  JOIA PARAISO CELEBRATES "DAY OF THE DEAD"

  Day of the Dead has been celebrated in Mexico for over 3,000 years. November 1 and 2 are set aside to honor deceased family members and celebrate their lives. The Joia created a magnificent day of remembrance for guests and employees involving every department of the resort. The first decorations one might see would be in the arched marble walkway between building 72 and the atrium. The staff hung hundreds of cempasùchil (marigolds) from the chandeliers, sprinkled petals on the floor, turned off all of the sconce lighting and placed lit candles on the floor to guide your way. The Bellavista Buffet prepared Day of the Dead breads or "pan de Muerto" where dough bone shapes are baked into the small breads. The maintenance staff created an alter or "ofredas" in the atrium complete with offerings of food, beverage, cutout paper flags and candles symbolizing earth, water, wind and fire. The entire display was amazing and took on a special meaning when resort employees placed framed pictures of their family members who had passed. The show that night was Day of the Dead, a one-time performance celebrating the day. We participated in skull painting with the activity members and were able to bring our skulls home as a souvenir. But perhaps the most elaborate were the members of the activities team who were in gorgeous full costume with intricate make-up. We have been to the Grand 10 times but this was our first experience celebrating Day of the Dead. It was very special and we hope to share in its culture again in the future. If you are planning a fall trip to Joia Paraiso, you may want to arrange your days to partake in this beautiful and historic celebration.

  Adults Only Luxury

  We would like to thank The Manager For assigning us a room perfectly Located for mobility issues! This is our 5th stay at this beautiful Resort. It is immaculate, friendly and The food is elaborate and delicious. The staff are attentive and provide Personal service to everyone. We are already planning to come back In February. The wildlife is fun to watch! We are staying 10 nights and wish It was longer! Joy and Bruce Toronto, Canada

  Great week at JOIA

  Amazing experience at this beautiful hotel. Everything was perfect. Loved the restaurants, our favourite were steak house, french and sushi. The best part you do not need any reservations to any of the restaurants. The buffet for breakfast and lunch was excellent. Incredible pool. This was our third time at this resort and we will definitely be back.

  Hope it gets better!

  Arrived today. The email I received for private transfers says “a representative will be waiting for customers holding a sign with Iberostar logo”. We walked around looking for the Iberostar logo and nobody was holding a sign with it. Finally asked for help and were taken to a guy standing there holding a Costco Travel sign and the Iberostar sign was on the ground. Arrived at the resort shortly after 3 PM. We are here for 11 nights and we are here to golf. At check-in we inquired about tee times. We can have 1:30 tomorrow and no earlier than 2:00 the rest of the time we are here. 😳. Seriously ? Sunset was 6:04 today so it is likely that we will not be able to complete a round of golf before dark, for the next 11 days!!! Unacceptable and we are not happy campers right now. Iberostar you need to do better for your highest paying customers. We aren’t looking for prime morning tee times but anything between 11:00 and 1:00 which we have never had a problem getting at this very golf course when we were staying at other resorts! It makes no sense. We stay here, can’t get a tee time. Stay at an unrelated resort and what time do you want to golf!

  I wanna go home

  The facility started off poorly when take to my room [presidential suite] I shared with the young lady what I preferred in my room as far as snacks and by end of day they were not there. [Yes these are snacks offered] 2nd we were told that reservation could not be made on property then we found out that reservations could be made when the NASTY french resturrant tried to turn us away the 2nd day in a row. Once we refused to leave they sat us while leaving four tables unoccupied the entire time awaiting on ppl who had RESERVED the tables. French resturrant not worth your time. 3rd we were invited to a special breakfast and sales speech about the facility and becoming a timeshare holder. We were told the speech would be 90min which we agreed to [including the special breakfast] The special breakfast turned out to be the free breakfast that is apart of the all inclusive buffet offered at the facility. We get to the sales meeting they want to offer us a massage we choose a round of golf instead which was accepted. Once we heard the sales speech going on 2 plus hours, we stated NO we are not interested in you 129,900.00 dollar deal that you claim we will recup in 30 yrs. When we showed you how that was a lie, you tried to bully my partner who is a businessman owning several companies ourselves. After 2 additional sales ppl and we are still saying NO thank you, one of your sales representatives tried to fight my partner. Julio iglesis looking with his hair slicked back chest hair showing was a complete joke. We would NEVER purchase anything from this thieft not even a free dream. Your staff seem frightened to speak all interaction has been initiated by us. We arrived On 11/19/25 was supposeto stay till the 1st of December 2025 I wanted to go home the 2nd day at your VERY large property that is run by small minded individuals who have no vision of what is needed and necessary at a property this size. Your responsibility is to bring joy to your visitors and the hopes they will want to return. If your restaurants can only hold 15 to 20 tables turning everyone else away or giving them 3hrs wait times to eat there dinners with your dinner times starting at 6pm. This is a complete joke. The four ppl you have for entertainment we can see how hard you work them. They should have strings attached to their arms and legs they do not look happy even though they are doing their best to pretend. You can learn something from the facility in Jamaica with Mark's team. I watched 3 ppl fall at your pool side and no help to assist these ppl. The lifeguard walked then opposite direction. Sad I would not trust the owners of this property to protect my love one. I recieved dirty towels to my room [your towels are rough, thin, cheap, discolored and they are supose to be white. Toss them in the trash or use as Riggs once they are stained and can not be cleaned. We had to request for our frig to be restocked which should have been completed daily. Once i walked through your very large property then realizing size does not matter when it is not user friendly. The golf carts are available to drop you at resturrants who will not feed you and stores that sale over prices goods. This facility is the home of the wheelchair, the crutches, the walkers, and those who signed that 30yr timeshare joke. This is a scam and I will be leaving as soon as I can get a flight out of this joke of a property. You know it is bad when I have to tell the bartender how to make my drink!!! I could go on but it would get posted.
