In the jungle, the mighty jungle~~

This was a really fun hotel with a beautiful beachfront. It feels like you are traveling in a jungle (because you probably are). If you are keen to notice details, past the initial layer of greenery, the place feels a bit unkempt and is hidden away in what almost feels like the middle of nowhere. You'll need to drive through some pretty rough looking stretch of roads after turning left randomly into a side road from the main highway without any signage before reaching the hotel. We followed directions from Google Maps and was led to what I assume was the service or back entrance to the hotel. You'll actually want to drive to the white rectangular structure near the northeast edge of the property, the vehicle lobby. They offer complimentary valet or self parking, and then will golf cart you in the main lobby to check in and then after a round of welcome drinks, to your room. They also provided a welcome gift of a kite, but it looked pretty simple but good enough for kids to mess around with. They were able to offer me a much appreciated upgrade to an Ocean View room. Unfortunately, the shower pressure was weak, and the water temperature was inconsistent. It wasn't very hot on the first day, and then scorching on the second. The room is a little bit on the smaller side, and it has an open bath concept which we weren't a fan of. There is one single pool, but it wasn't very crowded during our stay. They also offered a big treasure box of beach toys for the kids as well as sunscreen and aloe vera. We also received complimentary breakfast due to Bonvoy status, and kids ate free. They had some good options for fruit juice, pastries, eggs, bacon, and sausage. It wasn't huge, but decent enough selection that you don't have to repeat getting the same thing. On the far end of the restaurant is an omelet station too. They seemed to be getting busier on the day of checkout. We asked if it was possible for a late checkout, but they were only able to offer a 12:30pm. Overall, this was a fun stay. It would be great if they can spend a little bit more on the jungle ambiance to make it feel more intentional and refined instead of just a hotel built within wild foliage.

Fantastic option on all fronts. Congrats to the hotel staff and manager.

Fantastic hotel and attention. We stayed from Feb 27th to Mar 2nd. Since we arrived, the attention was top class. The best ever at any other hotel we’ve stayed. Congrats to the hotel staff. Particularly, Rodrigo at the front desk was amazing.

    Rip off

Rip off We were walking down the road toward the entrance to catch our car A hotel driver offered us a ride so we figured why not jump in for a minute? he drove us less than 100 meters to the second gate before we saw our car. For his hospitality offering us a ride - even a short one I gave him a $5 US dollar tip He informed me that the ride cost was actually $10 dollar and demanded more. Not sure if this is hotel policy but seemed like a huge rip off

    Five Star Resort

Fantastic property superb 👌 service highly recommend top notch service amazing Restaurants excellent food. FYI if you book your own transfers communicate with the front desk upon check in. They want you to use their taxi service which is super expensive other than that we had great time.

    Love Mexico

Huge fans of Mexico, and our first time to W at Punta. Tried a jungle room - cool room, but a 5 minute walk to the beach, each direction, and had to dodge mosquito sprayers along the way. I would have welcomed an overpriced mini-bar, but there was none. So, to enjoy a single beer or soda in our room you want me to make a call to Room Service and then wait...for a single anything? Hmmm. (No, beer was not available for purchase anywhere on site besides their restaurants.) I did ask about alternative room options - $700/night extra for a shorter walk and partial ocean view, and the hotel was only at 60% occupancy, for a Bonvoy member of years? Hmmm. The beach experience was full of joy - clean, clear and colorful water, just great, with miles of happy beach all around. The Mexican food was delicious and the staff were all great. However, I was stung in the ocean by, my guess, a stingray. Serious pain, lots of gushing blood. I hobbled back for help. Someone showed up with a basic med kit. (A doctor service was offered.) I did ask for something for the intense pain. The W suggested I walk over to their store and look for options. So, sitting in a pool of my own blood with blood still coming out of my ankle, in serious pain with zero mobility, the W solution was for me to get up and walk over to their little store and go shopping? The only official protocol was a W staff asked me to sign a waiver indemnifying the hotel of any responsibility. Post fact, not one W employee/manager inquired about my well-being, not ever. I don't need/look for sympathy and the sting/wound was no big deal, but shouldn't a manager or someone from the W at least pretend to care about the well-being of their guest? One simple follow-up could have made all the difference. And, yes, I went back into the ocean - no issues and just wonderful. A hotel with potential but execution could be so much better.
