Nice rooms - confusing charging structure

Rooms were nice and modern, but have a weird $30 daily fee which is credited to breakfast next day or dinner. Breakfast buffet is ok but repetitive. Gym has cardio machines but virtually nothing resistance-wise. Parking here is extortionate in many cases more than you pay for the car rental. Staff are exceptional and always helpful. Why don't you offer a simple bed and breakfast offering and get rid of the confusing daily fee.

Nice, clean - but no bag storage for before/after check-in/out so need to make alternative arrangements

Positives: Great location - close to tourist spots, lots of restaurants and cruise ship terminal. Comfy beds and fluffy pillows. Modern rooms, lots of USB charging ports, clean and spacious. The lounge in the lobby is nice and was quite busy - we enjoyed a nightcap and some delicious (seriously delicious) nachos. Nice spot to unwind and service was friendly. Other considerations and notes: We came off a cruise ship and arrived in the morning - Although I had called and asked about luggage storage 5 days prior) we were informed that they will NOT store bags - thus paid $50 early check in fee. We had also requested feather free room - both in the app, special requests and by phoning 5 days prior. This request was not noted (it never is, honestly we are used to it) but in this instance if we wanted feather free a room wouldn’t be available until later that evening. We just gave up and took a regular room - that said they were able to find a feather free pillow so that was good. The last slight inconvenience was that the deadbolt didn’t lock on our room. There was a backup flip security device (like the old chain system) so that was our backup. Overall decent hotel, clean, modern and great location. I might stay again but also would likely try somewhere else that could store our bags before/after checkout.

Great location, clean and modern. Lovely staff.

We were very happy with our choice of lodging for our 5-day vacation in San Francisco. The staff here are very professional and helpful. All our requests were attended to quickly and with kindness. The $30 destination fee was offset with a $30 credit in the on-site restaurant which we used for sodas, water and desserts. The concierge gave us coupons for local dining at pier 39 and the 2hrs free bike rental per day was a great deal if you’d rather bike than walk. It was a very short walk to get on a cable car or street car or bus. It was a quick walk to fisherman’s warf and pier 39. The room was clean and although we only needed housekeeping service once; they were quick and neat. The front desk staff were always ready with a smile. The bar staff was always to place our dessert to go orders and ready with our canned sodas when they saw us walk up. The only reason we didn’t give 5 stars is because there is no microwave available in the rooms. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting San Francisco.

    No luggage storage available

Being a loyal Marriott Rewards member for 25 years I gave the hotel another chance. This was my third but last visit at the Marriott Fishermans Wharf. Why: Building and rooms are aging, quality is further deteriorating (compare my tripadvisor review 10 years ago). It is now rather on Residence Inn level than being a typical Marriott. But price, especially the hidden costs, is raising even higher. E.g. $30/day mandatory "ameninty fee". Fortunately we did not need parking ($75/day). After check out we asked them to store our luggage until afternoon as we wanted to spend the day in the area before catching an evening flight. This was denied: luggage storage is not available, even for a fee. Recommendation of the receptionist was to "ask in the neighboring hotels - they may offer such a luggage storage even for non-guests". Next time we will book rooms directly in such a neighboring hotel.

    Exceptional

We had a wonderful stay- will definitely stay here again if we return. Location was perfect, restaurant/ bar was delicious- we were able to use our daily credit for drinks one night and dinner the next- everything was upfront, our room was clean, beds were comfortable and we had a very pleasant experience. Staff was extremely professional!
