  ONE OF OUR BEST MARRIOTT EXPERIENCES!!

  My fiance and I really enjoyed our experience at Marriott Hacienda Belen. We stay at many Marriott properties around the world and this was one of our favorites. Even before arrival we felt so welcome - by Director of Sales Jean Segura, and Rooms Controller Sharlyn Mora. They were both extremely attentive and eager to ensure we would have a wonderful stay. Upon arrival we were greeted by Christian who checked us in and was so friendly and helpful. In the gym (best and largest of all Maariott properties we've stayed at) Keilyn and Isaac were amazing. Keilyn was so gregarious and nice - she became like a close friend during our stay. And Isaac, the personal trainer, helped me improve my exercises. The resort setting on the golf course with amazing views to the mountains was simply spectacular - and quiet and relaxing at the same time. We felt truly at peace and will definitely return here on our next trip to San Jose Costa Rica. Thank you to everyone who helped make our experience so memorable.

  Worse Mariott Experience. This is giving the brand a bad name

  One of the worst Mariott properties in the world. Entrance dues not have luggage assistance. You don’t have a proper waiting area. Service at the reception is extremely slow. Rooms are not kept well, no amenities in the toilet. Things like tooth brush paste a glass etc are missing. You don’t even have. a water kettle for making tea. I had to wait for 1.5 hours with repeated calls to housekeeping for toilet amenities water kettle and bottles of water. Room service was alright and the food was delivered fast but after a tiring flight when you have to wait till 11pm for simple room amenities then it is very frustrating. The whole trip started with a bad experience. The pickup at the airport left without us leaving us frustrated and upset with the hotel giving us chatbot responses with us finally finding our own way to the hotel. If that was not all the property itself was underwhelming. Not looking forward to my stay despite being a Bonvouy elite. Platinum customer. My daughter and I are highly disappointed. Definitely not staying here again.

  Disorganized Service at a Supposed 5‑Star Marriott

  I expected a seamless stay at a 5‑star Marriott, but the service was far from it. Calls to the front desk went unanswered multiple times, forcing me to go down personally after a shower when amenities were missing. Promised credits were not communicated to the restaurant, leading to embarrassing delays. Even the airport shuttle booking was mishandled. Staff eventually offered $20 credit and late checkout, but the lack of coordination and accountability made the experience stressful. The structure itself has charm, with its hacienda‑style architecture suggesting Costa Rican colonial heritage. Yet the processes are badly done: loud pool music and a sports‑bar vibe clash with the building’s design, leaving the property confused in identity. For a brand that claims five‑star excellence, both the service and the concept were disappointing.

  Comfortable staying

  Marriott Hotel Hacienda Belen is an excellent hotel with impressive facilities, including a surrounding coffee farm and an on-site golf course. It’s only a 10-minute drive to Juan Santamaria International Airport, making it conveniently accessible while remaining quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed breakfast and evening snacks in the executive lounge, where we could even request menu items not on the buffet (which we only learned after talking to the concierge later), which was a great feature. Housekeeping was excellent, and the staff at the lounge were friendly and attentive. Overall, our stay was pleasant. Caveat: For a room upgrade costing an additional $100, guests receive access to the executive lounge with breakfast and evening snacks. Of the total $100 fee, breakfast costs $32 plus tax. We later discovered that the breakfast buffet in the main hall downstairs, with a larger variety and a view of the surroundings, also costs the same. When we asked if we could opt for that instead, several staff members at the concierge consistently said “no,” even when we offered to forego the executive lounge access. One concierge promised to discuss this with his supervisor and return our call, but he never did, and we had to follow up. On our last day, we wanted to invite a friend to join us for breakfast in the lounge, and an extra guest was charged $40. As frequent travelers, we have stayed at hotels like the Hilton, which allow guests to use the executive lounge and buffet restaurant for breakfast. Marriott Hacienda Belen could adopt a similar flexible approach to accommodate its guests better, and I hope when the room upgrade was offered, all these matters explained clearly so that we could have made right decision instead of stuck to it without any other options.

  A timeless Costa Rican gem near San José Every visit to the Marriott Hacienda Belén reminds me why it’s one of Costa Rica’s most iconic resorts. Whether you’re here for a quick stay near the city or hosting a special event, this property delivers the perfect balance of tradition and luxury. The classic hacienda-style architecture, peaceful courtyards, and tropical gardens make you feel like you’ve stepped into another era—yet everything is modern and impeccably maintained. The pools and outdoor spaces are absolutely stunning, and the attention to detail throughout the resort is remarkable—from the ceramics and artwork to the warm lighting and lush landscaping. The dining experience is consistently exceptional, with top-tier food and service. A big thank you to Saray at the front desk, who went above and beyond to help me check in early before my event and later arranged an extra night when I just couldn’t leave! The entire team is friendly, attentive, and makes you feel completely at home. Pura Vida, Marriott Hacienda Belén—always a pleasure to return!
