Had a great stay here, staff were very attentive especially Nick the bar supervisor, he is an asset to Hilton he had a fantastic knowledge of everything I asked him, beer, whiskey, the hotel building itself and just the history of Edinburgh in general

Solid Hilton in the center of Edinburgh
Clean, comfortable, safe. Some noise from next room or street level, but not too bad. Room was larger than expected, and bathroom was spacious. Exterior preserves the historic character of the building, but inside it’s a pretty standard, generic Hilton.

This may be my new favourite hotel in Edinburgh. I have just spent 2 nights here and honestly have no complaints! Every single member of staff i spoke to were polite and efficient. The room was spotless. Bed huge and comfortable. Plenty of bottle water in room. The scaffolding really did not bother us, I never seen anyone on it. Great location to old town and to new town. Hilton hotels have the best breakfast selection. Can not wait to return.

Jan 29, 2026Extremely disappointed – Poor room condition and ignored by management
"I recently stayed at the Hilton Edinburgh Carlton for a family weekend, and it was a huge letdown. First, our room was overshadowed by massive scaffolding and construction poles right outside the window, which we were never informed about during the booking. It completely ruined the view and our privacy. Second, the room maintenance was unacceptable for a Hilton: the bed headboard was badly peeling and scuffed, looking very old and neglected. We weren't even provided with basic amenities like slippers. When I complained at the front desk, the staff actually agreed with me, admitting I was 'right to complain.' However, no solution or compensation was offered during my stay. To make matters worse, I have sent multiple emails to their Guest Services and have been completely ignored. It is shameful for a premium brand like Hilton to treat guests this way. I expected much better. I strongly advise looking elsewhere until they fix their rooms and their customer service." Great hotel and location
Receptionist was very attentive, staff in the restaurant were great. Spacious room, clean and comfortable. Location perfect for royal mile and centre.
