Disappointing stay!
This was our second time at Dreams Sands. Our first visit, 2 years ago, was really special and we were excited to return. We liked the small resort feel and the wonderful location and service we received especially at the Preferred club lounge and beach/pool areas. Unfortunately, most of what we loved about this resort was lacking this time. First the good: 1. Location is still great, with a calm beach with only a small amount of sargassum. 2. Staff in the World Cafe Buffet at breakfast were wonderful. Rodolfo was especially warm and helpful. He also personally sang a birthday song for my Mother who celebrated her 88th birthday while we were there!! But the whole team was really great. That was a highlight. 3. The preferred lounge staff was also wonderful to us. The drinks were better there and they were so attentive to us on the couple of rainy days we spent far too much time there!! Now the not so good: 1. Housekeeping was poor to lacking all together. Some days we got fresh towels, others, not. Some days the floors did not get cleaned. Somedays we got turndown service, others not. No consistency at all. (And tipping which we did every day, and leaving notes didn't help either.) 2. Overall maintenance was continually an issue, and not just in our rooms, but throughout the resort. It feels rundown and looks rundown. 3. Service at the Preferred beach and pool area was terrible! Probably one of our biggest disappointments. No effort at all exerted. Actually they did not even seem happy to be there. 4. Food quality was an issue at almost every restaurant. Himatsu was an exception, but your hotel policy only allows one visit per stay??? What's up with that. Also, restaurants were closed on different nights, so an already very limited choice, was even more limited. Overall, I think Hyatt/Dreams better invest some money into this property because it feels like it's in a downward spiral to me. I would not return. If you are going, I also can't recommend you spend the extra on Prefered. Don't believe their promises of upgrades in the room like the upgraded mini-bar, because it never happens.

Dream Sands Cancun
Enjoyed the beach and the bars. Food was average. Wouldn't bother with Preferred Club. Pool temp at swim up bar was great.

My Birthday Vacation
Cancun is my favorite place to go, the ocean was clean and perfect weather. Dream has top entertainment which I loved. I was celebrating my birthday and Gustavo messed it up on the beach because this man is in charge of the chairs and you have to beg for it. I was on preferred section which I paid for it, even for towels..so be aware of it. The SPA is perfect.

Pick another spot.
Food was awful. Accommodations old and unkept. No in room dining as promised. No response to requests for help. Beach full of rocks
