Girls trip
The entire entertainment team was amazing. Jaime, Brian, Gael, Diana, Luis and Angie. There were others whose names I don’t know. There was always an activity and they were so enthusiastic and inviting to everyone. The bar staff inside and out and the restaurant staff were also amazing. Constantly asking if everything was good. We felt taken care of.

I am sure there are nicer resorts for the same price. It really needs to be updated. The shower only had cool water. I wasn't able to make outbound calls on the local phone. I ended up traveling alone and had paid for two people, I tried to call a couple of the local priests, pastors or a family member of theirs that might enjoy spending a day or two with me. One was waiting for my call to discuss it over the phone rather than email/text. When I went to call i could not get out the operator said she had to place the call. It rang and rang and she cut it off. when I emailed the pastor he said he was sitting by the phone waiting and it never rang. We confirmed the number and it was correct.

“Landlord Special” Hotel that Charges Extra for a Privilege to Leave
Our room looked less “luxury beachfront escape” and more “your friend’s first apartment that came furnished.” Everything felt tired, worn, and very DIY-but-not-in-a-good-way. Rust on fixtures, peeling finishes, patch jobs that screamed “that’s good enough, right?” it was the hospitality equivalent of putting duct tape on a sinking boat and calling it renovated. For a property under the Hyatt umbrella, we expected modern and well-kept… not “2007 called and wants its decor back.” Everywhere we looked, there was something that felt halfway done or long past due for replacement. Rusty hardware, grim-looking details in the bathroom, and that universal white paint that says, “We repaint over problems, we do not fix them.” It honestly felt like the hotel version of a rental where the landlord promises “we’ll get to it next month” and somehow it’s been next month for three years. The pool could have been lovely… if it had, you know, tiles. Instead, there were visibly missing tiles, and heard there was a child that cut his foot during our stay. Nothing says “relaxing vacation” like realizing you need to do risk assessment before letting your toes touch the bottom. For a resort, the pool should be the crown jewel; here it felt more like a DIY project that ran out of budget and never got revisited. We booked directly with Hyatt and, after seeing the state of the place, tried to move to another Hyatt property. We weren’t asking for a handout, we were literally willing to pay the difference to upgrade our stay. The response? Sure, you can move… if you also pay a penalty. So not only were we stuck in a dated, rusted-out “landlord special” room and dodging missing tiles at the pool, but we were also told we’d have to pay extra just for the privilege of not staying there. It felt less like hospitality and more like a hostage situation with a checkout desk. In theory, Hyatt Dreams Sands could be charming with some serious investment and maintenance. In reality, it felt like it was running on brand name and vibes alone. Between the outdated, rusting rooms, the hazardous pool, and the unhelpful response when we tried to move to another Hyatt property, this stay was memorable, but for all the wrong reasons.

Disappointing experience
Dream sands had some of the worst food I’ve ever eaten. Never been more excited to get to an airport in my entire life. I watched the bartender fill a half full used glass of champagne and give it to me after I ordered. Property was clearly a poorly updated bad hotel.

Great daily entertainment crew
The daytime entertainment crew was great! Luis, Diana, Melissa and Carlos were all super friendly and easily made you want to get involved in the activities without being pushy. They remembered names so well and really helped us have a great time. Kudos to their hard work for making the trip such a fun experience!
