We felt like family and will return!

We were surrounded by love at Melia Punta Cana. Our stay was relaxing and we were well looked after by the staff. They became our family. The facilities were well looked after. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would definitely visit this beautiful resort again. So many wonderful people stick out for us: Eddie, Adriana, Yailin, Claudia, Moises, Miguel, Reina, and so many more wonderful people.

The Melia Beach Wellness Inclusive Resort Delivers an Adult Only Calm and Relaxing Vibe!

The Melia Punta Cana provided for a nice get away, and the resort had a lot to offer, but also fell short in several areas too. I’m visiting Solo, for leisure, but also as a part time travel advisor, to get a feel for the property to see if it would be a good property to recommend for clients who might be looking to vacation in Punta Cana/ Bavaro Beach. First the property is large and expansive, and large so be sure to bring your walking shoes, as the lobby is a good 1/4- 1/2 mile from the beachside area rooms, pools and The Level which offers guests more of a premium VIP experience both with their accommodations offering pool, and or ocean views, special Restaurant’s, Bars, and even a Pool among other amenities that are made only available to guests staying in that specific vip category. Other beachside rooms are such as mine overlook well manicured green space areas, but in easy walking distance to the beach, while other lower tier rooms are further away and in closer proximity to the hotel lobby area, so it’s fair to say the cheaper the room the further it will be away from the beach and pool areas. It also appears that the rooms located in the Level and those beachside rooms with beach and pool views are more recently renovated, and maybe a bit more TLC provided to ensure they provide the experience they aim to provide, however my room was while clean and nice and well appointed, had a cracked balcony class door, the phone was missing and some bulbs were not in working order, and while this wasn’t a complete deal breaker it is a concern for the price paid of $400, plus per night. Also, I’m not sure if housekeeping is offered daily, but they did not come in during my stay, however I only visited for two nights. However, my minibar was stocked daily with refreshments and water which was nice. However, room was clean, bathroom was big, with large shower that provided good water pressure, as well as toilet and bidet. The room had two double beds, bedding was clean, snd higher end, and mattress was firm yet comfortable. The balcony was perfect and comfortable offering two rocking chairs and a bistro table, and provided for an enjoyable and relaxing place to sit and have a snack, read etc. The dining was fair as it was similar to most all inclusive properties, having buffet style meals for breakfast and lunch at the buffet area near the beach and pool, while the dinner buffet was located in the lobby area, and requires a walk to get to, or the resort offers people mover trams to bring guests to the lobby area, and dinner buffet. The resort also offers several sit down Resturants offering a menu with some items being an up charge, however three restaurants require a reservation, and can be hard to get into if you neglect to plan and make a reservation well in advance. For example, I wanted to go to the Vietnamese Resturant, but by noon it was already booked for the evening, and you have to make the reservation at the special host table area located inside the beachside buffet Resturant during breakfast or lunch, I think it would be best to make your reservations for the week on your first, or second day that you arrive to allow for your best chance of getting to enjoy the sit down restaurants on property. This is definitely something that could be improved upon as many higher end all inclusive properties at this price point or higher no longer require such a process or hassle with reservations, or offer a waitlist that allows for guests that could not get a reservation an opportunity. However, buffets offered an expansive selection of choices and the food was hot and tasted good overall, as well as the view of the beach and water from the beachside buffet area was beautiful. The resort also offered bikes, but they were locked up and when I inquired twice about them, employees seemed unfamiliar with them or how to access them as they were locked up. However, I would have greatly enjoyed having a bike to ride around the property, as again it’s very large. The frost does also offer a spa area located near the lobby, and reservations would be required for services. However, I did not visit the spa. Overall the hotel was very nice, and would give it a 3.5/5 stars and would have given a 4/5 , but I felt the broken glass, was a bit careless, and this should have been fixed prior to having the room be occupied again by a guest as it could pose a safety risk, also not being able to get an open dinner reservation at a sit down Resturant on either of the two nights I spent here, was also a bit of a let down, but if you get your reservations immediately upon arrival hopefully this is not an issues but should take priority if you do not want to eat at the buffet at dinner every night. While the resort could use some renovation, and improvements to bring it to its current mid to high end resort price point, the resort still offered a wide array of amenities, provided clean, and comfortable rooms, with great air conditioning, as well as multiple dining options for guests, and provides many beach chairs, hammocks, swings and other loungers and cabana options for you to relax and enjoy the surroundings that includes a large white sand beach and beautiful ocean views, as well as ample green space to enjoy some shade and or a little break from the sunshine.

Superb hotel that I can highly recommend!

Pros: - wonderful location at the Bavaro beach - located basically in a huge garden, so you have a plenty space to walk and admire, sight of all these palm trees made me smile every morning when I stepped out of the room :) - great Caribbean-styled shared spaces (main building, restaurants, beach area, etc.) - beautiful and very big pool area right at the beach - nice and attentive staff - very good food and drinks especially at a'la carte restaurants - relaxed atmosphere focused on wellness - a lot of activities to attend every day, so you can't be bored - nice, clean and spacious rooms Cons: - distance between pool/beach area and the main building is quite big, but you can get a lift by a hotel electric carts, which are frequently going around the hotel - quite loud A/C in the room, but we were turning it off for the night, and it was still fine temperature in the room - the best spots at the pool were occupied basically from the very early morning We stayed at the Level section of the hotel, and it is definitely worth extra money as you get not only even better service, but also access to a private pool and beach areas (with luxury sun beds, etc.), a separate beach bar, an additional restaurant, a snack bar, and a rooftop bar. Moreover, you can attend special activities for the Level guests only (e.g. painting classes, cigar workshops, etc.), which we really enjoyed. Last, but not least, I'd like to praise our concierge Darwin who is a super nice and really helpful person, and he made our stay even more pleasant. Thank you!
