  Disappointing Experience. Not Worth the Price

  We stayed at Royalton Chic Cancun over Christmas, and unfortunately the experience did not live up to expectations, especially given the premium pricing and “luxury” positioning of the resort. The biggest issue was constant upselling. Nearly every interaction felt transactional, upgrades, upgrade paid dinners, premium experiences, many of which were aggressively pushed but poorly executed. The irony is that some of the upsold meals were extremely underwhelming; several dishes were honestly on par with (or worse than) what you’d get at Denny’s, despite the resort charging “elevated dining” prices. Communication was consistently poor. The most frustrating example was Christmas Eve dinner. We were explicitly told our reservation was booked, only to arrive and be told there was no reservation at all, effectively ruining what should have been a special Christmas Eve. Similarly, excursions we requested were never booked despite following the process and receiving verbal confirmation. These weren’t minor inconveniences; they were failures that directly impacted our vacation. On the positive side, the butler service was solid about 90% of the time; responsive, friendly, and genuinely helpful when things worked as intended. The drinks were also good, with bartenders generally doing a nice job. The food overall was just okay, not terrible, but far from memorable and certainly not worthy of the hype or pricing. In short, Royalton Chic Cancun markets itself as a luxury, adults-only experience, but the execution falls short. Between the relentless upselling, broken promises, and lack of follow-through, it felt more frustrating than relaxing. I am certain there are far better resorts in Cancun that deliver stronger service, better food, and a more seamless guest experience for the same amount. I will not return.

  Ready to return

  Had an amazing time ! Gilbert and Cesar our butlers were amazing!!! Can not wait to return. We have visited several countries and resorts and we received the best service at Royalton !!! We also loved Kuri at the diamond club lounge .

  Our butlers made it bearable

  Unfortunately, what should have been a memorable holiday didn't live up to expectations. We booked this break for a special birthday through TUI on a 2 centre deal, with the first week spent on Cozumel, which was excellent. When we arrived at the Royalton, the check-in went smoothly but once out into the hotel the noise from the pool area was intense. We also found out that although we booked a sea view room, when we upgraded to diamond club we had been allocated a sunset view, which was a view of the car park and a busy dual carriageway. We tried to get this sorted out but the hotel would only allow us to move if we paid an upgrade fee of $90 per night. We saw our TUI rep the next day and although we could prove that we had booked a sea view room, she could only negotiate a 40% discount to move to the room that we had booked, so we paid this as the first night's experience was terrible. By moving rooms, this did enable us to settle in and enjoy what was on offer. The food in the buffet was outstanding with so much choice and by being diamond club we were able to experience the various a la carte restaurants, which we found were good, except La Hacienda, where we were greeted at 9:30pm by the waiter who rushed us telling us that the kitchen closed at 10pm so we should order quickly, not the best experience. The wait for the lifts was dire, as in previous reviews you have to wait for a considerable amount of time to get the lift and it often didn't even stop at our floor, as there are only stairs from the ground to the 3rd floor, there wasn't even an option to bypass the lift fiasco. Although this hotel wasn't for us, the service that we received from Daniel and Steff, our butlers allocated to us on Diamond club was outstanding, we'd also like to give a special mention to Kuri in the Diamond Club bar and Martin who worked in Hunters steak house.

  Thank you for the magical experiences. You made our days unforgettable, especially Nelly, Diego from the Vibe Tean, Alex the photografer and the pastry chef. The variety of food was abundant, and the programs were amazing — you surprised us every single day.

  The Christmas food selection was amazing (lobster)!The Grinch’s arrival on a Harley motorcycle with his helpers was incredible.

  I recommend it to everyone! Child-free! We stayed for 10 days, with varied programs and food every single day. Friendly staff: Alex, Diego, Nelly, and the bartenders!
