    Best laid back experience ever

I’ve been to many resorts in Mexico over the years. Dreams was by far one of the most laid back experiences. It was quite, staff was very friendly and if there was an issue they was right on top of it. The spa was amazing! I would highly suggest the hydro package.

    Good bad and Poop!

The good the bad and the poop!! Check in was quick and easy with a nice glass of bubbly. Check out just as quick. Loved our ocean front suite in building 37. The separate bedroom was amazing. Downside I hate the smell of garlic and every other day the pizzeria was open and it stunk up the room. The shower was huge but some drainage issues that ran all the way into the living room and toilet area. Bed was comfortable. Room was clean. Fridge was stocked but not always daily and had to ask a couple times for drinks. Patio door wasn’t locking and had to ask multiples times for a repair. When we went to ask again they said they have a video that it’s repaired. They finally sent someone to the room and it in deed was not fixed. Bring a piece of electrical tape the light from the air con is like a spotlight. Aircon worked great. Restaurants… well not a lot of options. The olio and the pizzeria are closed every other day the buffet is dreadful. We were all adults in our group so we were able to go to the secrets aura for meals. But I throw a wrench in because of severe allergies(nuts and salmon) and food intolerances to gluten. We eventually found out that the chef will prepare separate choices. Very few options and no labels to identify gluten free or nut free. Had a terrible reaction one day to French toast and thought for sure I was going to need a hospital. The two Asian restaurants are closed permanently. And the hibachi is no longer available for Dreams but we put up a stink because it was one of the reasons we had booked. It’s usually our favourite. Don’t miss the taco stand it’s delicious. Last day I asked for a slice of gluten free bread and they had to go all the way to secrets. All our party had finished eating before I could even toast my bread. Avoid the time share meetings. It’s ridiculously priced and a waste of time unless you really want the $250 for massages. The spa was ok. We did the water circuit and the couples massage. Very pricey compared to Canadian massages. But the spa is very pretty and they do take care of you there. Beach was definitely rocky and difficult to get in and out of the water. Bring water shoes. Snorkelling was fun but not a lot of things to see but some pretty fish. You have to be up at 6-630AM to get a chair at the beach. People save them all day and never show up. Towels ran out a couple times … mostly on rain days. The bar tenders and beach servers were all fantastic. The ugly…poop. We all got SICK!!! Very very sick over five days of being stuck to a toilet. We are assuming food contamination. In all our years of travelling we have never been so sick. We had to beg for bananas and eat plain rice for days. I’ll never travel again without a medication before hand. Day three and on of our 10 day vacation were ruined with Montezumas revenge!!! After all that I would go back…just would take precautions. And now we know a bit more of the ropes.

    The Good and Bad

We were at this same resort a year ago and had a great experience. This is not a 5 star resort as it is listed on several sights. The good: the room was amazing with a great view. The temperature was good and the bed comfortable. We were right next to the pool and the beach and never had trouble with noise. The pool was great and very refreshing. The beach was good as well. You need water shoes to enter. The water was clear and refreshing. I left the staff for last. They alway seemed friendly and helpful. A real plus for the resort. The young lady Luz at the pool that did activities was our favorite. She was so sweet with a great attitude. The bad: check in- we arrived a little after 3. I was excited because 3pm is check in and could go straight to our room. Didn’t happen. The one person they had doing check in said it would be about 10 minutes. Not too bad but…. After 2 more times checking to see we finally got our keys. About 45 minutes later. The problem was they did not have enough people checking in. They did however have 4 or 5 people to try to sell you on a package or time share type situation. Next, the food situation. They tout a buffet and 3 restaurants. They only had the buffet and 1 of the 3 restaurants available each night. This made for horrible wait times to get a table. We were told at the pizza place one night it would be a 1 hr and 45 min wait. We could shorten our wait if we would buy one of their bottles of wine. Not acceptable. So we thought we would try going to the sister resort close by “Secrets” and try to eat there. Well they are doing the same. Buffet and 1 restaurant open. There were 15 tables to be seated before they could seat us. So we thought we would try their buffet. Thought it might be a bit different than Dreams. It was horrible the food was not edible. We went back to the room and ordered room service. It was delicious. I prefer not to eat in the room every night. I had such good expectations and was so disappointed. We are not foodies we just need a good place to eat with some edible choices. Hope they hire more help and get the situation fixed.

Not the place to relax. We couldn’t wait to leave.

Rooms are dirty. Walls are thin. I could hear people beside and above me. The property is under construction. We were advised we’d have access to their 2 other resorts - one was closed, and the other with the best restaurant was for Secrets guest only. We weren’t advised of this until we attempted to visit. We visited for my girlfriend’s birthday and for some R&R. We didn’t get a good nights rest the entire trip! After complaining about being able to hear my neighbor in a conjoined room, I was moved directly next to construction. I was advised my only other option was to downgrade from our swim out suite as they were booked, but they appeared to have plenty available. The bed was broken upon check-in, so we had to leave for maintenance to repair it. They repaired it by placing 2 twin bed frames on wheels under a king mattress, so the bed separated multiple times. My gf fell from an AC leak! I woke up from hearing her body hit the floor. There was a legit pool of water… She was in bed for the rest of day. Most of the restaurants at Dreams were closed daily. The menus never changed and had weird hours. Nothing open late or in between lunch/dinner, so we had to order room service, which was also limited. Every time the delivery guy arrived, he complained about how far he had to walk and how tired he was, which made us feel horrible.. we wouldn’t have ordered room service if the restaurants were open! They messed up our birthday order and provided chocolate cake when I specifically requested vanilla and informed them the birthday girl will not eat chocolate. They offered 50% off for the inconvenience. The drinks were weak! 3 margaritas in without any type of effect- we eventually stopped drinking. So many things went wrong. It was a huge disappointment overall, but the beach is beautiful! The only positive thing about the resort.

    Just a whatever stay

Really bad experience while there. I’m a UVC member but they really don’t care about pretty much anything. People is not friendly and they won’t care to make you feel welcome. Ocean is nice, pools old and dirty.
