Relaxing
This place was very quite and relaxing. Exciting to see the different animals walking around. The beach and swimming in the ocean was wonderful. Staff was excellent but be aware that the food quality wasn't so good and drinks were very weak. Ask for doubles with every drink you order. Bring your snorkels!

This is a pretty resort
Just left two days ago. There was no air conditioning in the entire hotel for the last 24 hours. I pray they got it back. It was pretty miserable with the humidity. I have seen others complain about the AC so seems to be an ongoing problem. Going in the fall or spring would be better. The spa is very well run and Erika is the bomb. Highly recommend. The foliage and lushness of the grounds are very beautiful and they work hard to keep them that way. There’s lots of critters however so if an occasional snake running across the path bothers you or a family of coatimundi’s makes you cringe, beware. Food needs work. Same buffet from noon til 4 every day gets old. We did like the breakfast buffet and the two dinner restaurants we were able to try-the Mexican and Seafood. (If only there 4 nights you can only go to two). The dinner buffet is ok. The rooms were nice and clean and beds comfortable. The beach is not big but handled the crowd and you could find a chair at the beach or two pools any time you go. This is a quiet resort, not for partiers. The entertainment shows stop at 10 pm outside. Probably the thing most aggravating was that the reception for new guests arriving was also where you go to get reservations for a restaurant or to pay in cash for a spa treatment or to ask questions. This should be separated out. An assigned concierge to guests would help. There is a club component to this resort and there are perks reserved for them. Overall it was nice and relaxing but not top of the line 5 star like some others in the area we have stayed at. For the price we paid it was on point.

Do NOT stay here!
There have to be better places to spend your money. I just returned from a 4 night trip here and was not impressed. Here are SOME of the issues we experienced: They have a policy that children over 12 years old are considered adults, and there is a 3 adult max capacity per room. My family booked a double room (2 beds), as did my brother in law and his family. We have 3 kids, he and his wife have 1. The plan was to put my 2 kids in our room, and my remaining kid in his room making 2 adults and 2 kids per room (4 beds total). After checking in and going to our rooms, the manager (Carlos) locked my family out of our room and told me that we needed to book another room for my kids because we had 2 many people in our room. My kids are 13 and 15. We were forced to get them their own room for approx $1000 more. The room they put the kids in was a single - meaning he expected all 3 kids to sleep in one bed. The rooms don't get any cooler than 77 degrees F, which is quite warm this time of year. The ice machine in our building didn't work, so we called the concierge (we booked the Royal Concierge package for premium service) and asked them to bring ice, but none ever came. The safe in our room didn't work, so we called maintenance. They sent someone, but it never got fixed. They closed beach access at 7pm (couldn't be on the beach, or in the water), and the pool bar closed at 7pm (well before sunset). Main pool closes at 8pm and the only open bar is on the far other end of the resort. My son stepped on something in the pool and cut his foot. They didn't have any first aid kits or medics on staff past 5pm so no one could help him clean the wound or stop the bleeding. The food for the most part is TERRIBLE. All restaurants except the buffet need reservations which is fine, but the buffet is uneatable. GROSS. My kids and wife didn't eat for a day and a half until we could get a reservation. The other restaurants were decent, but slow. It took over an hour one day to get 3 club sandwiches for lunch.

Fine experience, but not 5 star
Beautiful grounds but poor air conditioning, food, and amenities. Beach area is small but water off sand is clean and gorgeous. Hotel leases to a great diving service. Far from town. Food is not great, especially for vegetarians.
