It was okay
We just returned from a 10 day stay. As a club member, the prestige staff were wonderful! A+ The prestige member beach area was pathetic. Staff could care less when you walked in. It was always packed, not enough beds or chairs. It was filthy and lots of garbage around the area. Check in was smooth. The room was pretty good, very clean! Grounds were very nice. Nice views of the mountains. A shout out to Georgy, he was very informative of the orchid garden, we saw banana trees, aloe gardens and papaya trees. We tipped this man because he took such pride in his work. The pool area had lots of chairs! The pool was disgusting. In 10 days I saw it get skimmed once. Very unsanitary, bird poop floating in it…grosse. The bottom was very rough, cement coming apart. They could revamp the pool anytime! We had a very nice Paella lunch on the beach one day and don’t miss out because it was delicious. The buffet was pretty decent, lots of choices. Japanese was fun if you get the right people at your table. Food was great! Italian wasn’t too bad, unfortunately I did not like my entree but the pizza was terrific! My favorite was the Mexican! Fresh Guacamole and the pork enchiladas were my favorite! The staff go out of there way to make fun for everyone and they work ver, very long hours and very hard! Show or tell them your appreciation. The spa was very small for our massages. The pool area was a nice get away…quiet time. The staff were friendly. Would I return, maybe. As a member we get our trip for a great price. Non member, I don’t think I would return. We seem to like things a bit busier and like to talk to other travelers and here, it was a bit difficult. They should put bar stools around the main bar. Bartenders would make more in tips. Please tip, they don’t make a lot of $$$ The End!

Good but.......
First off the resort is beautiful the grounds and beach are well taken care of, there were plenty of beach chairs with shade from the trees, the pool had lots of chairs but you must get up early to reserve your spots as people put there towels on them early no big deal to us as we are there for the beach and when we would go to the pool in the late afternoon we never had a problem finding a chair. The rooms are nice comfortable beds and a nice hot shower. the food at the buffet was very good with plenty of options for everybody to enjoy, you will find something you like. The staff and entertainment team work extremely hard, the nightly shows were pretty good a couple were really good. Now for the bad, there is absolutely no consistency on drinks from bartender to bartender and from bar to bar some drinks are extremely good and then you get another one and it is absolutely horrible might not even be the same color as the last one you ordered, bartenders should have some training, so the drinks are consistent anywhere on the resort beer was always ice codld though. Then the smoking on the resort would be the reason for me not coming back, no matter where you are at on the resort whether it's the beach, the pool, the lobby, sitting down to watch the nightly show, at dinner, sitting at the bar somebody is smoking they do not enforce smoking areas at all, if you are a smoker you are the minority have some respect for other people and get up and use a designated smoking area.

Poor front desk service
Disappointed in service at the front desk. Our room would only supply power via a motion sensor, so while we were at the pool/beach our room would be hot the fridge would not work. The people at the front desk said it should not be like that and said they would send someone to review the issue. This never happened and believe me my wife and I complained up to 5x until we just accepted they would not fix the issue. Our other issue was the VIP tour they asked us to take in order to get a free massage. The day we were going our daughter got sick and they called us bright and early to ensure we were going but with her sick we asked to reschedule. We got more attention from the front desk when we didn’t show for our tour than when our room electricity kept cutting out. The day we went in our tour the attitude of the sales people changed once we said no, I understand they work in commission but after being harassed for not going the first scheduled and the refusal to fix the power in our room it just seemed typical of the attitude you got from those who generally don’t work for tips. Cleaning lady and bar tenders were excellent, no complaints.

Second Year at Iberostar
After checking various reviews we decided to return to Iberostar for the value and proximity to the airport. The resort is kept clean and the staff are accommodating. Check in was seamless this year. Our room was in building 7 facing the mangrove area. It is quiet, fairly central to the pool and not far from the lobby/buffet area. We recognized people from last year that have been coming here for many years, which I believe speaks volumes for the resort. No problems with abundant food selections at the buffet. Highly recommend the Japanese and the Italian ala carte restaurants. Shout out to the entertainment staff, especially Ninja and Smiley. Always friendly and try their best to get people to participate. Our only major issue was with the concierges. We were approached more than once about attending the "all inclusive" presentation. When you tell them you are not interested, that should be the end of it, but they seem to persist up to the point that I had to become quite blunt with them. All in all a good vacation and would definitely consider returning.

We enjoyed our vacation. Our rooms were always clean, beds comfortable, nice small resort very easy to get around. Beach was pretty. Help was always available from Henry Ventura, very pleasant , and knowledgeable Domingo was a fantastic waiter in the buffet .
