Best resort in Kauai if you want the beach to play in without all the masses!
Our group of 6 absolutely loved this resort. My parents took us and my sister and her husband. Maybe March will be my new preferred time to come here because the weather was just perfect. Even the rainiest days meant best waves in the ocean for play. We even went in the pool while it was pouring rain. My heart was so happy. It was never cold at all. My favorite parts of this place was the 2 min walk to beach from our ocean front room. My other favorite part was the unbusy vibe. The pool was never full, seats were always open. My favorite were the lounge chairs on the grass in front of the beach. We loved the fun waves, the Shops 15 min walk away and the Lava restaurant. We ate there most mornings and on rainy evenings. Super clean rooms, ease of towels, and renting things for the beach. We ate at Kenjis in Old town Koloa as we came to town. Amazing food. We ate at Savage Shrimp (cheapest dinner) at the Shops. We treated ourselves to Brenneckes on the Beach in Poipu and saw the turtles there on the beach as well. Amazing food. We ate at Holoholo at the Marriot resort and it was good but Lava was a favorite. We stayed here a full week and saw the beaches by Princeville and visited Waimea Canyon another day. We all loved the Blue Dolphin sunset whale watch (the cheapest thing we did.). We could have stayed out all night it was so magical. It was a gift for sure for our family. My only problem was getting to our room. we walked from Bldg 1 to Bldg 2 and never saw signs. My parents are older so it was a bit of trudgery with all the suitcases. Finding elevators on the first day made it difficult.

Amazing employees and customer service, especially Joshua!!
We spent two weeks staying on the beach side at the Sheraton Kauai Resort in Feb 2026. Except for the weather / high winds and rain for a week it was a wonderful stay. We rented some cabanas, sat by the pool and took some excursions that the resort helped us plan. The food was wonderful at both Lavas and Rum Fire. I would highly recommend staying at the Sheraton Kauai Resort. I special shoutout to the Manager of the pool and beach activities, Joshua. I experienced a minor medical event and was trying to get to a med clinic. We had no rental car and was having difficulties getting a Uber or Taxi to respond. We approached Joshua and asked for assistance. He said he would take care of it and in five minutes we were on our way. My event was a little more serious than I thought and after the med clinic visit I was transferred and had a three day hosiptal stay. Had it not been for Joshua stepping up and acting as quickly as he did it could have been a worst situation. After I returned to the resort for the rest of my stay I had a chance to thank Joshua and asked him why did he go out of his way to help us? It was not his responsibility. He told me that I was a guest of the resort and that they think of guests as family. If the General Manager reads this review, you should know that Joshua is an outstanding ambassador for Sheraton Kauai Resort and he should be recognized for his outstanding service to us. Thank you Joshua for all your help and assistance with getting me to the Med Clinic!!!

Roach infested.
Roach infested hotel. Moved to three different rooms all with the same problem. Roaches were on the nightstands, bathrooms and walls. Yes it’s tropical and raining but these were big roaches and multiple in every room. The room is dated and old. The air conditioning is loud. The towels are ripped. But the worst thing was all the roaches. We had to keep all bags closed throughout the trip to keep them out of our bags. Horrible vacation. Ruined our trip. We were not compensated or anything. All they kept saying was “sorry they come out when it rains.” It rains every day on the island. That is an excuse. Been to Hawaii many times and never had this problem at any other hotel. Checked out early and went to another hotel on our last night.

The ambience, the views and amazing staff keeps up coming back for more!
Before covid my husband and I stayed at the hotel for 2 week stays and always splurged on the 4th floor overlooking the beach and ocean as one cannot beat that view. We now rent a condo but we always visit the Sheraton Kauai Resort because we enjoy both RumFire and Lavas. The staff always remember us and warmly welcomes us with a special shout out to Benjie and Noel at RumFire, Gina at Lavas and David who manages both locations. Meeting the General Manager was a highlight and Katie personally arranged for our dinner reservations at RumFire as we arrived on Valentines Day. The filet mignons that were personally presented by the Executive Chef were outstanding and probably the best we've ever eaten. The Chef also surprised and delighted us on another evening with an incredible seafood and rice dinner. We've been visiting this property off and on for approximately 12 years and again it's because of the great beach location, the ambience but especially the wonderful staff. Thanks to all of you and hope to see you again next year! Patty & Mike

Perfect Location - Laid Back Vibe
Wonderful ambience at this Bonvoy property. Would definitely recommend. My room on the 4th floor overlooked the pool and the beach. Just perfect. The beach was great for walking on, and viewing monk seals and turtles that were frequent visitors. Great location. Employees were friendly and efficient. A little bit of a “laid back” vibe which is definitely to my liking. Plenty of places to sit around the property, and the free activities made for a nice change of pace. My lava rock bracelet will be a constant reminder of a great trip.
