Really good overall experience!
We recently stayed at this hotel in Antigua and overall had a very enjoyable stay, with a few areas that could be improved. The food was a real highlight. There was a very good variety at breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and we appreciated that there were no restrictions on the timing or amount of food and drinks available. The rooms were spacious with large bathrooms, and the facilities around the resort were great. The views over the bay are beautiful, and there’s a nice gym on site as well as a superb café serving really good coffee and excellent cakes. It was also great that there were always plenty of towels available in the rooms and by the pool and sea. However, there were a few frustrations. Cappuccinos weren’t available at breakfast, so we had to ask staff every morning to get one from the café, which meant waiting at least 15 minutes each time. On one day we were even told we couldn’t have one at all, which felt strange for such a basic breakfast drink. Sunbed management on the beach also needs improvement. Guests regularly left towels on sunbeds for hours without using them. At one point a beach seller even told us to move because a family had previously been there, despite only leaving one towel across several seats. We reported this to the hotel but nothing was done. Beach sellers shouldn’t be directing guests, and sunbeds shouldn’t be reserved for long periods without being used. Breakfast service could also be friendlier, and the rooms were quite cold as the air conditioning doesn’t allow the temperature to be raised beyond a certain point. Overall, it’s a beautiful hotel with great food, facilities, and views, but a few operational improvements would make the experience even better.

Should be advertised as a 3*
Staff were very slow and unhelpful and rude. This hotel should be a 3* not 4. Food was horrible. We had to change rooms as the first room was damp and dirty.

Worst place ever!!!!
If I could rate below one I would. In all the years of vacationing this is the most absolute worst so called resort. First of all to make reservations at the restaurants, they only make reservations from 10am to 3 pm. and need your room number to do so. Here’s the caveat, check in is after 3pm. So your first day you only can eat at the buffet or bar food. We didn’t get our room till 5:30 pm. We requested two queen beds. They provided one king and informed us that no other rooms are available. Once we got to the room! Omg!!! Where do I start, no screen in the patio door, lock was broken and ended up getting locked out on the 4th floor patio. Had to call the desk and have maintenance come in the room to let us back in the room. Two sinks in the bathroom. The right sink didn’t drain and the left sink had someone’s left over hair. There was a hole inside ceiling near the door. Turns out it was for the sprinkler. But just an unfinished hole. Now comes the so called 5 star rating. The coffee table was covered in water ring stains and the best part was the bed. We removed the bedspread cover and realized blood on the sheets. After informing the desk and their apologies we went out for a drink. After coming back to our room they cover the remade bed with flower petals and a happy 50 th birthday card. Neither my wife and i are 50?? So being curious I took the bedspread off again and wah la. Same blood stained sheet. So while out for a drink , we ordered a Mojito, sorry I was told they had no mint. That lasted for three days!!! No mint??? Give me a break! So I settled for a pina colada. Oops!!! No pina colada either!!! 5 star resort! Yeah right! So let’s go to the beach to regroup. After finding a chaise lounge we went to get a few towels. Oops!!! No towels!!! Off to the buffet. Oops no pizza, most of the buffet was empty it was around 8:00 pm . What gives? I met with a guest services representative, she offered a complimentary culinary experience, usually it’s $110 US there were 5 of us in my group. The food was so so. If I had paid $110 for this meal it wasn’t worth it. The next day I was contacted by the guest services representative and was requested to sign a WAIVER. I asked what’s this for. She said that I wouldn’t sue the resort and leave a bad review . Obviously I didn’t sign, what nerve!!! I met with the head chef O’Shea. Very nice person but he explained that he pizza station is the business stations. When I was there only one poor girl working her butt off to keep up, O’Shea said he had 3 people schedule to that station. I told him you could have schedule dozen people, buy only one person was there. He said maybe the other two were on break. I said during dinner service? Really!!! I could go on and on but this review is getting long. I’m going to attach photos. The worst worst experience ever. Stay away from this resort and the sad part it’s part of the Marriot. Come on guys this place needs new management of just close it down!

Health Issues Forced Us to Leave Early – Extremely Disappointing Stay
We booked the Royalton Antigua Autograph Collection expecting the quality associated with the Marriott Autograph Collection brand. Unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing. Service throughout the resort was slow and indifferent, and the staff in the Diamond Club area often displayed poor attitudes and little interest in helping guests, which was surprising for a premium level of service. The food was average at best with limited selection. The biggest issue, however, was the condition of our room and the air quality. There was clear water damage and deterioration along the walls and cabinetry (see photos). The room felt extremely humid and damp, to the point where our clothes and belongings felt damp while inside the room. The bathrooms also have no ventilation fans, which likely contributes to the excessive moisture. It appeared the damage had been patched and painted over multiple times, suggesting this may be a recurring issue rather than something properly repaired. Unfortunately, the environment in the room caused my husband to develop severe sinus and chest symptoms and he was unable to sleep. His condition worsened to the point that we had to leave the resort early and move to another property. When we contacted the hotel’s director to request a refund for the unused nights, we were told they could not refund us because the reservation remained subject to the booking terms and conditions, despite the circumstances. This was extremely frustrating, especially for a property associated with Marriott’s Autograph Collection. After this experience, we will not be staying at a Royalton property again.

Great holiday in a fabulous location.
This is one of those occasions when I'm glad I hadn't taken too much notice of the reviews, because if I had I would have missed a great holiday. The location is great and the view from our balcony was just amazing. We saw a whale in the bay one morning and there were pelicans and frigate birds. The beach was soft white sand and a lovely walk. The staff were stars, most of them were very helpful, cheery and polite. Maybe those people who criticised them as rude and surly forgot that they needed to be treated with respect and a smile! There were issues, the room though clean and comfortable needed a little bit of attention, particularly the curtains which needed replacing and the door to the balcony was a bit iffy. However anything we needed such as replacement coffee or a small issue with a bedside light was dealt with promptly. The food wasn't amazing, although the buffet was adequate, sometimes very good, sometimes poor. Queuing was a bit of an issue sometimes too. An annoying issue was the App not working, which was meant to be used for booking restaurants etc and this meant queuing on a daily basis to do this. The Caribbean and the Italian restaurants and Steak House were ok, but I wasn't over impressed. The Sports Bar and Beach Grill served decent plain burgers, chips etc. But all of the above didn't detract from our holiday overall because nothing was better than that view from my balcony. Get the detail right at this resort and it would be 5 star plus!
