Hacienda Belen
Although the hotel is nice, the hallways are very echoing making anyone walking, talking in the corridors very noisy. We had a room near pool which added to the noise. We didn’t find the place as restful or peaceful as we had hoped and preferred the AC Marriott round the corner.

Needs Major Improvements
The Costa Rica Marriott Hotel Hacienda Belen is lovely, however, I did not have a great experience. The resort is gorgeous and peaceful and has so much to offer. It looks and feels exactly like you want it too. They need a much more informative website. The website lacks menus and daily activities as well as direct contact for the hotel. I had call the general Marriott line and they did not even have the correct email address for the front desk. It would be nice to know all of the resort's offerings before arriving. I would have planned time for the history and coffee gatherings. Staff was friendly but I got lost trying to find my room and it took me asking three staff how to find it. I also had asked one restaurant staff were the spa was and they did not know. It's a decent sized resort, so I get it, but that was not fun. The rooms are really nice and I had a great view. The room was clean, super comfy bed, and nice bathroom. However, I went to sleep at a little after 9, and until about 1 a.m., it was noisy and there was a ton of thumping, like chairs being moved around. I did not sleep well at all. This went on for hours. Absolutely awful. Also, the thermostat in the room doesn't go below a certain point (like 68F or 66F), so I was uncomfortable. Hacienda Belen is an aviary, so it was cool to see all sorts of birds. The pool area is very nice. However, because of said birds, the pools were absolutely disgusting. I went in the afternoon and they looked like they hadn't been cleaned all day. I would not go in one. I ordered a drink at the pool, but it was weak, so skip that. I also went to Kuo Spa, which was a good experience. Restaurants were good. I went to Hacienda Kitchen for lunch and breakfast and Bar 10 for dinner. I had great service. I loved the breakfast buffet, because it had gallo pinto, cheese, bread, fruit, etc. Bar 10 does an excellent chifrijo. I also really appreciated the resort store, which had great gifts. Casa del Cafe is attached to the store and I got coffee there. The barista introduced me to Costa Rican coffee and showed me how to drink it the correct way. I forget his name, but he was a gem. I had to be in San Jose and was looking for a relaxing resort with major tropical vibes that was close. This absolutely fit the bill, but for the price, I should have had a way better experience.

Good Hotel... near airport
A bit unfair to try to review this hotel as we only stayed to get some sleep before leaving for the airport very early in the morning to catch a 4.30 AM flight. Suffice to say that the hotel looks pretty good, the rooms are excellent, front desk was organized and efficient and the room service was good. Would certainly recommend from what we saw

Friendly, Beautiful, and Clean
Hacienda Belen is a very busy place and was filled with mostly North American travelers and travel groups during our 3 night stay. The rooms are spacious and very clean. They are well lit. The building is colonial style and was built in the 1980's. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained, The staff is very friendly and accommodating. I do not drink coffee and requested an electric kettle for tea and it was provided. The large restaurant downstairs has a beautiful patio. The breakfast buffet is massive. There is also a lunch buffet. We ordered off the menu and the food was excellent. The laundry service was also excellent.

This Place Saved Our Vacation
As the title implies, this place saved our stay in Costa Rica! Having never been to CR before, we assumed that staying closer to San Jose would get us the best bang for our buck; so we decided to stay at the Sheraton. Nice hotel, but everything that we picked the hotel for (rooftop restaurant, swimming pool, executive lounge) were all under construction. We stayed 1 night and decided that we had to relocate. Also, the location was not so great either; the biggest benefit was the hotel is located within walking distance of a nice mall. So, we arrived at the Hacienda Belen, and just entering onto the driveway made me feel things are looking up already. Reception had a room ready for us upon arrival, ad immediately after check-in we were met in the lobby by the Manager (Caleb Samudio), who took us on a walk through of the property, had our bags delivered to our room, and introduced us to members of the staff whom we could contact for whatever...WOW! The hotel itself is beautiful, and the grounds are maintained at a vey high level. Throughout our stay (6 days), we interacted with many members of the staff, all of whom were personable and professional. A special shout out to the team in the executive lounge and the housekeeping team. The cost was a little more than the Sheraton, but Totally Worth It! WE have found a home away from home in Costa Rica.
