Disappointing family vacation
So disappointed. We planned a family vacation with 10 people. We called weeks in advance to ask that our rooms be situated close and for my room to join to another member of my group as we are travelling with a toddler. When we arrived, none of our requests were met. At all the restaurants we’ve been told that we can’t sit together. Max 6 people per table and they will not pull tables together, even in a restaurant that was basically empty. We’ve been told it’s “ policy”, but if we purchase by type service we can all sit together but if we purchase bottle service, we could! It seems like everything is an extra charge here :( So disappointed. We were excited to have a family holiday , only to not be able to actually spend time together. Would suggest not travelling here in larger groups.

Exceeded our expectations!
Everything was wonderful. The beach was beautiful and clean. The food in every restaurant was great. Loved it all. Great coffee in the Cafe. The bars were awesome. Favorite was the lobby bar. A crazy storm came through and the staff was amazing. Everyone was crowded inside and the entertainment was brought in and put on a show. Wish I had more time. I would go back.

Excellent experience
Resort is very clean and well maintained. The beach is beautiful and the ocean is calm. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I needed water before the bar is open, and the staff still went to get water for me. The food is delicious. The lobby staff greeted us with warm towels and a glass of champagne 🥂. This is an excellent resort.

Deceptive Check-In Tactics and a Ruined Vacation
Dreams Sands Cancun turned out to be one of the worst vacation experiences I’ve ever had, starting from the moment we checked in. Right at check-in, they try to trap you with their Hyatt Vacation Club program. They offer an upgraded room for a fee and then send someone from their VIP staff to offer you “yellow money” coupons to offset part of the upgrade cost. This is their bait to lure you into a so-called “90-minute orientation.” In reality, this turns into a 3-4 hour ordeal with high-pressure sales pitches from multiple people trying to force you into buying memberships costing $60,000 to $150,000. The whole experience feels like you’re being kidnapped. They completely ruin the start of your vacation with these deceptive and aggressive tactics. The hotel itself is in terrible condition. Our room had water pooling on the floor, and the interiors were outdated and poorly maintained. At Himitsu, their restaurant, we were told to arrive at 2:30 PM to make a reservation, but no staff showed up until 3 PM, leaving a line of guests waiting without explanation. The service at the Mexican restaurant was the final blow. When we ordered a dish, the waiter rudely asked if we could finish it. Later, we saw the same dish served to another table with a stunning fire presentation, while ours was served without any effort. The discriminatory treatment was humiliating and unacceptable. Dreams Sands Cancun doesn’t understand that guests are here to relax with their families, not to be bombarded with sales pitches. These aggressive tactics and poor service make this hotel a terrible choice. Avoid it at all costs.

Solid choice for the price point. Beautiful quieter beach nor bothered by hawkers
Stayed one night "just to see" and would return. Globalist recognition from first contact. Personally escorted each of the way. Very white glove to the preferred check in and lounge. Beautiful oceanfront. Beautiful beach. Lounge is a lovely escape from the pre-christmas crazy. Concierge was always immediately available for questions. Received an upgrade to a junior suite which had to be an apartment formerly. Bottle of sparking waiting. Just went through a renovation, but the hallways need work. Some of the construction seemed to be rushed. Elevators are few and small but fine. Fitness center was small but very adequate. Nice job with a view of tropical foliage. Food was average to good. This isn't Michelin dining but we enjoyed the chicken cooked a la minute at the buffet. Guac was awesome. Filet at steakhouse was good. Asked for rare .. and it was indeed rare. Aperol spritz was lovely (not so at a different resort due to the cava). Bacardi lime & grapefruit excellent. Frozen drinks overly sweet & morning coffee not to our taste. Service was variable. There were some excellent servers and others wanted to be elsewhere. We tipped as appropriate but were never asked.
