Mar 11, 2025Not great for families with kids under five, hard to get into restaurants
Overall, well kept grounds and food at the restaurants other than Mitra (cafeteria style) was quite good. They stopped doing reservations for the restaurants a couple of days into our stay and the waits were 45minutes to an hour at one and an hour and a half at a another which is challenging with kids. Mitra is the cafeteria style breakfast and dinner location and Applebees level quality. Definitely nothing special. There is no snack type place or coffee shop like we have seen at other all inclusive. Pretty minimal food options between lunch and dinner. Room service isn’t stellar and takes 45+minutes. We traveled with 2 toddlers and were unable to be in a ground floor room so had to haul the stroller up and down the stairs. Rooms are private and quiet. Air conditioned- the restaurants are not. There really aren’t any views from the restaurants or pools. No kids pool. There is a shallow area that drops right off into a 5 foot area. Kids under 4 cannot go into kids club at all. Wouldn’t go back with toddlers- would consider as adults or with older kids Clean, quiet, safe, food at restaurants is great if you can get in.

Overall, Very Good
Overall, this spot is very, very good. The food as in most all-inclusive spots is just OK at best. The best restaurant for dinner is the Cauri at the main lobby. That spot has a cool vibe. Out of 4 nights we ate off site 2 nights. Basically, the drinking starts at 11AM. So, if that is your jam then you are in the right spot or if you are a golfer. Grounds are well maintained with all sorts of wildlife on the premises such as Iguana's and Monkeys. The staff is 100% amazing. They are skimpy on the towels and body lotion but that is an easy fix. Best pool was the adults only pool by the only two low rise buildings. All other rooms are bungalow style and quite roomy. The beaches is Costa Rica are public so be prepared for the many vendors standing on the wall of the property attacking you for a massage, a horseback ride or some trinket. Great spot for families.

We had an amazing time at the Westin Conchal! The service was impeccable, the food was great and the grounds are superb! We also booked some services with Erik G (the guy with the blue Google shirt on the beach) and his service and suggestions were perfect! Highly recommend the Westin and if you want to do excursions, look for Erik G! We had a fantastic time and great memories made!

LOVED
We absolutely loved this resort and would definitely stay again!! Staff was very friendly! Lots of activities planned! Great family resort or just couples resort! The food was excellent. We made reservations after we got there for their Al la cart restaurants and then we ate breakfast and lunch at the Mitra market that had 5 different food stations and food themes at night. I could have easily ate at the Mitra market for dinner because everything was so good including the service. The bars had wonderful mixologist and the drinks were so good! I have been to multiple sandals all adults resorts and this one met and exceeded my expectations of all inclusive resorts for food, drinks and service! It was a very clean resort! Loved the beach! They have a great spa, but you cannot miss the opportunity to have a beach massage from the locals right on the beach for only $40 for a 1 hr massage! I got one every day that I was there under the green tent! One of the best massages I’ve ever had!! I loved seeing all the wild life on the resorts from the iguanas, to the birds, squirrels and all the howler monkeys! They were so much fun to watch! I highly recommend contacting Andrei with conchalfun.com. I read about him on trip advisor and contacted him through the website and he messaged me right back that evening and set up everything we wanted to do for our stay. He was easy to work with and provided us some our best excursions. He took us into a beach/surf town called Tamarindo for the day. We even got to meet his dog Shakira who tagged along with us. The 2 of them were great! He set us up with Carlos for our own private tour for the day to 2 different waterfalls, a sloth/ nature tour. A locals restaurant for lunch, a coffee/ chocolate tour. He was so good! And then our last day Andrei set it up for a catamaran snorkeling/swimming sunset with the lazy lizard! It was so much fun! You will not be disappointed. Everything was perfect and we cannot wait to return to Costa Rica!!!

Another Wonderful Stay!
This was our third straight year staying at the Westin. The grounds continue to be beautiful and very well maintained. The staff is exceptional. The bedding super comfortable. We saw a lot of upgrades with regards to the evening entertainment. Also,t there are a lot of activities planned by the Pool Activity Center. The activity center staff is one of a kind. Our complaint this year is about Mitra which is great for breakfast but food not so good for lunch and dinner. The restaurants that we visited were all excellent, with great food and waiter service. I was sorry to see that the great Coffee Machine that was located at the pool was removed. It's a shame not to be to have that afternoon cup of coffee nearby. Overall, it was a wonderful stay.
