Beautiful resort!
The location is definitely isolated as it is approximately 2 kms from a main road. We did a couple of day tours and were picked up at the resort. The atmosphere is great. It is a beautiful resort and though it is has many rooms it really doesn't take long to tour the grounds. The rooms are modern, clean and well equipped. I loved sitting on the balcony in the morning having coffee! We had an early morning tour and breakfast was served to the room(at no cost) ! Great service. The hotel was great at accommodating our several requests and i would highly recommend this resort!

Royalton Riviera Cancún with grandsons
We (70 yr old couple, son’s family of 4 with children 10 & 7) spent 4 full days at the Royalton Riviera Cancún, arriving on Mon afternoon and leaving on Sat morning. With the exception of a couple of issues I will mention the stay was excellent. The registration process was good and we were assigned a personal concierge. The 2 rooms given were perfectly located near the kids’ pools allowing quick access to the pools and beaches. They were clean, cleaned daily, and one could choose to have sheets changed daily. We did not and sheets were changed every 3 days, so once during our stay. That was not a problem for us and our choice. The staff was very friendly and attentive, from checkin to checkout, including registration staff, bar staff, pool/towel attendants, restaurant staff. Meals were very good. The buffet restaurant was outstanding and the grandsons’ favorite due to the great variety of choice. I have 2 negatives which were annoying, but did not really affect our enjoyment. Firstly, the app we were asked to download is mediocre at best. We used it to make restaurant reservations and review menus. One negative is that the menus for all of the restaurants was not available on the app so the menu could not be used to help make a decision. We made restaurant reservations for 3 dinners. All other meals were at the buffet which was excellent. Grazie, Italian, was great. I made a reservation directly with the hostess as I walked by to check out the menu which could not be found on the app. I tried to make a reservation on the app for Agave, but was unable to do so, therefore made it directly with the host. We made a reservation at Taj for one dinner on the app then changed our mind. There was no way to cancel the reservation on the app so I asked our assigned concierge to cancel it for us. I made a substitute reservation directly with a host at Armadillo. When we arrived at Armadillo we were told that we had a reservation at Taj, not at Armadillo. I have no idea what happened, but a hotel manager found us a table at Hunter, the steak restaurant. Very good meal, excellent service, but I must say extremely annoying experience. A second issue involved a noise disturbance that occurred one night that knocked a piece of art over our bed loose off the wall. We complained the next morning before leaving on an all day tour. On our return the issue had not been addressed by as we had been led to believe would happen. We finally were able to speak to a night guest services manager, Armando, who addressed the issue right away having someone inspect the room and take down the art work. Another night there was a noise disturbance I think related to too much spring break partying. Annoying at best. Perhaps periodic security patrols would be helpful to prevent these occurrences. I would stay at the hotel again, but forget downloading the app and just make dinner reservations directly with hosts. I found the concierge we were assigned to not be helpful.

Left with a black eye!
Royalton Riviera Cancun. We were having dinner at the Zen TEPPANYAKI when the chef was acting silly, lost control of his spatula, and it went flying and hit my daughter in the face. She instantly had swelling and a red mark. For the rest of the week she had a black eye and soreness. I was not impressed seeing my daughter walk around with a black eye. We saw the on-site doctor and did a report but this was highly unprofessional. Accidents happen but if the sharp end of the spatula would have hit her it could have caused serious injuries. Our Butler Jocelyn was excellent and cared for all of our needs. I rate her 10/10. Great job Jocelyn. She helped during the incident and catered to all our needs. The resort itself had decent food although we had 2 bad meals. One for lunch at the Mexican and one for Dinner at the Hunter Steak house. Food items were cold and most meat was really dry and tough. The buffet was good but a strong smell of sewage could be smelled when entering the buffet. The resort staff were great, the resort is constantly being cleaned. They have a great fitness Center and Courts for pickleball and tennis. The pools and beach are great. Nice white sand on the beach. Sandy bottom no rocks. Probably won’t return.
