Nice hotel with large rooms
Great property to stay at if you are looking for larger rooms. There is definitely a luxurious feel to this property that the Mandalay Bay did not. I would avoid strip view if airplane noise will bother you because all the flights East could be heard. My biggest criticism about this place is how chaotic the main hallway to the W gets when the Michael Jackson shows lets out since their doors are located in the middle of the hallway. To compound on this issue, I don't know why staff thought it would be a good idea to set up merchandise tables along this hallway as well. While trying to get to my room I saw a guy with a gold chain and leather pants on stick out his shoulder on purpose to knock over this old lady. Dude just kept walking. There is definitely a lack of security outside this event and in the W's hallway.

I stayed hundreds of nights at the Delano, but my first stay at the W will be my last. Avoid.
I've stayed at the Delano countless times. Probably 200 nights across the last 10 years. It was a home away from home, and I recommended it to dozens of friends. My first stay at the new W hotel, the rebranded Delano, will be my last time at this property. I paid a premium to book a room with a King bed. (I booked before the switchover but arrived after the rebranding had occurred.) When I arrived late in the evening, my wife and I were given a room with 2 Queens. The front desk agent said we were being given a "great room" but didn't give us any details. I know that MGM sells the different room types and bed types at different price points, so I called down. It took 10 minutes to get someone on the phone, and they had to repeatedly put me on hold to check in with various people. Eventually, they told me that they had zero King rooms available in the hotel and couldn't accommodate my "request". Since my confirmation said "King suite" and not a room type to be determined by the property, I pushed back. This hotel has over 1,1100 rooms - I have no doubt that they had a King room available and held back as a potential comp. I was transferred to whoever was running Mandalay room operations that night, who said that they could see the rates I paid vs. what the other rates were at the time (very unlikely) and that I hadn't paid extra (false). I was told that the hotel reserves the right to put me in a room with different bed types, even though my confirmation specifies a type of bed. I asked for a refund and was told no. The hotel offered to try and move me the next day without any promises of a King room being available, and insisted that I would have to check in with them again at 4 PM to confirm whether the room switch would actually be possible. After an hour on the phone, I wasn't going to disrupt my next day in Vegas even further. The person in charge could not have been ruder or more dismissive. I finished my stay in the 2 Queens room and will just find a new home in Vegas from this point forward. So, just know that if you book a room type with a certain bed configuration, even if you pay extra to do so, MGM will have no qualms about putting you into something different. My booking agent eventually negotiated behind the scenes for a partial refund, which I appreciated, but Mandalay/W didn't offer me that same courtesy. I really loved the Delano, but there have been signs of things going downhill even before the reflag as a W. The nearest restaurants, which weren't ever great, are now closed. The TVs in the bathrooms have been removed and replaced with another piece of photo art. The tech in the rooms is last-generation compared to other comparably-priced hotels in Vegas (I've since made my most recent stay at the Virgin hotel and found that to be a significant upgrade.) The parking garage routinely has floors closed. Even with the hotel charging an exorbitant sum for valet, removing significant demand in the process, you can no longer call down in advance for your vehicle. The casino pit closest to the hotel is rarely open. And MGM's rewards program has made hotel spending a waste of time.

A 'W' in name only (Bonvoy member: avoid!)
Old, boring decor. Lobby bar sad and closed most of the time. Restaurant in the link to Mandalay was closed. A little tired: e.g carpet had stains. Lots of details just missing; e.g. amenities limited (e.g. one bottle of soap for bath/hand basins with an aggressive sign that if you dare take it you will be charged $25.) Whole place feels bog-standard Vegas corporate hotel with the default attitude that you are mug to be fleeced for as much as possible. Service production line. e.g. they said my card was declined (it was not) so locked me out of my room. Fine mistakes happen, but they were aslow and grumpy about sorting it out, with no reference to the fact that I have spent $20k last year at Marriott and have the W SanFran booked and am very unlikely to run away for a hotel charge. Also no benefits or proper 'normal' recognition for Bonvoy status (no room upgrade despite Platinum Elite status), no welcome letter, just... nothing. Avoid, especially if you want a W experience or are a Bonvoy member, at least until its properly renovated (if that is to happen).

W Las Vegas horrible customer service
Warning!!warning!! the W is a place you don’t want to spend your hard earned money. The customer service is so bad at this hotel. We got compt rooms from mgm because we go to Vegas quite often, every time we go for dinner or spa we put the charge on the room at every hotel we ever stayed at so we get reward points been doing this for years. We leave our room to go gamble and shop we come back to our room and our keys won’t work so we go down to the front desk and they tell us they locked us out because we owe 800 dollars on our room charges. I said ok we always pay that when we check out we still had 2 days left. They said no we had to pay now I told them u have a card on file why didn’t u charge that. I asked to talk to the manager he comes out so rude pretty much like hey what do u want. I told him this was unacceptable locking us out of our room for 800 dollars. I asked if this was a big deal why not just call us the manger then started saying we would run out on our bill if they call us. I can’t believe the leadership at the W they compt us rooms because we spend money then on the other hand say we might run out on the bill. It is crazy how this world works now no customer service and at this hotel it seems like they think they r doing the customer a favour for letting us stay here. I will never spend a penny of mine at mgm. But mgm doesn’t care if I do or not. By having a manger at the W that has no manors or any people skills just shows what they think of their customers. Manger told me he has b here for 25 years lol locking people out of there rooms for 800 bucks when they could of charge the card or like every hotel in Vegas clear up when u check out. Horrible experience, Vegas is definitely not what it use to be.

Excellent, clean room!
We didn't know we were getting this hotel. We thought we were at Mandalay Bay. We were pleasantly surprised. The room was very clean, very comfortable, and quite minimalistic. Bed was quite comfy! Pillows were ok. We couldn't believe that we had to pay $65.00 a day to put something in the fridge! Hubby has meds. Found out we could get a fridge in the room for free! It was delivered in 10 minutes and it was already cold! I would definitely stay there again.
