Overall good experience
This was a family trip with 2 parents (in our 50s) 3 adult kids and 1 senior in high school. Overall a pleasant vacation especially considering the hurricane. There are a few areas the resort needs to improve in but all things considered we had a great time. Here are a few thoughts as you ponder this resort: 1. Safety 8 / 10. That is being generous on the rating. Drug dealers literally every 50-75 feet on the beach. Only a handful of resorts currently open in Montego Bay so most likely they are all competing for the few that are open. But it was ridiculous to be honest. Other than that the resort felt very safe. My wife and I both had a couple of meals that did not agree with us but that may just be us. 2. Beach: 2/10 If a nice beach is important to you--this is not your resort. the sand was not that great and it was covered in seaweed the entire week until the last day (the seaweed was not the resort's fault. but they could have cleaned it everyday too). Some places the seaweed was over 12 inches deep on the shoreline. It did appear that snorkeling would be possible but the wind and waves were too high while we were there. 3. Food: overall is 7/10 but there were definitely highs & lows. The Asian and Aunt Ruby's were the highlights with the Japanese steakhouse a close 2nd. The main buffet was decent. Almost every restaurant had slower service than we would have liked. Dinner was a 2-2.5 hour event except the buffet. However--almost every restaurant ran out of several food items throughout the week. No calimari (which is our kids' favorite). Ran out of pina coladas. Ran out or mango ice cream. The poolside snack area only had goat available for one whole day. Most servers were good but there were a few that were just not into serving. And that is with us tipping very well all week. 4. Drinks: 7/10 We are not alcohol drinkers so keep that in mind. The coffee shop was acceptable to our kids with frozen coffee drinks and snacks. We would have liked some actual fresh brewed coffee (they did not have that there) especially some blue mountain coffee to be available. Most bartenders were decent but nothing special as we ordered cokes and virgin frozen drinks. But the lady who worked by the pool all week ( I forgot her name sorry) was amazing. She remembered all of our names and made you feel great every time you went up. 5. Entertainment 4/10 2 types of entertainment. The daily activities and the evening activities. For the daily activities the folks who were hosting it did a great job having high energy. The activities were a bit cheezy. But the 2 things I didn't like was the sound systems were so loud you couldn't get away from it. And there were many sexual innuendos everyday that were made in the presence of kids and preteens which I didn't think was appropriate. the coolest thing they had during the day was a mechanical bull which promptly broke down so no one got to do it. The evening entertainment was pretty lousy. Our whole family had 2nd hand embarrassment for the Michael Jackson tribute concert. The dude did a good job imitating 8-10 of MJ's moves but it was the same moves over and over for 45 minutes along with over 100 times grabbing himself. 6. Front Desk 5/10 We were greeted promptly. However we had reserved 1 king and 2 doubles. We received 2 kings and 1 double. They kept telling us they were changing the room but they never did. Our adult sons had to have one on the bed and one on the sofa. They are young 20's so they didn't care too much but I was a bit irked. Water filtration system was broken near our room. We called it in for 3 straight days and it was not fixed until I called someone else. 7. Rooms & Resort Aesthetics: 10/10 They did a fantastic job laying out the rooms and resort. This was their top quality in my opinion. Everything was kept clean. Housekeeping did a good job. 8. Concierge: 10/10 Our concierge was Shonyae. I travel internationally often and I can tell you she could work at any hotel in the world and be top tier. She went to much extra effort to make our trip special. She was the MVP of the staff for us. Closing Thoughts: I think anyone could have a great time here. And the area is still recovering from the hurricane so I think they did very well with that in mind. The resort credits are a joke and simply an enticement to get you to a sales presentation. If the resort credit is any part of your consideration for choosing this resort than don't. I do feel that was a bit deceptive by Iberostar. I also hate knowing that there are staff there who are highly pressured to get us to a sales presentation. I understand the resort needs to make money but most people don't want to give up their vacation time for a sales pitch. We have stayed at several other All Inclusive style properties in the past and would probably rate this one as mid - mid low from others we have stayed at in the same price class with the 3 biggest areas of improvement needed are: 1. customer service in the restaurants 2. entertainment and 3. quality of food lose the drug dealers and improve the entertainment & food service and this is a 10/10 all around resort.

