Marriott Resort and Casino was average. Very overpriced.
The room rate is much too high for the attributes! The rooms are very small and the ocean view was just a sliver and the remaining view was of another high rise building. The toilet paper was cheap, one-ply and I would figure a resort hotel would have a more quality toilet paper. My wife and I asked 3 times in 3 days to refill the body wash in the bathroom. Never happened. The resort fee was $75 a day and you had to arrive early to get an ocean front beach chair. The beach is average and has a large rock formation in the swimming area!

Could be better for the price
Pros: Centrally located hotel with many restaurants accessible by walking. Very nice hotel reception area and lower ground floor. Pool area is great. Service was outstanding. Clean rooms with nice views. Nice and clean beach. Cons: The breakfast buffet is expensive and not good despite many choices. Breakfast a la carte is much better and reasonably priced. Rooms can get noisy when guests are loud. Terrible pillows even if replaced. Sleeping can be a challenge without sleep aids. Staff will not open umbrellas when windy even when all other resorts have them opened. More pool area sitting is required. Tiny business area. Many closed gambling tables at the casino. We never saw an opened craps table, my favorite game. Strong currents can be dangerous for children.

Rip off - Low value to money!!!
We just checked in. We plan to stay for 7 days paying 500$ per night plus additional >60$ fees. Our room has a view to the roof of a building!!! Total rip off! Stay away!

Average Hotel with Above Average Prices
We stayed at the San Juan Marriott for a week at the end of February. This is the first time I've felt it necessary to make a list of my experiences (both good and bad) to include in my review. First the Pros: The location of this hotel is perfect, within walking distance to multiple restaurants, shops and drug stores. Housekeeping was spectacular! They always found time to make up our room regardless of when we left during they day and did a great job at keeping things tidy. They never failed to leave 3 bottles of water and restock the toiletry items. Next the Cons: Our room wasn't ready at the check in time of 4 and we ended up waiting until 4:45 to check in. While we waited for check in, we visited the spa to make massage appointments. During the entire week of our reservation, we couldn't get even ONE couples massage. I've never had this experience before and was very disappointed. Luckily we visited the Vanderbilt Hotel multiple times for spa treatments during our week's stay and they were wonderful. By day 2 we couldn't use streaming services on the tv in the room. After several calls they finally sent a technician who had to work for about an hour to fix it. The TV volume would not go over a certain setting--which was ok most times but we were above the hotel's outdoor venue and in the evenings they had VERY LOUD music from 5-10 pm and you couldn't watch tv or do anything else due to noise. The last complaint I will mention is the worst one--other reviews mention a mildew smell and there is a VERY STRONG mildew smell in the room. While I've stayed elsewhere with a slight smell, this room was really bad. Be prepared to wash everything when you return home. The staff was just ok-some friendly, some not. For this price I expected better and will book a different hotel on my return to Puerto Rico.
- AdvisoryThe following mandatory hotel-imposed fees are charged and collected by the hotel either at check-in or check-out. Resort fee: $65 (Plus Taxes) per room, per night Mandatory hotel-imposed fees may not include tax and are subject to change, this is an estimate of what you will be charged. The hotel can provide current fees and inclusions when you check-in.
- AdvisoryThe hotel has completed the lobby and front desk remodel. Lobby looks fantastic, much more space and a more personalized front desk.
- AdvisoryThe renovation at the resort has now been completed, which unveils a stunning new chapter for this iconic destination. With refreshed rooms, reimagined spaces, and an infusion of modern elegance, every detail has been thoughtfully designed to elevate the guest experience. Whether you’re savoring sunset views by the pool or unwinding in the sleek, stylish interiors, the Resort is ready to welcome you to a renewed paradise where comfort and beauty meet the spirit of Puerto Rico.
