Re think!
We stopped there twice, on the way we had good room but on the way back were in a ground floor room with windows blocked by screen....absolutely awful. But really love the airport shuttle.

Poor Customer Service
Let me start by saying we are Bonvoy Members at the Platinum Level. My husband has the account in his name. My family surprised me with a California trip and we stayed at this Marriott for one night on our way. We tried to check in around 10:0 pm after a long day of air travel. I was with my adult daughter. Gary was the person at the desk. He greeted us and then asked for my license-normal procedure. He unsmiling informed us that we were unable to check in because the room was paid with points and my husband was not there. (He had already checked us in online). I showed him the reservation on my phone. That was not good enough. I do understand procedures, HOWEVER, the desk agent was unfriendly and treated us like we were trying to get away with something. He told us that my husband had to call Bonvoy. (It was 1 am at home- he was asleep) I asked to speak with a manager and he simply said NO. I asked for the Bonvoy number and this seemed to be a huge imposition for the desk agent, Gary. We had to call and wake up my husband in the middle of the night so he could call Bonvoy. He did and they said they called the front desk, so we went back to the desk and were told they received no call, in a very unfriendly manner, like we were lying. I replied that this certainly wasn't Platinum level service. Gary replied, YES IT IS. I said NO ITS NOT. We went back and called home again. This time when my husband was again woken up, they told him that they would both call me, and also the front desk. They did call me. The Bonvoy people on the phone were very nice and helpful. I went back to the front desk while I was on they phone and was again greeted like I was lying. Bonvoy called right then and right in front of me, Gary turned in to a happy smiling person. Whatever they said, he happily upgraded us to the concierge level and told us there were drinks and snacks for us up there. He put a smiley face and his name on the key folder. (Like that made everything better). Up on the concierge level, there was dry cereal and a few sodas. REALLY? He was probably downstairs laughing. The hotel is lovely, we've stayed there before. I have nothing but praise for the hotel itself. One desk agent ruined our stay and made us feel like we were trying to get away with something. We will most likely stay there again but hope the they treat us better at the front desk.

Solid LAX Stay with Great Upgrades, Despite Minor Hiccups
I recently completed a five-night stay at the Los Angeles Airport Marriott, and despite a few bumps along the way, it proved to be a solid choice for an LAX-area hotel. My journey with this property started on October 15th when I checked in late at 10:15 PM and immediately received some good news—a complimentary upgrade to a balcony room overlooking the pool. The front desk explained this is normally a paid upgrade, but due to limited availability that evening, I lucked into room 2132 at no extra charge. The room itself was impressive, appearing newly remodeled with modern finishes and amenities that exceeded my expectations for the price point. The bellman who assisted me to my room that first night deserves special recognition. While I regrettably didn’t catch his name, this gentleman was exceptionally helpful and professional, making my late arrival much more pleasant. However, my arrival experience wasn’t without frustration. The valet attendants insisted they needed my car keys before I could even check in, which struck me as an unusual policy. After completing the check-in process, I found myself waiting outside by my vehicle for over ten minutes so the bellman could help unload my luggage and I could finally drive to self-parking. This added unnecessary stress to an already late arrival. For future guests, be aware that parking is quite expensive—self-parking runs $71.50 per day while valet is $85 per day. On October 17th, I decided to extend my stay for two additional nights through October 20th. When I inquired at the front desk about keeping the same room, the staff assured me that booking a standard room would allow me to stay put. True to their word, when I returned to the desk on October 18th for the room extension checkout and re-check-in process, a helpful gentleman kept me in room 2132 and even added my Bonvoy reward number to the extended reservation. The seamless transition made what could have been a hassle completely stress-free. Unfortunately, October 19th brought a concerning security incident. After returning from breakfast, I encountered a homeless individual at the parking entrance gate who claimed to be a parking attendant and demanded money to allow entry. I declined and simply used my room key to access the garage. When I reported this to the front desk, they were extremely apologetic and immediately notified their security team. While I appreciated their swift response, this situation was troubling and shouldn’t occur at a hotel in this price range. On the positive side, one standout feature that’s become increasingly rare post-COVID is the hotel’s commitment to daily housekeeping. While most hotels have shifted to every-other-day or opt-in housekeeping service, this Marriott maintains daily service throughout your stay. Fresh towels, made beds, and a tidied room every day made my extended stay feel more comfortable and definitely added value. Additionally, the hotel provided a complimentary rollaway bed for my friend at no charge, which was both convenient and budget-friendly. My final morning checkout on October 20th at 7 AM went smoothly without any issues, capping off what was overall a positive experience. Despite the valet confusion and the security concern, the quality of the room, the daily housekeeping service, the helpful staff, and the surprise upgrade made this stay worthwhile. At approximately $168.53 per night for a balcony room with pool views, the Los Angeles Airport Marriott represents decent value for the LAX area. I would definitely stay here again, though I’d plan to head straight to self-parking upon arrival to avoid the valet complications. For travelers seeking a comfortable airport hotel with recently updated rooms and solid service, this Marriott delivers where it counts most.

Just go to the Hilton instead
Well, this is the second time we stayed here and were sorely disappointed. We arrived at lax at 9 pm and waited 90 mins in the rain for the shuttle. the first one just drove by and yelled out the door, catch the next one. When we finally got to the lobby, btw the van driver was great, there was a big long line and insufficient staff for checking in. when we got to a clerk, he was rude and coarse and asked for our credit card that i already had paid with and then he said "Oh". what a jerk. he then gave us the key packet with no directions how to get to our room, and we are 80 years old. and no complementary water bottles. he said the elevators are that way. the only nice person was the janitor. he told us we needed to go DOWN to our room not up. then we had to hike down two ridiculously long corridors. the room was nice but the fridge didn't work even tho turned on and plugged in. so we lost all our cold food. bummer. well, never again. we'll stay at the Hilton next door.
