difference if the tv could not be fixed. Ahmed offered us complimentary breakfast which we appreciated but we just wanted to leave as we got straight up and checked out. He also said if we came back he would look after us which again the thought was there but a little too late for us. We paid for a room that listed on their website a room that includes a tv with all these smart features so for me we have not received what we have paid for.

    Terrible customer experience

    Service was atrocious - Nearly got charged on check in despite already paying in advance, no apology from receptionist. - 'Romance package' is simply a scattering of rose petals with a bottle of white wine (£35) - Insects were found on the roof and wardrobes were damaged. - Complained to hotel staff and was told I can get complimentary beers for compensation. This was refused. Ended up getting free breakfast for the next morning. - Tv has chromecast option but chromecast doesn't work. Tv also switches off intermittently. - Complained (yet again) at the front desk and was offered another room citing a cancellation. Other room had no air conditioning/heating. Local temperatures being -3 degrees Celsius that night. - Returned back to the original room with no assistance from hotel staff. Promised to be given an upgraded room for the next day as soon as it was available. No upgrade was issued. All in all, the only positive is the bed was comfortable. Other than that, this hotel is a budget hotel parading as an AC hotel. Staff have poor conflict resolution skills and, facilities barely work. Disappointing when compared to the Birmingham equivalent.
