Desert Springs Villas, a fabulous Marriott Vacation Club resort; Marriott quality, service, and ambiance
Again, we had a fabulous vacation at Marriott’s Desert Springs Villas I. We’re trying to recall how many years we’ve been vacationing at Desert Springs Villas I, and we think that number is more than 30 years. My impression is that Desert Springs Villas I has improved over time, as the resort has aged. The grounds, landscaping, layout of DVS I is spectacular, and the buildings, villas, and grounds are impeccably well maintained. There are an abundance of pools, tennis, golf, and unlimited opportunity for bicycling and walking at DSV I. We enjoy having access, as DSV I owners, to the amenities of the JW Marriott Desert Springs resort, next door (Monday to Friday, I think). The staff at DSV I have consistently been welcoming, professional, and efficient. This year, we met Jose, at the Front Desk, who is a gem, as is always the case, Concierge Donna and Jan. The housekeeping department and landscape contractor does an outstanding job maintaining the resort. The Fitness Center at DSV is well equipped, clean, and accessible 24 hours a day. There is no shortage of things to do in Palm Desert, and the Palm Desert area. This year, we spent a few hours, over two days, at Sunnylands, Ambassadors Walter and Leonore Annenberg’s retreat. It was a treat. Similarly, there is no shortage of culture, restaurants and shopping in and around Palm Desert. The Marketplace, Desert Springs Villas convenience store, is a horror show. We know to avoid it, so it becomes a figment of our imagination. In my opinion, Desert Springs Villas made a huge mistake when they decided to outsource the Marketplace to owners and staff who do not embrace or exude Marriott values. The food at the Marketplace is disgusting. In summary, we look forward to an unsurpassed vacation experience at Marriott’s Desert Springs Villas, year after year, and multiple times a year.

Great getaway
lovely and quiet property - well maintained, lovely grounds and pool areas, unit was spacious and nice patio on golf course, didn't use food service on property but it is available if you want, concierge was great at recommending things in the area to do, no problem parking (some of it even under cover from sun), we got a 2 bedroom but the 2nd room was actually a second smaller unit with small kitchen and own full bath ( we basically didn't even use the other unit, but would be great if we had had guests/family)

Customer service matters
Resort is fantastic. Beds are comfy. Units are nicely done & everything works. Complimentary shuttles every 20 minutes to take you to other pools on the property or to the adjacent JW resort. Misting fans to keep you cool outside. The biggest complaint I have is that the front desk staff at check in act like they hate their job. I specifically answered a pre check in questionnaire and stated I had limited mobility, and at check in was assigned to a unit several buildings away from a pool, which I requested to be near so as not to have to walk far. She didn't give a crap.

Golf Isn't Everything (We Don't Golf)
We booked our vacation at Marriott's Desert Springs through Interval International and we were treated like we were Owners. The lines at check-in time are understandably long, but they deploy a virtual army of welcoming and informative receptionists to insure that guests have the best possible vacation experience. Jan at the Concierge desk and Andrew at the Sales desk obviously enjoy making ALL guests feel like they are long-lost family. We had a lovely, relaxing time enjoying the many amenities on property (pools, hot tubs, fitness centers, walking trails) and the gorgeous views of the golf course and waterways from our balcony. I like to book the top floor for the quiet benefit (no pitter-patter of little feet if a family is staying in a villa above yours), but be aware that there are no elevators at the resort. On the plus side, schlepping our luggage up and down the 20 steps counted as a nice workout. The wife also suggested March or April might be cooler than the end of May for planning our next vacation to the area!

Outstanding
We are now ending our week here in Palm Desert. We never stayed here before. Very pleasantly surprised. We stayed in a 2 bedroom in the Jasmine section of the property. Even though it has a separate entrance away from the check in area we much preferred it since it is not as crowded. The villa was nicely appointed and very clean. Not one complaint from us. The pool got a little crowded due to Memorial Day weekend but not an issue. We went dinner in the area 5 times and never had a bad experience. We hope to return here at some point
