Jan 13, 2025Unfulfilled Potential
After staying at this hotel a few times, I'm unsure if I will return in its current physical state unfortunately. The biggest draw to this hotel is its impressive location above the Orchard MRT station and attached to ION Orchard mall. Otherwise, the hotel itself is very dated. After checking in, we noticed a terrible smell in the room and requested to change. The second room also had a terrible smell but it was more bearable (later we found out this was from the exposed pipes in the bathroom floor that also make noise anytime one uses the sink or shower). The beds were also quite old and bumpy. The lounge was uninspiring, especially in a foodie's paradise like Singapore. Breakfast was also among the most basic I've come across in this caliber of hotel - literally frozen waffles and pancakes to heat up in a toaster. However, there were a few service highlights I'd like to mention. Our flight was scheduled to leave well into the evening, and the staff generously worked with us to arrange a late checkout - which was greatly appreciated prior to our 30 hour journey. The hotel provides an abundance of complimentary bottled water, including at check in. This might seem trivial, but it was highly appreciated! Lastly, a huge shoutout to Karl, Emily, Dhivya, and Razak for going above and beyond during our stay Hopefully my next time in Singapore, this hotel will have undergone a bit of remodeling and soft product recalibration as it has so much potential!

Jan 12, 2025Good hotel. Feels like a standard nicely run 5 star hotel in a good location. A few improvements could be made.
I stayed for 4 nights in Dec 2024 Pros: -bed is comfortable. i'd rate it maybe a 7.5/10 in terms of mattress firmness. medium-firm but with some softness to it. -daily housekeeping which also provide plenty of bottled water. -bathroom is big with plenty of hot water and a big rain head too. -enough bathroom sink bench space to spread your things out. -wifi is pretty decent. mobile speed tested at 30.7mbps (download) and 45.8mpbs (upload). -tv with different channels from abroad as well. -swimming pool is large enough. -elevators are pretty fast. -aircon works pretty well but no fan speed change control. You can only control the temperature and mode (cool or fan mode). -lots of toiletry amenities provided. Cons: -no luggage rack. -bathroom sink tap is too low (they should have placed it a little further up on the wall when they were renovating). so if you put your hands together to wash your hands sometimes your hand touches the basin. -i don't like the soap they use at this hotel. very drying on the hands. the shower gel is a little better but still a little drying. something in the ingredients of the soaps is causing dryness and irritation. they should overhaul the whole line to cater to those with sensitive skin and therefore anyone can use it without problems. there are multiple other 5 star hotels in Singapore i've stayed at that have soaps that do not dry the skin. -shower drain is a tiny bit slow to drain but not too bad. i guess it just needs a bigger drainage hole. the water will fill slightly to the line where the edge of the shower tile tilts down, not a big issue though, just something i noticed. -pillows are too high. the hotel needs a slightly lower or flatter pillow, even the softer one they have is a bit too high. -if you are really ocd about these kind of things, the room is not symmetrical. kind of pentagonal. Desk location may throw you off because it's placed at a point and not on a straight wall area. something to point out but only if you are very particular about this kind of thing. -there is no light indicator on the outside of the elevator to show which elevator is opening, just a noise indication and the 4 elevators are spread apart so you can only see 2 clearly. Overall rating: 9.0/10

A hotel to come back to.
A wonderful hotel in every regard. This is a luxury hotel at a reasonable price compared to comparable hotels. As a Titanium Elite Marriot member, we got an upgraded room, access to the executive lounge and a complimentary breakfast. Our room was wonderful and I suspect the standard rooms are comparable. The executive lounge served a decent dinner if you were too tired to go out. The waitstaff was simply wonderful.The buffet breakfast was outstanding, and if you have to pay for it, it is very reasonably priced. The entire staff was universally helpful, and extremely pleasant. Lastly, its location is very good.

Location is perfect, in the heart of the city and next to all the shops on Orchard road. The staff is friendly. Seats in the lounge are not very comfortable and minimally provisioned but very friendly staff. Great bar and food place at the lobby. We forgot a phone at the bar and they securely kept it until we could claim it later. MRT also under the hotel so very convenient. The rooms are nice and clean. Big bathroom and nice amenities. Nice pool. TV could be easier to link with Apple devices. Beds super comfortable but wifi not always fast , sometimes speed drops which was quite annoying.

Exceptional Hospitality at Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel
My first experience at the Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel was fantastic. The hotel was clean, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. I want to give a special shoutout to Ms. Halmira from the Front Desk for the upgrade and complimentary breakfast. I truly appreciate it. I'd also like to thank Ms. Liz from the Food & Beverage team for kindly escorting me to my breakfast seat and making sure I navigated the small stairs safely. The breakfast spread was impressive, with plenty of options, and I will definitely be returning for another staycation!
