  Good family hotel

  This is a very convenient hotel with lots of amenities. We used the pool and there is a hot tub too. There is a lunch Buffett at Hacienda kitchen and a well equipped spa and 24/7 gym. Checkin and out was easy and the staff were all very helpful. We used the executive lounge for breakfast and evening snacks. We like the spacious room. Will stay again if in the area because it is close to nearby eats.

  Great place !

  This place has a fantastic location, is extremely well maintained, and staff go out of their way to be helpful. We spent Christmas there, and had a few fantastic days. A room with a view overlooking the driving range, very nice pool area, and a good fitness. I would definitely recommend this hotel, and having recently stayed at the Marriott Los Suenos which was a huge disappointment, the star performance of the Hacienda Belen is all the more remarkable.

  Disappointing stay that didn’t match Marriott expectations

  We stayed at the Marriott Hacienda Belen in San Jose, Costa Rica for two weeks, and overall, we found it pretty disappointing. The main pool area is really just a kiddie pool that’s constantly noisy with kids, and the jacuzzi and outdoor seating areas are in need of maintenance. There’s a real lack of seating and umbrellas, and only two cabanas for a hotel that can host hundreds of guests. So if you sit by the pool, you might be waiting forever just to get service. Food-wise, it’s mostly average. The nachos at Bar 10 were great, but the lounge and buffet food were bland and often tasted like it had been sitting out too long. The lounge is usually overcrowded, and we had to line up every night just to get in, only to see empty tables apparently “reserved” for others. As for the rooms, they’re dated and not soundproof at all. We could hear everything from the rooms above, kids in the halls, and even had to change rooms because of noisy neighbors. While the staff did help us switch to a quieter room, we still had noise issues. In short, this hotel needs better maintenance and service if they want to meet expectations. I’m sure an automated response will show up thanking us for our feedback, but based on this stay, nothing will actually change. I hope this review reaches real travelers and helps them make a different choice when visiting this beautiful country, because Costa Rica deserves better than this experience.

  Extremely disappointing and unacceptable experience due to hotel mismanagement

  Extremely disappointing and unacceptable experience due to hotel mismanagement. Despite notifying the hotel multiple times that I would arrive Saturday morning from an overnight flight, they incorrectly marked me as a no-show for Friday and gave away my room. I intentionally booked and paid for Friday night—per the hotel’s own guidance—to ensure a room would be available upon arrival. All of this was clearly communicated through the Marriott app, including coordinating an airport pickup, and my boyfriend also called and spoke with Cesar to confirm our Saturday morning arrival and birthday plans. When we arrived, we were shocked to be told there was no room available. The front desk apologized and assured me I would not be charged—yet I was charged anyway a week later. Marriott promised a refund after I opened a case, but more than 10 business days passed with no resolution, forcing me to dispute the charge with my credit card company. This level of miscommunication, poor management, and failure to honor commitments is completely unacceptable.

  A memorable stay defined by exceptional hospitality

  Staying at the Marriott Hacienda Belén was a truly pleasant experience. The property offers a peaceful setting, beautifully maintained spaces, and a welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel comfortable from the very first moment. What truly made the difference was the outstanding hospitality. I would especially like to recognize Mr. Allan Sibaja, whose level of care and dedication was remarkable. His attention was thoughtful and sincere, always anticipating needs and making sure everything flowed perfectly. His professionalism combined with genuine kindness created an experience that felt personal and memorable, not just standard service. Dining at Hacienda Kitchen was delightful, with great food, a relaxed ambiance, and a team that clearly values excellence. Experiences like this are what make guests want to return. Highly recommended.
