A wonderful place... ruined with a white cloud of insecticide
Customer service is outstanding at this hotel and the location is stunning. The new restaurant, Rubra, is excellent if a bit pricey. Great food, architecture and interior design. We had a wonderful experience, but I have to complain about the pesticides they use around the property. They use a golf cart to spray a white cloud of poison that would make Rachel Carson turn in her grave. The hotel management claims this is necessary to fight mosquitoes, but why not choose a more ecological option instead and provide either bracelets or a light spray for guests who request these things? The Nayarit Riviera is an amazing biodiversity "hotspot" and such indiscriminate use of pesticides will only harm and degrade the local environment. It might also harm hotel guests and the nice people who work there, despite what the pesticide manufacturers might say. (And they'll say anything to sell their products.) I talked to other guests during my stay, and they all agreed this had to stop. The general consensus was that the hotel should educate guests about the local environment and the subtropical climate, and then do the right thing with bracelets and personal sprays when necessary, which is when the sea wind is not blowing (not often). Sorry, but a white cloud of insecticide wafting in the air ruins an otherwise charming experience.

Jungle Oasis: Our W Punta Mita Getaway
Our week at W Punta Mita was a total relaxation! The hotel grounds are nestled in a stunning jungle setting, and the intoxicating scent of Night Blooming Jasmine filled the air – it was magical! The W Spa was an absolute dream. After a massage, relaxing in the pool with the majestic rustling of palm trees overhead and the enchanting songs of the local birds was pure tranquility. The gym was great too, with beautiful views. We loved working out there in the mornings, often having the whole place to ourselves. The staff were all superb – friendly, attentive, and always went above and beyond. A huge thanks to Alfredo, our favorite bartender, he's a true master of his craft, and Julio for their amazing service and food recommendations. We can't wait to return to W Punta Mita

Horrible service and not relaxing
We were asked at check in if we were celebrating anything special and we told them it was our anniversary and they said they’d make it special. Well that didn’t happen. Nothing. Zilch. I asked for dining options from the concierge and was not given complete info. Just two of the hotel choices when I found out later there were several more. I asked the concierge for all the hotel dining options and hours. I was only sent dinner options and nothing about lunches or breakfast. And the only dinner options I was given were Spice Market. I was told zero about Rumbra or others. I was told zero about Chevy (which is confusing —- see below). I was told nothing about: Rubra Living Room Bar Wet Deck Chevy Mesa 1 (online says to email, but we are told to call—very confusing) Wet Too (don’t even know where it is) Solero (don’t even know where it is) We had no streaming device. Waited way too long for it. Our toilet didn’t flush. We didn’t have hot water. Positive: a doctor was called for us. Thanks. Also the grounds and rooms are immaculately clean. Room service order was wrong both times. Tomatoes on my sandwich both times and I am allergic. But it had no lettuce or balsamic. No idea why. The quesadilla (photo attached) is a total joke for $17 USD. It’s crazy. And no sour cream with it even though I asked. We also asked for glasses from IRD and they didn’t bring any. And no spoons for soup the first time. All requests were written in English and Spanish. Some information says the living room bar is open at any hour. Other information says it has hours that are set. Some information says Rubra coffee bar and wine bar is open Wednesday through Sunday. Other information says it is closed on Wednesday. Nothing in the latest update says it is closed this Wednesday. Some information says Chevy closes at 6 PM. Some says 7 PM. Some says 6:30 PM. Some says 9 PM. And what is Solero??? The links for Rubra coffee menu and wine menu do not even work. We told the concierge several times about the food tray being left in our room. Over multiple days. We didn’t receive a reply at all. After they acknowledged it it made no difference. The tray stayed over 24 hours this time. Housekeeping never replaced our glasses in our room with clean glasses. The link attached says that Thursdays in December have a Mexican feast at Venazu. There are no more Thursdays in December when this link is sent out. So it’s this Thursday included even though it’s in January? Same question with Peruvian night at Chevy on Friday nights. It says December. This week is January. Is Jan 1 pizza and wine night at Venazu ONLY pizza? Or regular menu as well? It would be good to know so people can make choices. Champagne and seafood on Fridays at Wet Too (wherever that is) in December. Well again, this Friday is in January. So is it included? Is Garden Plaza and Wirikuta NYE dinner the same? They have two different name names, so there’s no way to know for sure. Is the reset brunch a buffet? Is there a menu available? Does one need reservations? (They never answered this.) Bonvoy Golden Hour: Friday night in December. Again, this Friday is January, so is it included? Also, what/where is Tapete Huichol? Found out it’s only for high level members. The literature does not say that. Sound healing: the guide says that the last one for December was the 30th. However, we found out there was another one this morning on the 31st. Would’ve been nice to know so we could have gone like we did on previous visits. It was a lovely experience. Are there any more complimentary sound bath this week? Would be good to know. Other information says that it’s at 9 AM every Friday and it’s complimentary. So which is the truth? The guide says that there are movies on Wednesday night in the sand. Is there one tomorrow night? Or is that canceled as well? (No one answered this.) The link I sent that I was given from the concierge for this week, shows there was a black Angus night on December 23. There was also one last night. We would have loved to have gone to that, but we didn’t know about it because it’s not on the schedule. Why???!!!????!! I ordered a mango ice cream, and ice cream, which is premade on Sunday at the beach. It took 45 minutes to get my ice cream after I asked for it twice. It’s unacceptable. I’ve stayed as I said at many W Hotels, St Regis, Four Seasons (those are my faves), and my mother is one of the top travel agents in the United States. I always leave an honest review on Tripadvisor and on Google. So, I am surprised that the pool chairs here fill up in the morning by seven or 8 AM and there is no one sitting there. The fact that they let people put a book or a towel on a chair and then go to breakfast and leave chairs unattended for hours so no one else can sit there is ridiculous. No other hotel allows this. It’s not fair to people who are at the pool looking for a place to sit. Literally every chair taken but not a single person at the pool. You need to change this policy. Period. Finally, Gutsavo from Guest Services stepped in and ensured our next room service order would be correct. Sadly, it was not and it was missing FOUR items. Going to the management here makes no difference. Lastly: The doctor you sent on Monday gave me a prescription for antibiotics. He GUARANTEED me I could get this at the gift shop here. I asked at the gift shop yesterday when I was in there if I would be able to get it today and they said yes. I just went to the gift shop again and the lady in there working now says they don’t have it, and they never carry it. She said they don’t ever have antibiotics. This is absolutely INSANE. I need this drug and no one here knows what the heck they are doing. I was here in 2020 and figured the service issues and wrong info was due to COVID and low staff, etc. But, it’s only worse. AVOID.

Terrible
Bugs all over the room dead on the floor. Rooms look run down, floors dirty. We payed for a room with an extra bed and when we got there they said they don’t have any more. We got a golf cart that would take us to dinner and it came about 20 minutes late so don’t use that.
