  Fabulous setting resort, however, falls short of 5-star

  ised as a 5‑star property, but in reality it feels closer to a solid 4. The place itself is fabulous, with an amazing pool and beach area that truly makes the stay special. The food was consistently great, and room service was perfect. However, the rooms are quite old and in need of renovation to match the otherwise impressive surroundings. While room service stood out, the general staff service was only average; they weren’t particularly helpful or proactive, which was disappointing compared to the high standards expected of a 5‑star hotel. Overall, the location, amenities, and food make this a wonderful place to visit, but improvements in staff engagement and room updates are needed before it can truly live up to its 5‑star label.

  Christmas in Paradise

  This is a peaceful resorts that pulls out all the stops for its guests. Zully Guerrero was our concierge & she is always available 24/7 or even the tiniest need…those are her words. She did help us several times always with a smile & the issue was fixed within minutes. The food here is good here. Our Christmas Eve buffet at Mosaico was incredible. The staff worked very hard to impress, and the staff is very attentive to anything you want. There is a tram from the Lobby to your villa or the beach that is never more than a 3 minute wait. The best driver is Yefry Teofilo. He’s friendly & entertaining & will remember you on your next visit there! I got a fantastic massage at Yhi Spa with Leida Flores. She’s very nice & such an asset to this resort. The 55 minute massage is reasonably priced & worth every cent. The check in desk is efficient & Joel & Ruth are helpful & very friendly. The beach area has a new tiki bar added that has excellent drinks & will make your frozen pina colada exactly the way you like it. There are plenty of beach chairs that are in excellent condition. There are lots of activities if you want to participate. We decided to hold down beach chairs with pina coladas in our hand when we weren’t walking up & down the beautiful sand & clear water’s edge. As we were leaving, Elias de a Cruz at the front of the resort made sure our shuttle driver found us & was friendly to visit with. We are already looking forward to our next stay here.

  8 day stay

  Excellent all around. No complaints. Friendly and helpful staff. Great amenities, accommodations, food, beach, and pool. Don't come here if you are wanting to do a ton of stuff unless you plan on excursions. Goal of this trip was to relax and relax is what we did wonderfully. NOTE: No reviews we read prior to booking said that it's a long walk or a wait from the lobby for a shuttle to the breakfast/lunch buffet, pool, or beach. It was but it was and was really no trouble at all. The shuttle came every few minutes.

  Great front line staff; operations were subpar

  The resort itself and the front line staff were exceptional. I feel like if you were able get a copy of the operations manual for this resort chain, it would be pretty alienating, and the service we received with our allegedly upgraded experience reflected that and did not align to expectations. Our quiet room was actually positioned next to a very loud Construction site, which didn’t bother us, but the disconnect between the description and what we experienced was unwelcome. We also spent days on WhatsApp working with our assigned concierge for dinner reservations, and he was only able to get a reservation on our final night and was unable to coordinate any of the activities that we requested. When we did finally get the dinner reservation, we were seated at a table, full of people who had all arrived that day, and we’re able to immediately get into the restaurant, so while we very much enjoyed our time on the beach and at the pool and experiencing the beauty of Barbara Beach, the operations of the services from a leadership level were very poor. Again, Frontline staff were consistently helpful, friendly, and polite, but attempting to actually utilize services was so ponderous that I definitely would not choose this resort chain in the future

  Disappointing Experience Despite Beautiful Setting

  The resort itself is beautiful, with lovely surroundings, palm trees, and a great overall atmosphere. The room bar was restocked daily, which was appreciated. Unfortunately, the negatives outweighed the positives during my stay. I got food poisoning, and the food quality overall was very poor. Hygiene also seemed to be an issue: tables were not properly disinfected, and there were often mosquitos around the food, which was very unpleasant. Service was inconsistent. Waiters frequently forgot orders, and many of the male staff members were often on their phones instead of paying attention to guests. The room had several issues as well. It smelled strongly of humidity, the towels and bed linen were grey and looked worn, and the air conditioning was extremely loud—so loud that it was almost impossible to use. On top of that, there were a lot of mosquitos both in the resort and around the rooms. While the resort looks beautiful, serious improvements are needed in food quality, cleanliness, room maintenance, and service.