Good & bad
I visited with my 22 year old & 19 year old daughters in early March. Overall the stay was ok, but not great. The worst part was one of my daughters got severe food poisoning one night. We ended up having to go to a nearby "hospital" to get iv fluids. It was not a pleasant experience and I don't think the resort handled it very well. I would be very cautious with what you eat there. Another downside was that there was a large water stain on the ceiling in our room and it smelled very musty. It makes me think some of the hurricane damage was not properly fixed. On the positive side, the resort was clean and the rooms were large. The entertainment staff at the pool were great and the pool was a lot of fun.

Great resort with lots of amenities
This is a top notch hotel with plenty to do, little kids, big kids, adults. Lots of daytime pool activities, night-time activities and I gained 5 lbs., lots and lots of food choices. The beach is roughly a 1/4 mile long and private to the resort. There is security around the entire perimeter and on the beach. They keep the pesky trinket vendors at bay and nobody is getting in or out without the proper credentials. All of the staff is impeccable, they want you to be happy. Rooms are comfortable and spacious, but most importantly, clean. The entire resort is spotless. You can book all of your excursions in the lobby and they will arrange transportation so you are not getting in some random cab.

Disappointing
We booked two rooms with two beds in each room. We paid extra for the ocean front suites. When we arrived, they only had 1 bed in each room which was VERY awkward for our 23 year old son and 20 year old daughter. They told us they had a pull-out couch in each room. My daughter said it was the worst sleeping experience of her life. They finally found a room with two beds the next day which required that we had to move all of our stuff from the first rooms to another floor. We specifically booked the "dry season" for Spring break in mid March. It literally rained EVERY day during our 7 day stay. Some days a literal downpour. There is NOTHING to do here in the rain. The food is just alright. Essentially the same food at each restaurant just served with an Italian, Greek, Jamaican, or Asian flare depending on the location. On the third day of our trip, ALL the power went out in the resort. My kids were left in the dark in their shower. They got auxillary power generators working later to serve the essential power needs but much of the resort near the pool and beach was still lacking power. We were told that the main power hub to the resort "fried". They planned on continuing to use the auxiliary power until the main power could be repaired. We decided to leave our vacation earlier than planned but we could only get plane tickets to leave out a day earlier (at a cost of $2,000 due to spring break week). I informed the front desk immediately of our plans to leave out early but they told me to contact Costco Travel directly since we booked the trip with Costco. I contacted Costco who contacted the front desk. The resort representative reportedly lied to the Costco representative initially and told them that the power was fine. Finally, they admitted that they were on auxiliary power. Costco approved our plans to leave out early. Costco asked us to contact them the next day to give them an update. I asked an employee at the resort the next day who told me it could take a "month" to restore the main power. I updated Costco. We were told the best restaurant was at Samurai a hibachi restaurant at the neighboring resort. We tried to make a reservation before we arrived but were told reservations could only be made when we were on site at the resort. As soon as we arrived at the resort, we tried to make a reservation. We were told that reservations could only be made through their "Club Concierage". This is a TOTAL scam. They just want you to go to a "breakfast" to tour their other resort so you can buy a time share type package. This ain't my first rodeo so we declined. However, every single day we were approached by "Club Concierge" employees who would try to do the hard sell to my family and I while we were just trying to relax. We informed the transfer company of our change in dates to leave from the hotel early. They informed me that the hotel records still showed us leaving out on our original dates. I went back to the front desk and spoke to Cora Millings and informed her again of our plans to leave out a day early due to both the power situation and the constant direct marketing by the 'Club Concierge". She said she would put some notes in our reservation but could not change our departure date. I asked her to show me the computer notes that she claimed to have documented and she refused. It was very frustrating because we have been VERY generous tipping all staff during our stay. We had also begrudgingly given "5 stars" to the resort on their tablets after intense, direct pressure to do so. It is too bad that they are so worried about selling you a club membership and begging for "5 star ratings". Otherwise, it would be nice all-inclusive resort. BY FAR, the best part of the trip was spending time with my family. It is sad that you have to pay to travel to some destination to get the full attention of your own family. Nowadays, everyone is overly consumed with work, school, and extracurricular activities at home.😮💨
